  1. one of the finest frog rogs made. it's perfect or frogs.
  2. this. it's unreal how much magic this stuff works.
  3. this vid was on my facebook page. Fantastic video that goes through in detail everything from rod/reel/line/bait and discerning productive cover vs none. http://advancedangler.com/?p=5809
  4. without getting into specific intricacies of breaking down each presentation and the line best suited......raul speaks the truth.
  5. i'm up at 4:30 on the weekends and on the river by 5:30am this time of year in the cold.....walleye fishing.
  6. just because you aren't moving the worm doesn't mean the worm itself isn't moving. with the correct set up you can tap a rod blank that will make a worm twitch ever so slightly. wind and current can also move your worm. fish do hit baits on the fall and they do it a lot. the same amount of fish can be caught dragging a bait along the bottom, hopping it, or dead sticking it. you could go back to the same spot tomorrow and they will hit the worm but you may have to present it differently. presentation is key /w trick worms...as with all baits. as for what the fish are seeing...food..
  7. I usually change them out as I just have this idea that they are there to snag things they shouldn't. if you're dead set on using them i wouldn't be too concerned with bending them out /w bass. a popular guide up north swears by them using them for tip ups for giant pike. catfish in general have bent out more hooks on me than any other fish. they are a mean fighting fish /w a tough mouth.
  8. sounds like the anti reverse pawl. just take it out. if anything it will make the retrieve smoother. it only serves as a backup that you probably won't need.i take them out of all my reels when i clean them the first time. never had an issue. if you installed them incorrectly and they are bent even a little bit, it can be a headache.
  9. a buzzbait is a reaction strike lure. you could use glowing neon pink line and probably yield the same results from an invisible line. Braid works really well to horse fish from junkif you're fishing the bait near it. you don't want the buzzbait to go below plane so a sinking line would inhibit it's ability to stay above water if you aren't fishing the rod at 12:00. there's nothing wrong /w using a heavy mono for buzzbaits either. I LOVE fluoro but there's a few techniques where its just not optimal.
  10. The goretex guidewear winter bibs are unbelievably warm
  11. dobyns DX745. one hell of a jig rod. you won't look back.
  12. It is extremely rare for them to do so and if it happens it's basically a fluke. it's not a productive way to go out and catch them but it sure would be neat to see it. of all the years i've walleye fished during the spring and fall cold months when they are the most aggressive on the river, i've never seen or heard of it happening. i have had them just stop a rattle trap dead in it's tracks in a foot of water just under the surface though.
  13. senko 3/16 give or take up or down weight +texas rig beaver and a 7" worm spinnerbait swim jig frog
  14. exercise, stretching, water. i've had a bad back for a while and have gone through chiropractors, pain relievers, etc. nothing has helped more than stretching and drinking lots of water. a couple years ago i had trouble fishing for 5 straight hours my back would ache. now i can fish well over 8 and don't feel it the next day. assuming you're talking about lower back strains..if it's herniated disks...i got a while before i hit that age.
  15. for vertical jigging i prefer 63mxf. if i'm pitching jigs on sand/rock or wingdams it's a 69mlxf.
  16. at least you found out the poor quality of those rods before buying one
  17. the 734 isn't necessarily designed for fishing spooks. it's also listed for fishing jigs. i don't want to fish jigs on the same rod i'm using for topwater. the techniques are a mere suggestion but doesn't necessarily mean it's the best tool for the job. the 4 power dobyns is more of the "do it all" power . if you are insistent of using braid /w any treble hook lures, the 704 or 705CB glass or composite is ten fold be a better option for fishing topwater and cranks than the 734. it will keep the fish buttoned so much the better. the tip on the 734 is obviously faster than the CB series but you are using braid so walking the bait will be that much easier. even if you were using mono, the CB series rods work so much better for fishing treble hook baits. if you want a frog rod, the 735C is a dynamite frog rod.
  18. i use fluoro every chance i can
  19. then you don't want a D7 bad enough. the price of that reel will only go up.
  20. Chiefs Defense is arguably the best in the league right now. Their offense revolves around jamall charles. alex smith is a great QB but is not a rivers/romo type to be able to drive the field fast and long. not entirely his fault as his WR options aren't bad but not the same caliber of rivers/romo. IF they can shut down peyton in a couple weeks it should be a great game. Denver has an okay, not great, rush defense and to put it lightly, a minnesota-esq seconday which should improve /w (i forgot his name) coming back. If they are unable to stop Peyton from "going Peyton" KC doesn't have a chance. I personally don't think they will be able to completely shutdown peyton as he has so many sure fire weapons /w decker/thomas/thomas/welker/moreno but i do think they will keep him in more check that he is used to. I cannot WAIT until this gameon sunday night next week. should be a great one. and to think they even play again 2 weeks after. what andy reid has done with this team is incredible. really glad reid was given a second chance after philly. he's a good coach and philly wasn't his fault, clearly.
  21. they won't go to flynn. he has too many "sore elbow" problems while just raking in his guarantee. they most likely will roll with the "next man up" slogan they are known for. wallace didn't look terrible throwing the ball (his 119 yds says otherwise) but you could tell they didn't want him to throw it with what i'm assuming is a very very limited amount of throwing practice /w lacy running as much as he did. the WR core is in rough shape anyway. boykin/white in the absence of jones looked good but that was with rogers at the helm. jordy will jordy and jones/boykin are a toss up. he seemed to lean on the back up TE Quarless or however you spell it but most back ups lean on the TE anyway. at least they have a solid running game finally. They have a lot of division games coming up so I actually could see them finding a quick replacement if wallace turns into what flynn did in oakland.
  22. if you can get a chronarch d7 new in box...grab it and dont ever let it go.
  23. you can get by with a 4 power fishing up to 1/2oz jigs but that's really it's limit.if you have to pull bass from brush or anything of that matter, a 5 power will be better suited for your needs. by everything you've described and where you will be fishing, you will want the 5 power. especially if you liked how stiff the Veritas was. the winch series is for crankbaits. it has a parabolic bend that is ideal for keeping fish hooked /w treble hooks. it's not a good fit for using jigs/plastics. i don't fish the veritas rods so i can't comment on it's lure ratings specifically. i can't imagine any Medium/moderate cranking rod not being able to throw a 1/4oz crankbait.
