  1. I would like it to quit so that I can go fishing! Yesterday was ideal fishing weather (overcast high of 65 hardly no wind) but I had to work >. I have school on Mon-Fri and I wanted to head out today but the temperature dropped last night and it's going to rain all day. All this week it looks like rain!!! I might go in the middle of the week after school, after all it's going to be warm all this week (highs in the mid to upper 70s!).
  2. What kind of jon you have? Is it a V hull or flat bottom jon? If it is a flat bottom jon then this trolling motor would be the best buy since out of 43 reviews it recieved a 4.4 out of 5 and also it has a good thrust for a decent price. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0017815013620a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH&returnPage=search-results2.jsp&Ne=2510&noImage=0&Ntt=trolling+motors&Ntk=Products&QueryText=trolling+motors&Ntx=mode+matchall&N=3238&redirect=true I am thinking about upgrading my trolling motor on my jon but I have a transom mount. Mines a V hull, and I currently have an older model minn kota 27# thrust which for me ain't enough. I am thinking about getting a 40-50# thruster to really get around the lake. The second link one is out of stock online.

  4. what I understand is, before a rainstorm hits and after a good rain, fishing is at it's peak. Before the rain comes the pressure builds up and the skies become cloudy, preventing the sun from penetrating, this allows bass to move into the shallows to feed. After the rains, you can find bass in most run off areas (mostly creeks) because after the rain, the creeks will become more flooded, washing crayfish and other food particles into the lake or pond, smaller food fragments are washed in, attracting bait-fish and therefore bass follow. I've had luck during the rain also. During the rain the bass are semi-shallow (5-12') I assume that the noise of the rain hitting the water spooks them a little from going too shallow, but the overcast skies is perfect weather for them to move into the shallows to feed. 5. Looks like she ate the leopard!
  6. Ranger? I am more of a skeeter kind of guy If I were to get married and buy a bass boat I couldn't afford another bass boat and have to settle with this set up!! lol! Once I get out of college and get a good job (depending on what it is), I would be able to afford a good boat. But like I said, depending on the job determines how often I will even be able to fish lol!
  7. The fall in popularity means that if you throw one there's a heck of a good chance one will nail it. Bass are smart critters, if they see and strike the same lures from different people they learn that they shouldn't hit it. However if a lure is not presented to them much they will fall for it! I love the spinner-bait, it is a lure that can be used in all occasions and in many presentations. My #1 go to bait is the spinner-bait!
  8. My first bass being 3 pounds 10 ounces when I was 6 or 7 had me 'hooked'. I caught it at my parent's friend's pond on a beetle-spin. She was a monster to me! I been chasing bass ever since!
  9. sounds like something worth catching. Maybe a musky they are big and toothy. Might need to go with a good leader and some stronger line. Good luck!
  10. I like it still "mooing" Medium rare for me!!! We had chicken n' dumplings tonight! My fav!!!
  11. Well my dad and I were searching around in the phone book looking for a boat dealer to buy a trailer for my 12' V hull jon boat. We called around and some places didn't have any and in some places they were asking too much. But in Culpepper (Va) we found a place called American Trucks and Trailers, and they had a 14' jon boat trailer with the winch, adjustable roller arms for $650. So I took $750 out of the bank and headed up there (considering the price of tax, and the price for the electrical hookup kit for the truck, etc). It was a very nice 14' galvanized steel jon boat with 8" tires. So we asked the dealer if he had bigger tires for it, which he had some 12" tires and for $70 extra he would change them out. In the end with tax, processing fees, the new tires, wiring kits, 1 7/8" ball, etc. It ended up being $750.48. Good thing I brought the $750 and then had a dollar more in my wallet lol! It was a good deal compared to all the places I went to. In some places we called and I visited they were asking for $700 just for the trailer, not including the winch, etc. In the end I am happy with the set up and with the help from dad we got it all adjusted to fit my jon boat. It sure beats man handling a 160 pound jon boat in and out of the back of the truck!!! Now I can easily back it down, tie the rope to the trailer, let it drift off a little, pull it in put it on shore and park the truck. Then when my fishing is done I can back the truck down and drive the boat onto the trailer! I can't wait to take my set up to the lake. From the looks of it all this week we are getting rain, but the day that it is going to be nice, I will hit the lake!

  13. That was funny but can I get my minute back?
  14. I was wondering about yalls preference in speed during the early spring and about your presentation all together. Generally when I fish a jig I use it much like a shaky head rig. I cast it out there and let it settle and wait a few moments, then gently 'popping' the jig to make it shake and move towards me slightly. I vary in speed however. I was wondering at what speed do you guys think is effective in catching bass in the early spring? (Obviously a slow one, but how slow? and what is too slow?) Suggestions?
  15. I am surprised nobody picked Wesley Snipes from Blade!! 1.) Wesley Snipes 2.) Chuck Norris 3.) Arnold S. 4.) Clint Eastwood 5.) Bruce Willis
  16. I would use a spinner-bait. You can helicopter it, hop it, swim it deep, shallow, wake it or buzz it! You can use natural colors in clear water and bright colors in murky water. You can fish it fast or slow roll it.
  17. Very interesting...but I couldn't help but notice the title..."Rodrigo Y Gabriela's video 'For Diablo Rojo'" I am currently taking spanish in college and so far "Diablo" is devil and "Rojo" is red. So literally "Devil Red". I just wanted to make that clear, pretty sure nobody would care....still a good video none the less, wish I could play guitar like that!
  18. Wouldn't hurt to try a rattle-trap as a search bait. I would throw jigs, rattle-trap and even go with finesse fishing (small and slow). Your craws will work also. If nothing gives, try throwing cranks, and minnow plugs. You can also try flukes.
  19. I don't see anything wrong as long as there's rules and adults or officials making sure things don't go out of hand. And I agree that is a great teaching tool in self-defense. If you teach a kid to self defend himself when he grows up to be a man, he will not fear anything and he will defend himself and loved ones. Now for kids I would agree with the use of padding, etc. to protect them as they are fragile when young. I see nothing wrong with it what so ever.
  20. Almost look like round rubber skirts...I perfer Silicone. You can purchase skirt material for jigs, spinner-baits, etc. from Barlowstackle.com or any other tackle site. A few to name are: >Barlowstackle.com >http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/skirts-material/ >http://www.lurecraft.com/catalog.cfm/materials%2d%7eand%7e%2dtools/skirts Here's a few links to Silicone Skirt material: http://www.barlowstackle.com/acb/showprod.cfm?&DID=6&CATID=65&ObjectGroup_ID=223 and rubber: http://www.barlowstackle.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=6&Product_ID=1904&CATID=65 Just placed an order with them, I am getting the silicone skirts as they have better patterns.
  21. Tip: Take out as much bluegill as you can. If there are too many bluegill in the pond they will wipe out the bass population. How? When the bass spawn they lay their eggs right? If the bluegill are outrageous in numbers they will draw the bass away from the nest and devour all the eggs in the nest. The best bet will be to downsize the bluegill population and restock the pond with bass. It would also be advisable to stock the pond with fathead minnows to ensure that the food chain is in proper balance. Another tip: Do NOT stock Crappie!!!
  22. Well since we had that thread on Ric Flaire, why not make it "Most "O"s on WOOOO!"? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :

Most people can watch a slaughter house video or visit one and want to become a pescatarian or a vegetarian for that matter. As far as I am concerned, I love meat! Can't live without it! One video my mom saw on the news was inhumane and cruel. Cattle ranchers were abusing their cows that were soon to be slaughtered by punching and kicking them, hitting them with garden tools, pushing them over with forklifts, dragging them by their legs and all this abuse for no reason. There's no reason why one would torture an animal. No matter if it is about to be slaughtered or not! >
