  1. x2 If you're banking fish /w a carolina rig, it's a pretty basic presentation. cast it out, drag it back. you'll find all sorts of different structure and cover you probably didn't know was down there, too.
  2. Yes, that is precisely what I mean. "Top shot" is the line that you are using joined at the backing. i.e Mono is the backiing and InvizX is the top shot.
  3. Yes it's fine. Try using 65 yards instead of 100 on each reel. You get more "top shots" of line and 65 yds of line is a lot more than you think on a reel. It should last a while.
  4. I don't know how you are going to "burn up" your PQ using an open water presentation like the c-rig or football jigs. The reel will be just fine...All you are really doing /w these presentations and the reel is taking up slack line. The rod in my opinion is much more important of a factor. 2oz is a massive weight for a carolina rig. I don't recall the last time i've gone over 1oz. A rod used for a 2oz bait isn't a rod I'd want to fish football jigs on if that makes sense. As for Duckett rods, i have no idea. They don't list their line/lure ratings.
  5. I'm using 14# on one of my squarebill set ups. I use 2 sprays of KVD line and lure before I go out and never have to use it again during the day. It does have a little bit of memory w/o the conditioner. with it though, it's great.
  6. you will hate the 704 for those techniques. get the 705.
  7. Dan offers great prices on products if you get your reel cleaned by him. He's a very reputable person in the reel servicing industry. I wouldn't hesitate to believe that he sold him legitimate abec9's for 20$ on top of service. with that said, the casting distance between abec 9s and 7s is most likely in your head.
  8. no. I have 14# suffix siege on one of my reels. quiet as a mouse. are you sure it's the line that's noisy and not the reel?
  9. premier/mojo/triumph aren't "bad" rods but they have fell far behind the recent influx of quality 100$ rods on the market. If I were in that price range i'd personally look elsewhere. The avid is a great rod for it's price.
  10. conventional wisdom says low light hours are when bass are roaming more and feeding in the warmer months. It's the most "ideal" time to throw topwater but it can and does work all day long..as long as the bass bite them. I'm simply refering to your zara spook/popper type baits. If you throw hollow body frogs or buzz toads into the mix, i'll throw those all day long if I can around any mat/grass/wood during the brightest, bluebird sky day you can think of.
  11. Yes. They are still very much made.
  12. That gentlemen you spoke with is incorrect. I've filled both of my Tatulas close to the top of the spool. They work perfect.
  13. Strike King makes a decent football head shaky head. Secret Lures Wide gap is one I like for rocks as well.
  14. R.I.P homie... my last Sexy Shad Balsa B...love these baits in pre spawn but they are just so fragile on rocks.

  16. stay far...far away
  17. My sister lives in Wyoming and I am up there, unfortunately (sorry, I hate the state..), a few times a year and fish from time to time. The state is predominately trout. There's a few smallmouth streams in the state and even less largemouth waters. Greylocks and Flaming gorge ( I think that's how you spell it) is probably your best bet. The state just doesn't have a ton of water as i'm sure you are aware. I always make fun of my sister when Cheyenne has "water bans" and they can't water the lawns or anything like that on certain days because of the lack of water in the state. If you go south into the Colorado area though...you're in luck. I'm sure you can find some farm ponds that may offer even better fishing than the reservoirs.
  18. Well...obviously unless you were lead to believe he caught 1600 trout in one day.
  19. What other kind of problem is it...? The possession limit is 10. That means you can only possess up to 10 trout on your or in your freezer at home.
  20. 1600 trout and his fine is only 8k. that guy is getting off WAAAYYY to easy. Trout fines in southwest WI and NE IA are HUGE.
  21. It's great line. Nothing's wrong /w AbrazX. Line conditioner solves most if not all line management issues. It's a slippery slope going to Tatsu.
