  1. Getting ready to get some more jerkbaits for the spring, and looking at these two. Would any of you guys pick the newer flash pointer, or stick with the tried and true original? The flash pointer has a few attributes from the flash minnow and a tungsten weight transfer system, so which one do you guys prefer and why? Im looking at the 100 size and theyre for smallmouth. Sorry if this has been asked already, did a search and found nothing. Thanks
  2. 8lb is the highest I go on spinning reels, unless I switch over to braid. Anything over 8lb on a spinning reel becomes more painful to manage, so I switch over to casting gear when I need line larger than 8lb.
  3. I might be the biggest Hawks fan on the planet, and I haven't had an appetite all day... If that's not the worst call in the biggest moment, I don't know what is...
  4. I dont worry about sensitivity when I buy a rod. The main things I look at are balance/weight and general feel. Coincidentally, the rods that I have that balance best and generally feel best are the ones Id say are most sensitive.
  5. Just got a Diawa PX-R and a DX702C to match it. Should have a blast throwing light drop shots and hair jigs for smallies with it.
  6. Yup. Did get some great deals on them though.
  7. Those are sweet videos Trey. Is the 702c the same blank as the 702sf?
  8. Thanks guys. Will the DX702C work well for the applications listed? Or is there something that would work better
  9. Getting a new rod for my Pixy, and was looking at a Dobyns Champ Extreme. I was looking at the 701c and the 702c. Which rod is the better choice? I will mainly be throwing 1/8 oz drop shots, 3/32 oz shaky heads, and small cranks. I dont want a rod that is too whippy, but I want it to protect 7lb line. Which is the better choice? Thanks
  10. Absolutely love mine. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
  11. got it about 5 years ago at a local tackle shop that has a lot of trout stuff. They discontinued it a year later.
  12. I have a St. Croix Premier 7'6" Ultralight casting rod, and don't know what to do with it. I have a pixy or a revo mgx I can put on it, but don't know what I would throw. What would you do with this rod?
  13. I just got a Daiwa Tatula Type R last month, and I am a little disappointed in its casting distance. My Speed Spools can out cast it, not by much, but I expect more from a reel with double the price tag. Could this be the reason it doesnt cast quite as far as I think it should?
  14. If you want to go out of your recommendations and you can wait for a sale, a Powell Max 3D is the way to go. Can be had for $150 during a TW 20% sale.
  15. Looking good at the 6'9 M/Mod-Fast casting iRod Air for throwing drop shots. It's rated down to 1/8 oz, so I wanted to know how true to their rating they are. Also, for people who own these rods, how do you like them?
  16. The reel monkey got me this year... I got too many reels in the past few days. 2 Abu Garcia Revo MGX 7.9:1 RH 1 Lews Tournament Pro 7.1:1 RH 1 Lews LFS Speed Spool 6.8:1 RH 1 Daiwa PX Type-R 6.8:1 RH
  17. What is the purpurpose of a clicking drag star? Is it all for the higher end feel? Does it affect performance in any way, or is it just a luxury people like with their higher end reels?
  18. I use a 6'9 Mh/F Kistler KLX with a Lews Tournament Pro 7.1:1 and 12lb fluorocarbon line for my weightless senko setup and love it. You posted this in the wrong section, btw.
  19. All preference. Lews Tournament Pro for me.
  20. I live in Seattle too. What baitfish are you looking for? Perch make up most of the fishes diet, followed by crawfish and bluegill and sculpin. Perch are by far the number 1 baitfish.
  21. You should be pleasantly surprised. Very impressed. Hope you like yours as well.
  22. Got it today after a delay by UPS >..... Wow, am I impressed. Excellent rod, wish I couldve gotten a few more. Thanks to everyone for the help.
  23. Natural Colors. I live on Lake Washington, and any natural color works best in Wa. Especially Green Pumpkin, Watermelon, or any brown.
  24. You told me just about everything I needed to hear about it. Thanks Wdy
