When Did You Get Yours?
I bought my boat when I was 26 and I am 40 now. It is still with me today. Original motor and trolling motor. Replaced the carpet once and I replaced it's original seats 2 days ago. i am considering sprucing it up with a new higher power trolling motor and maybe a motor upgrade. Getting a bigger and faster boat right now is really $$.

Fishing With A Frog
Eric, frog fishing is one of the most exhilarating bass fishing applications for sure. It get's your heart pumping when a bass suddenly explodes on your offering. I have two rods dedicated for frog fishing. For bank fishing I use a 7ft MH Avid with 40lb PP on Lews Tournament MG. My other outfit I use out on the boat and its longer stouter rod. Like someone mentioned above. If you have a budget in mind you will get plenty of recommendations. My tips would be: MH or higher Rod, at least 7ft. Braid is a must imho, and 7.1:1 reel preferably. Good luck and welcome to the froggin club.

Braid
Try a non-spectra line and see if you notice a difference. Why do you want to change if you like what you have?

Winter..... where to begin. Our weather can be down right gorgeous. However, those pretty days mean some tough fishing days. During transitional weather like for example approaching fronts, the fishing can pick up some. It can be touch and go for a little while until March roles around and then the fun starts to pick up again until the dog days of summer. Circle of life down here in South Fl.

Time Keeping Fish Out Of Water?
I read the study and towards the end they made it a point to express how the temp of the water play's a role of the mortality of the fish. I know down here South FL, If I keep a bass out of the water for 10min's its going belly up. Our water temps down here in the summer are in the mid '80's and sometimes 90's in the shallows. That will definitely effect the fish's metabolism and stress levels. Just keeping them out of the water for more than 2 min down here and you have to revive them. Although one study said a bass can stay out of the water for 10min, I will still continue practicing keeping the fish out of the water for the least amount of time possible.

Time Keeping Fish Out Of Water?
If you can find that study please post or least guide us were to find it. Did the study specifically involve LMB? Regardless what a study tells me. 10 minutes sounds like a ridiculous amount of time to keep a bass out of water. If I need to remove a troublesome hook, I will return the fish to the water for several seconds and keep their gills wet. If I determine that a hook cannot not be retrieved no matter what I do, I will cut my losses and return the fish to the water. This scenario is very rare for me to happen however.

6.3 # On Frog
Congrats... if that fish was 6.3lbs skinny, I could only imagine how heavy it would have been when it was healthier and plump.

Can Anyone Help With Some Florida Pond Fishing?
Have you tried frogging in the early or late parts of the day. Focus your attention on the areas of vegetation and the culvert that connects to the adjoining apartments. You can throw either a hollwbody or soft buzzing frog, for example a horny toad. Burn the soft frog through the vegetation and see what happens. The hollowbody I would find the open pockets in the vegetation and work the frog back to shore. Study the color of the vegetation. Is it green and healthy or brown and decaying? If its the latter stay clear of it. If its green and healthy focus your attention to it. This time of year, at least in South Fl, where I live, the vegetation in some areas are dying off and the fishing has been slow.

Line For A Bait Caster
Based on the 2 applications you are going to be throwing. I would recommend Yozuri hybrid, 15lb. It's very tough line and its economical. I think its still on sale at TW. Although I prefer braid for frogging, yozuri is a good line to start learning with. Once you become proficient at handling your reel, I would transition to braid. Good luck..

Reel Seat Is Slipping
I had a similar experience with my last Rage rod. There was nothing I could to secure the reel. The epoxy or what ever binding agent they used lost its integrity. Thankfully its a St. Croix. I shipped it back and upgraded to a LTB, problem solved.

Why 60-80 Lb Braid?
50 lb is the max I will go with braid. If someone is snapping 50 lb braid, the line was faulty somewhere between the rod and the lure. 30lb is the lightest I will go on B/C setups. Even then I find it digs in a bit. I am finding the sweet spot for me with braid is 40lbs. On spinner's however I will go between 15-20lbs braid.

Yeah the humidity is brutal right now, George. Sounds like the bass have begun their migration back into the glades again.

Weather App For Phone
Another vote for Weather Bug here. I was also able to download Weather bug Elite a while back for free. I like the Lightening feature called Spark. It can tell you how far the latest strike in reference to your location and the the direction of where the storm is going. The up to date radar is also impressive.

I've Missed This
I like to trim an inch or just shy of it. And that's basically all I do to modify my frogs.

I've Missed This
Froggin was great this past Sunday out in the glades. My top 5 hovered around the 4.5lb and 5 lb range. They were blowing up on that frog!!

I don't know my way around the flats at Lox, but if the weather is touch and go I am like George, the Alley has bridges, tie off and shoot the breeze. Mike, Lox treats you well, heck any where you go usually treats you well, lol... Fished MM35, Miami Canal North, on Sunday and I caught for the first time in while a 20lb bag on just top water bites.

Reached The 4Th Floor Today
Today's my 40th birthday and I woke up to a pinched nerve in my mid-back. Actually, I have been dealing with it and receiving treatment for it since yesterday, but it was not the way I intended to welcome 40. Geesh.... LOL...

Dogs And Gators
From time to time I have seen anglers take out their dogs in the glades. They are very well behaved dogs because if doggy decides to jump off the boat for a swim, doggy will probably not make it back.
