Pitching / Frog Set Up
There's a few people on here that use the 50 size Shimanos for as much as they can. There isn't a downfall to the reel unless you're the guy that thinks for some reason he needs more than 90 yards of line on a reel. They handle slop, pitching, and casting very well. I still own a few 50 size variants that I use regularly. You're over thinking it. Instead of using a lot of backing, now you use very little and get a lighter spool.

Pitching / Frog Set Up
Line capacity isn't an issue...your 50-65# braid depending on the manufacturer is in the 12# range which the reel holds 85 yards of. You aren't even casting a frog half that distance. You'll be fine. The smaller shimano's palm really well.

LC 1.5 & 2.5
I can't tell the difference and also have/use both interchangeably. However, according to Hooligan who hadnt been around in way too long, there is supposedly a difference in the weighting and a hair difference in shape. Regardless, the rto and drs 1.5 are dynamite(really like the RTO 2.0 as well). Would never pay the price for a RC 1.5 when i cant tell a difference vs the ones today.

Interesting question
Can you imagine the blow a horse sized ducks beak could lay down while flying after you? 100 duck size horses 11 times out of 10 and it's not close. You could easily drop kick the first 2 and wield them in a whirlwind manner as a weapons taking out anything in your path with swift vengeance.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
J-Dream?? Ugh F U. I've been trying to find a 7X LH since Jesus was a baby and it just won't happen. Side note..is that a Balsa Megabass crank? I'm curious how it compares to the E1. I'm a sucker for Balsa.

What has happened with jig prices?
- What has happened with jig prices?
Pay the premium for the good ones and go swimming when you get snagged old man. Aqua aerobics are good for the bones.- What happened to carrot stick rods
god awful customer service along with more rod breakages than probably any company. It's been bought out by a different owner in the past year (maybe 2?).- Falcon Cara T7 XH rod...when would XH be ideal?
If you ever find yourself fishing in an area and think "I wish I had a heavier rod", that's when you need the XH.- St. Croix AVS69MLXF vs AVS70MLF
Both will work perfectly for what you desire. The XF shuts off quicker, has more a touch more backbone /w its tip and is 3 inches shorter. That's pretty much it. Just comes down to preference after that. I prefer the 69mlxf for almost everything if I'm using a spinning rod.- Used Tackle Wonderland
If he was indeed a collector for decades, kudos to whoever inherits his lures. Guy might be sitting on a mint.- $4 Lucky Craft and Megabass?
These cranks have been around for a while. I think I asked about these baits a couple years ago out of curiosity as the LC 1.5 is one of my go-to squarebills and got more in depth answers. If anybody can find the topic, hats off to you. These aren't actually "Lucky Craft /Megabass blanks". They are just knockoff molds you can buy from various outlets. Internals, quality control, tuning, hardware, etc set the LC apart from these. Are they worth 4? Probably. They sure look pretty. Are they going to perform like a LC? No.- Backing Floro with Mono
backing is common practice.- Balance rod n reel
There cannot be an industry standard in measuring balance because of the variety of rod companies and the builds. Some companies handles are longer than others in various models, guide sets are different throughout just about every rod, and throw in the different weight of a reel, you just can't have an industry standard. There are two different ways balance is asked for. The first is "where is the rod balancing point?". This refers to the neutral point of the rod. Think of the rod as a fulcrum. With the rod on the reel (achieving a balancing point w/o a reel is pointless because you don't fish a rod w/o a reel), move your finger up and down until the rod balances on your finger in a neutral position. That is the balancing point. The other way is "how does the rod balance?" This is where the balance gets lost in translation and becomes a personal preference. Despite where a rods "balancing point" is, everybody is different on how they perceive the balance. What I mean by that is Joe might like how rod/reel A feels and doesn't even notice the tip pulling down while Steve is fishing the exact same set up and cannot stand how the tip pulls down. Steve will call the rod tip heavy and unbalanced while Joe will tell you the rod is balanced and fishes great. See where this will go? You cannot define how a rod balances, only it's "neutral balance point /w X reel".- New Mojo Bass
Because he does not work for (only with) the company and will give you a complete, honest, unbiased answer. I think it would do you some good to speak with him so you understand what everybody is trying to tell you.- New Mojo Bass
Again, if you even bothered to do any bit of research, you would get what we are trying to tell you. I'm not believing what "I think" he knows. He has more information and understanding of rod blanks than most, if not all, of your run-of-the-mill st. croix reps you met at a show or sports store trying to get the rods in the door. You are exactly the type of person they want to sell things to because you take their word as the gospel. Am I calling him a lair? No. He most likely looked at his pamphlet, saw both are SCIII, are just told you they are the same. To that point, he was correct. And to be fair, that's all I would expect from him. Both are SCIII but they are made up of different materials which, spoiler alert, means they aren't the same blank. I, as well as others, have pointed out exactly how they are different and pointed you in the directed to educate yourself. Heck, you could probably even contact Mr. Hovanec and he would explain in much greater detail if you want.- New Mojo Bass
I've only told you exactly how they are different twice now, Provided you with information on somebody that deals with the company directly and builds on their rods for his customers, and countless times have told you if you even bothered to use any of the Internets most basic means of researching information you could educate and eventually be aware of what everybody in here is trying to tell you.- New Mojo Bass
We have attempted to "dumb it down" as simple as possible providing information from a highly regarded rod builder that deals directly with St. Croix themselves and pointing you in the direction to further educate yourself without spoon feeding it to you. I don't know a different way to tell you how they are different. I've told you 2-3 times now. You are doing nothing in your favor by just saying "no, you're wrong". At this point, it's like we are trying to teach a quadriplegic to play soccer. There's just no way you aren't trolling us at this point.- New Mojo Bass
Are they using the same exact components? There's no way this shaggydog guy is real/serious. He's either the greatest troll to date or Rick Astley just started bass fishing. - What has happened with jig prices?
