Yes or I have seen an object such as a rod picture with the fish then a picture of the rod with a tape.They also make those plastic boards for the "citation" fish, see a lot of kayakers use them. But that is kinda big to lug around. I got a soft tape, the kind you see people that sew have. They seem to freak out less than with the metal tape.

I used mono 95% of the time, my first experiences with braid were bad. I finally got some good like and I respect it. It is not anything more special than mono, there are pros and cons in defferent areas to each line. I still tend to favor mono, because it is cheap and forgiving, spooling up a couple times a year is no biggy to me. Flouro on spinning tends to have a lot of memory and coils.....If it were me, I might look into a hybrid co polymer type line like yozuri. It is sorta the best of mono and flouro.....low vis, low stretch,improved strength but managable on a spinning reel

I'm in and I will start us off. Got this 19.5", girth was about 11" this morning(sorry about the crappy pic, tape got twisted) on a Texas rigged redshad green flake 7" gambler ribbon tail with a 5/0 Gammy superline hook and a 1/16 green pumpkin BPS bullet weight. 30lb braid on my carbonlite/pflueger combo. Missed two earlier in the same area, worked way down bank a little with nothing on the way back to the car I figure this was the spot so I threw the worm out and BAM! They didn't like big sweeps or draggin but little hops back with a short pause. took the bait closer to shore than I had a few weeks ago. Started at about 6:10 today got this one at 6:50 and left.

Yep colder months aren't so bad.....I had plenty of action last winter and Dec and Jan I up my PB each month.....daylight savings is my friend

It's all good dude but look at it like this, Lou is trying to get people on board and return, give aways etc. so keeping it a high standard is his goal and for us vets of the comp should be our goal too. I mean we still have fun, way more fun than the NE guys I don't even thing they say hi to eachother LOL, but still keep the integrity of the competition intact. You know what I mean. And you know Lou probably spent as much time keeping track, helping the other comps out etc. as he did on the water this month. Hats off to him.

Been following the Quantum reel threads around here for sometime, worst I heard and more than one person said this, the side plate radomly falls off or is very easy to knock off/dislodge, some folks lost them into the drink.
