I decided to try my luck cleaning and re-lubing my BPS PQ for the first time. So I got the reel apart, cleaned and re-lubed everything, its all back together but the thumb bar wont press down? Any ideas on what could be causing this? I followed the schematics that came with the reel when I reassembled, and I thought I got it right. Obviously not lol.... Could someone maybe point me in the right direction?

Try keeping the centrifugal brakes with 2 on and adjust the magnetic and spool tension after that. Works just fine for me Oh and to the op. Where's this 149 steal

I use p line cxx in 12 and 15lb. I like it a whole lot For flouro I would consider sunline. Any type would be good

I to have the cxx spooled on a few reels and I like it a lot. Stuff is super strong and kvd l&l goes a long way to fix the stiffness issue

Don't get the carbonlite. IMO its junk. Had 2 of them and had to return both. Had a grinding sound on the retrieve and they were rough as heck. Ended up trading it for a pq and it was a pretty good reel. Of the ones you listed though I would go with the lews tourney mg

I use a Powell diesel 705cb for squarebills and I love it. They can be had for around 50 bucks. IMO you can't beat that price. Rod also has plenty of backbone. Caught a 15+ lb grass carp foul hooked on it the other day. Rod was stout enough to bring that beast in lol

Just stopped by the local gander mountain and they had these on sale for 3.49 a piece. Regular at TW is 5.99, I picked up a couple. Just thought I give you guys a heads up if you have a local gander mountain. IMO its a pretty good deal
