  1. they are great with shipping really everything. all my rods have came in solid cardboard tubes that can be a pain to open due to how well they are packaged.
  2. I'm not sure what size split rings I use but they fit through 4/0 gammy ewgs when I made my own Jika Rig's. It is very possible. I agree the hook up on these rigs seems to be great.
  3. I don't target them but this past fall I couldn't keep the boogers off a 3/16 oz swim jig
  4. Never play leap frog with a unicorn
  5. Green pumpkin magic Sprayed grass june bug houdini
  6. bulky plastics with more action i.e rage craw/space monkeys give off more vibration for fish to find baits in dirty water. The river I fish is almost always stained and you can throw most if not all variations of baits you can on clear water reservoirs but you will need to alter your color selection and presentation to fit the conditions. Black/blue is a popular color in stained water. I've had the most luck with a color called Blue Craw/Magic Craw. Also bright orange/GP like bama craw works great as well. Fish rely more on their lateral line in low vis conditions so using baits like chatter baits, spinner baits, wide wobble squarebills, red eye shads and of course the plastics I mentioned earlier will give you a better feel for dirty water. You don't always need a bait that is a moving bait either. I've caught countless fish slowly dragging shakey heads and trick worms in muddy water. Current is "king" in river systems. It controls everything and where everything goes or sits and waits for food. FInding eddys or current breaks will tell you where the fish are located. Any brush/log/tree w/e is your friend. More often than not when you find a few fish there are quite a few more as they are in that specific area to feed. The fish need to eat so they have figured out how to. They will find your bait. Good luck.
  7. I actually used that stuff years ago. A friend and i would put the paste in these pladtic tear drop shaped catfiah rig with small holes in it with a treble hook attached around the plastic. We just filled it up with paste amd caught toms of channel cats. Blue cats though you are better off using large cur bait either drifting it on a 3 way or near bottom.
  8. I fish flukes and trickworms on fluoro. I throw trick worms on shakey heads a lot though /w a braid/fluoro combo the same as Teal's.
  9. Dobyns 735c is my favorite frog rod.
  10. I've actually looked at your new big-o jigs in blue craw and that is a near perfect match for what I want. Do you sell those skirt tabs individually? I'm looking for that pattern exactly. Just PM me price or details on how to get it if possible. Thanks. I looked up that color and it says it's red/GP. I'll PM you my e-mail
  11. Im looking for a specific magic craw skirt which can be seen here http://www.gambler-lures.com/product_p/jssil64.htm . Does anybody know where else this exact skirt is offered? Shipping is around 13$ for an ordr less than 20$ and they are out of jig jeads id try anyway. Fishingskirts doesnt seem to offer it and i cant find it amywhere. Help! Thanks. I would also be okay with a darker green than pictured but it isnt ideal.
  12. I generally throw them in places I would a swim jig outside the weed edges or laydowns if the swim jig isn't producing or the water is murky.
  13. nothing really wrong with 20#. if I were fishing very sparse cover i'd still be using 20#.
  14. I'd try and turn all your brakes and spool tension completely off and try pitching from there nice and easy. It isn't something that really requires much if any brakes more so than your thumb feathering it once you get accustomed to it. If it still feels a bit sluggish it may be over oiled. that can slow down a reel dramatically. Try at the very least wiping down the spool shaft dry and cleaning the bearings. If the brakes or cleaning the reel don't work then and only then would i try and new line.
  15. gammy round bend I believe size 6 is what i normally replace mine with. I don't tinker with just replacing one hook. In my experience adding different hooks off sets the balance of the jerkbait so just do them all at once. after you replace them all with the same brand then you can just switch out one hook at a time.
  16. I've used both 20# and 30# 832 for swim jigs without any issues. I settled on 30 basically just for diameter and fishing in a little more muck that I used to.
  17. Prior to tatsu, i used red label on my jig and trig rods with no issues (aside from some abrasion resistance but it's give and take with cheaper fluoro) and had no issues at all. I still use it on my squarebills and lipless baits. 15# fluoro would get you through just about any situation. make sure to just check for frays. I use the san diego jam knot and don't experience any break offs due to knot failure.
  18. Not to stray you away from either company because both make some of the finest jigs available but I would suggest looking at trying your own. Wire tying is very simple and I prefer the outcome of something I want exactly over store bought jigs. There are lots of place if you look that you can get bulk jig heads and skirts are incredibly cheap. If not, then I would suggest as OOmod did and split your order up. You won't get as many as tying your own but I'm a very big fan of the brush and football jigs from both companies. Not to mention the color selection of both companies is probably the best/finest available.
  19. In my experience with shimano spinning reels they tend to need a little break in period but as time goes on they will feel amazing. They only get better with time. Give it a few outings and add (i'm not sure if the new saros have a oil port like stradics) a few drops of oil to the port the first trip and just give it a few outings.
  20. the best advice I received a few years ago was to think about how you think you should fish it in that area, then do the opposite. i.e swimming it through grass, rip it instead. i've had more luck burning them next to cover or slow rolling them near the bottom occasionally bumping it and letting the skirt flair.
  21. It's not a bad reel. but the principal of the matter is you didn't get what you ordered. You can find a G series cheaper than 135 anyway so I would return it for the E that you originally ordered.
  22. I agree some brands of braid don't make much noise if any with recoils. There are other braids though that no matter what make a sawing noise on recoils. i.e suffix performance braid is probably the worst. heavier # tests of regular PP do as well. The higher # test you go ( as i'm sure you're aware) the worse the noise gets.
  23. I use the craw formula on some of my jigs and trigs. I think it at times helps get more bites when the bite is really tough.
  24. Generally "Sawing" noise you hear is from braided line on recoils. it can happen in regular guides as well. There are added sounds to shows though.
