Squarebill Help?
Generally the lower gear ratios are catered towards deep cranking. Shallow or mid depth cranking with a 6:3-4 reel is ideal as burning it wont wear you out and slowing down isnt a crawl.

Swim Jig Question
Brovarney's swim jigs are my favorite in 1.8-5/16 oz swim jigs. Majority of the time I'm using a yamamoto 5in grub or kalins grub.

Glitter Jig Coat?
These are just bare lead jig heads. Hutch uses the same bare jig heads and then just applies the glitter and it holds extreamely well but i don't know what he coats it. I have quite a few bare jig heads that haven't seen any use yet and have been in a plano box for a few months. The powder paint mentioned earlier doesn't give the same effect I'm looking for as using fine glitter. my only issue with the jig itself is putting a finishing coat on them. I'm just unsure what will coat the jig /glitter the best to ensure the least amount of cracking and making sure the majority of the glitter holds.

Glitter Jig Coat?
Sure. Triple Thick says it requires you to let w/e you coat it with rest for 24 hours after applying the coat before you do anything to the surface. however, I picked up a few of the jigs and they seemed well and dry so i put a little epoxy on a few to see what happens. If I were to go the route of triple thick + glitter then epoxy and a little bit of glitter, how much epoxy should i be adding to each jig head? I'm assuming just enough to put a very thin layer over the glitter just to cover it? I don't want the epoxy to add much if any weight to the jig. I almost think I could just skip the triple thick step and just epoxy + glitter and that would create a "hard shell" with the glitter still there? Thanks cadman. edit: tripe thick, if you didn't know, is basically a clear brush on glaze that i dip the jig head in and then let the excess run off until there isn't any run. It really helps stick the glitter and none comes off when dropping it or shaking after it drys. Does nail polish hardener work? It seems after the epoxy dried the jig lost a little of its "sparkle" and almost looks like a flat metalic with a little glitter. The nail polish one i tried next to it looks like what I want it to. Is there a tip to applying the epoxy better?

Glitter Jig Coat?
I've been pouring my own tear drop style jig heads in 1/16 3/32 1/8 3/16 and 1/4 for the past year and have decided to take the plunge coating them in glitter. Glitter jigs/plastics are a mainstay in my spring/fall walleye jig pitching. I normally buy these from http://www.riverwalleyes.com/lead-head-jigs.html as his are what I love using and I can just stop by his house to pick up what I need. I'm using triple thick to dip the jig head in and then coating them with fine silver, black and gold ultra fine glitter which seemed to look and work perfectly. They are currently drying for 24 hours and then I need to coat them. I've read to use 2 part epoxy and I've also read to use nail polish hardener. These glitter jigs seem to be a mystery among jig makers and the ones that know how don't share the info. Anybody have an idea as to what the ideal coat for these jigs would be that would stand up to rock? Do you add any glitter to the clear 2 epoxy? Hutch's jigs just don't ever seem to crack. small amounts of glitter do fall off here and there but I have some jigs that are over a year old that still look new.

The last pic, the scorpion xt, was under 200$ and you didn't buy it new. shame on you.

Rod & Reel For Bait Fishing?
ya a spinning rod and reel will work fine. the leader varies depending on current or fish activity but anywhere from 12in-18in will get you fine in most cases below the sinker.

Shakey Head Rod?
I love shakey head fishing in the summer. My rod is well above your price range i'm partial to a 69mlxf rod. for line I use 10/2 832 /w a 7# sunline fluoro leader or sometimes straight fluoro in the same test. Heads I use 1/8 and 3/16 almost always and occasionally 1/4oz if the wind is brutal. I like secret lures wide gap and SK football heads.

Rod & Reel For Bait Fishing?
If you are fishing for just your average channel cat then just about any Medium or MH 7' or longer with some sort larger 3000+ reel. The larger reel would really just be used for more line capacity. 50# + braid mainline with a 15#+ mono leader to absorb shock and deal with line coming through rocks. You can just use straight mono as well but braid is easier to deal with than larger mono on a spinning reel. For flat heads I prefer baitcasting equipment but you are going to go north of 100+$ for that. you could probably find a used abu garcia ambassadeur 6500/6501 (these come with baitclicks and are the best for detecting bites and letting fish run with your bait) for 50-60$ and just use some sort of cheaper ugly tiger stick casting rod or a MH muskie rod. that can keep you south of 100$ and the reel as long as it's maintained will out live you. I used to catfish on the river a few times a month and my abu garcia 6501c3 still works like it's brand new. It was a good investment. My rod is a now d/c quantum alliance muskie rod 7'MH that was more on the H end but I used it more so for flatheads. I think the rod was 90$ new and I got it for 17$ at cabelas on clearance. That total combo I think cost 94$ give or take and has handled 50+ blue cats down in Missouri.

Specific Rod Weights For Certain Jobs...
the spinning rod-senkos/flukes/small jerkbaits and crankbaits/small topwaters the mh ugly stick-crankbaits the UL-panfish/trout I wouldn't feel comfortable using jigs on any of them. the ugly stick is much too whippy for my personal taste but you can fish anything on anything really.

Punching Rod
The best parabolic action as far as punching rods go that I've found is St croixs MH/MF or H/MF legend tournament/legend xtreme. perfectly built for punching. I can't comment on ww2's mojo but i'm sure the action is pretty spot on as far as mod fast punching rods go.

Braid. Who Started The Rumor
Im glad you dont have any fraying issues. Unfortunately it isn't a rumor. Try fishing braided line on the mississippi or any body of water with an infestation of zebra muscles and i think you may change your mind. I have the least amount of fraying and breakage issues (like yourself) around docks and timber. Rip rap or any sharp rock just kills braid.

Dobyns Savvy 735C
In that same price range the phenix recon2 or m1 715 has a great following and fishes well above its price point. Powell 734 would be a good choice as well. Never used a powell but lots of people on here swear by them. Although the following may be out of your price range, the dobyns champion extreme 744/745 is a thing of beauty. I love them for jigs/trigs.

Dobyns Savvy 735C
the rod will definitely fall short in the sensitivity you are wanting for bottom contact tjigs/jigs. I love doybns but there are lots of better rods in the Savvy price range. Phenix makes a great rod in that price range. If you are dead set on keeping the rod throwing some braid on it will help.
