  1. What is the best alternative then?
  2. When the topwater bite is on, I know a lot of anglers will throw a topwater because it is so much fun to see the strike. But my question is, when the topwater bite is on, is a topwater your best choice, or do people throw it because it is more fun? If the topwater bite is on, is there a better alternative?
  3. I have the 703 and it works great for jigs in the 3/8 oz range and senkos. I would never throw a crank on it though, its way too stiff. If you throw cranks a lot, invest in a crankbait rod. Definitely worth it and you can get a good one for relatively cheap. I think there are better options in the 170 range, but my savvy works great for jigs in the 3/8-1/2 range and senkos and I am happy with mine.
  4. I live in Washington and know what lake your talking about. Its fairly shallow compared to the many deeper smallmouth lakes in washington. Heavy trout lake, but good numbers of largemouth too. I would personally throw a spinnerbait over the shallows for largemouth or a fluke with a nail weight or a light texas rig. Something to get it to sink a little faster. A senko is also a good choice. Good luck in the tourney.
  5. Ive had a grocery bag full of 6XDs and other hooks in there as well as my carry on with no problem. From Texas to Washington
  6. Hey guys, I have a Lowrance hds 7 gen 2.im fishing deep clear lakes for smallmouth and I have no problem using down scan and side scan. But can't figure out the sonar part at all. Everyone I see works great, but with mine I see either nothing or a big blob of red. I can't get my settings right. What settings should I use to make it work best? Thanks
  7. Drop shot. And after that, drop shot again
  8. And I mean is the Supreme MGX worth the extra $40 just to clarify.
  9. I was looking at a new drop shot reel and wanted to try a pflueger. I like reels in the $100 range, so I thought the supreme mgx would be a good choice. However, with all of the great reviews for the President, I'm debating it. Is it worth the extra 40? Since it's more expensive, will it be noticeably better? Any feedback helps. Thanks
  10. The one I was looking at was the ml drop shot spinning rod so it will be lighter than all of those. So should I expect this one to not be tip heavy since its a lighter power?
  11. I have heard that a lot of the St Croix rods are tip heavy... especially the split grips. I was just about to pick up an avid, but am now doubting it because I hate tip heavy rods... but since the avid is a full grip, will it balance nicely or still be tip heavy?
  12. Between these 6, what would you recommend and why? Fenwick Aetos 7' M/MF $180 Phenix M1 7'2" M/XF $175 Powell Endurance 7'1" ML/XF $150 Powell Max 7' ML/XF Shimano Crucial 7'2" M St. Croix Avid 6'8" ML/XF $190
  13. On tackle warehouse and I noticed the Shimano Crucial drop shot spinning rod was gone. Why is this?
  14. Never done it, but seen a lot of people do it. Seems to work pretty well for them.
  15. Thank you and stay safe
  16. What is a prostaff discount that is currently active? Ive tried a few, but none worked.
  17. Siebert anything is great
  18. I already have a M/XF dropshot rod that I use and love. I also want a ML/XF which is why I started this thread. I love Powell rods and am definitely leaning towards getting the ML/XF Powell Max. What can anyone tell me about that rod? Good to know you love yours bassclary
  19. This ones pretty specific. I need one that is a Medium Light Extra fast and length between 6-10 and 7-4. Price range is 100-175 give or take. Any suggestions?
  20. Great choice on reel. I dropshot all the time and have three rods with Sahara 2500s and love them.
  21. These seem to be two of the more popular lines on here, so just wondering which one do you prefer and why?
  22. Decent, but many better. My choices for a minnow type bait like that are Roboworm Sculpins, PTL JP Hammer Shad, and Berkley Gulp minnows. Alll have the similar minnow shape, but those three work way better for me.
  23. Denali Kovert! Has all the Jadewood features plus some. Feels better and Id pick it over the Jadewood every day. Well worth the extra $30
