  1. In FL ponds you can take your pick with a variety of soft plastics, and each can work. Survey the water, and look for cover. Focus your attention to those areas. This time of year, a hollowbody frog will work well.
  2. If my lure is stuck and I cannot reach it, then I pull on the line, wrapped around a stick or a rag and I snap the line. It is what it is. On a side note, I have learned not use the "the good stuff" when bank fishing because of the situations posted above. I use cheaper lures on leaders so that the $$ is minimal and I preserve my main line. A 4-6ft loss of leader is not a big deal vs 50 - 75 ft of braid.
  3. Ft Lauderdale or Orlando there is a about a 200 mile difference. If you happen to be in Ft. Lauderdale all you have to do is head 30 min West to the Everglades where you will find some of the best bass fishing in the country. The challenge lies however, if you plan to do only bank fishing. You will be extremely limited. If your family member has a boat then your in business. You can launch at several spots along Alligator Alley and catch fish from all of them. Your other option if you do not have a boat is to rent one from either Sawgrass Recreational (off US 27) or from Holiday Park (off US 27). If you are going to Orlando, fabulous fishing but I can't help you. Maybe someone else will chime in. Best of luck.
  4. When you get your trolling motor up and running report back. I am considering the same trolling motor. Did your mount line up with the holes of the previous mount? How did you secure the mount. Did you have to go under the deck to secure the mount with bolts?
  5. Sounds like you you did fine. Ok, some got away but its expected, that's fishing. What's better than great?
  6. Squirmin what part of FL are you going to first of all? From there a BR member from the area will be able to help you. If South FL, your in luck, there are plenty of us on here. My favorite month's would be March thru June. 100+ fish catch rate in the glades. May and June if the water is low, you can catch some serious big fish. Just ask Mike from HawgTech. He slayed them over the spring and up until recently too!! lol...
  7. WOW!!!.... too bad the fish died though.
  8. Although I prefer H, you can easily fish frogs with a MH. At least 7ft though.
  9. Here this topic is also over on the rods reels section for some reason. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/143869-attractants/
  10. Yeah surprise tangles and backlashes can sure be upsetting sometimes. Especially when you are in a nice area.
  11. Cast to the general area again, but with a different retrieval speed. Usually for me its a little faster. Or throw another bait.
  12. Megastrike: Simple, easy to use, no mess no fuss.
  13. To answer your question, yes.
  14. Considering the dock thread we had on here a couple of weeks ago, at least you were able to flip around his dock without incident.... just a guy venting his frustration.
  15. Enjoy those days... because when its slow its the complete opposite .... lol
  16. Sorry I got to this thread late. I saw frog and jumped right in. I was frog fishing yesterday as a matter of fact, and many of the suggestions that have been given to you is spot on. I quite honestly, did not want to walk the frog yesterday. The fish were hitting at ambush points seconds of the frog hitting the water. All I had to do is twitch twice and the frog was gone. The key thing is however is that approach is what worked yesterday. Next time the fish may want some more action before they commit. Keep practicing walking the frog if that is important to you. I have learned over the years, when frog is on the menu you are going to catch fish. Keep at it.
  17. I actually was planning that this would happen at my spot, and I was right. Very hot weather and high water drives 99% of the anglers out of the area I fish. It was just us and another boat for a little while on a 6 mile stretch of water. Just the way I like it..... LOL.
  18. Fished out of MM35, Miami canal North, yesterday afternoon from 3 to 745pm. Water was high and very clear. Thank goodness for the wind because it was HOT!! LOL... The bite was slow but the fish quality was awesome. We only caught 8 fish but they ranged between 3 to 5lbs. Although the fishing was slow, I was excited for yesterday because not only were all my fish caught on frogs, I was able to break in my new HawgTech handle on my frogging outfit. These handles are AWESOME!! Wrestling a fish with one of these was pure fun and you remain in control the whole time. Til next time
  19. My PB was 7lb 4oz. That was a very long time ago sadly, lol.... Idk remember what I caught it on but I know for a fact I released it.
  20. Keep your head up. I know how frustrating it can be sometimes when the bass are physically active all around you and you can't dial in on what to catch them with. If you find yourself in that situation again, maybe throw a fluke, its a lot more subtle than a buzzbait and spook.
  21. Went out today to the Everglades for bit with my BIL. We got a later start than usual. We were fishing by 2pm and called it a day by 745pm. We were the only boat out there the majority of the time, only one other boat came by after we arrived and soon after left. It was hot, I am not going to lie however the wind was constant so it made it enjoyable. Fishing was slow but the bite's came from quality fish. Total fish caught were 8. Bait on the menu today were LT frogs. Yes it was slow, but when nice bass are slamming frogs I'll take what I could get. Here are some pics....
  22. Nice fish RippinLips!!! WTG!! That is a pretty fish for sure. It's an exciting moment when you catch a PB. Congratulations!!
  23. Residential properties, I stay out of unless I was invited. Industrial parks I treat differently. If there are signs posted for no trespassing or no fishing I am out of there. Some buildings have private security and other's do not. I usually drive up to the security guards and kindly ask them. I also pick the weekends to go to industrial parks because they are basically ghost towns during the weekend, so you will not be interfering with parking. The only people you will encounter more often than not is the police during their routine patrols. I have yet to be asked to leave when they see me.
  24. I went last week, and my question was answered at the store. The Dick's I go to does carry megastrike. I also walked around to see what was available, but some big sale must have happened because a lot of the aisles were almost empty...
  25. These stoppers slip right into tungsten weights to give it a nice snug fit. http://www.alleystungsten.com/Terminal_Tackle.html
