Fluro+Lost Lures=Money Wasted
I tie the Uni knot for FC, tried it with several brands and works well and easy to tie.

Psa Re: Keitech Swing Impact
I just received my first pack of the keitech's last week and WOW do they stink. They have some of the best action though, so worth it..

Broken Off!!!
I have snapped braid twice, both while casting a frog, so far never with a fish. I use lighter line for frog fishing so I am sure that plays a huge part..

Bass And Beavers????
My experience with beavers are limited this year every beaver area was void of bass, however a follow club member states they can be productive with large fish. I am not sure based on my experience, however perhaps when they are gone it makes for nice cover. I do know when I first heard a large beaver slap its tail I thought someone was shooting a gun at us and perhaps that shuts the bass down, although the other location the beaver wasn't as aggressive.

Flw Ban On Umbrella Rigs?
One to many lures are banned by some states it makes sense FLW and really all cross country Tournaments ban this, why deal with state laws when you don't have to? I personally feel that there are others ways to catch them and glad they got rid of it.

My Frog Hookup Ratio, You Don't Wanna Know
As others have mentioned the bass could be trying to injure the frog, you can leave it sit, slowly pull it back or trying a throwback with the same bait and these all work. I prefer having a wacky rigged senko using a weedless wide gap finesse hook and tossing it right back in the same hole the bass made when they exploded on the frog, feel and watch your line and set the hook, this normally gets that fish..

So I Got My Knife Sharpened Today......
This is just me and my experiences but I never trust strangers, especially ones behind counters at BPS or any other chain brick and mortar shop. I heard a BPS rep tell a customer that he shouldn't use BC gear because its to hard to use, another told me that you cant use swim-baits for LMB, I was looking for KEITECH swim-baits . That's a shame, if you bought something save the receipt should have the guys name and or cashiers code on it along with a time stamp that might help your cause, good luck..

Last Time I Ever Help The Michigan Dnr
I understand that in PA the licences are to be displayed so the DNR can visually see whom has a fishing licenses which good for them, but I live in a digital world and I have a copy of my licenses on my phone and that should be all that is required. If they need to walk, drive or boat to check this then so be it, its there job. PA gives you the option to print them out in white(ones that are purchased at brick and mortar are yellow), so I should be able to keep one on my phone as well.. With this being said I do wear mine almost 100% of the time...

Why?!
Last month I lost two big fish and one that pulled lots of drag on a crank bait. I still think about it today but the sting doesn't hurt as bad, last week I caught a 4.5# bass which probably was bigger than the two I missed, just keep fishing the day will come again..

Frog Fishing - How Long Is It?
Yes Nanofill has some downsides but it really cut through the lillys well and it can handle some big fish at least around here. There is no way in this tight spot could I have used my other frog setup, plus this was a trip to my parents and only had room for a single rod/reel so it had to be versatile. Fished the spot again few days later and four fish hit but only landed one due to using another brand frog. This spot is great and little did I know is that you cant take any flotation device back in this area its not allowed in this lake. If a canoe was allowed in this area I would bet money you would find a 7-8#, I have seen them jump. I did wade this time but its so muddy I sink and really hard to access the area my legs got all tore up from sticker bushes..

Fishing Log
While I would love to fish more often, if I am lucky I get time to go about once a month and because of this I keep detailed records. I record details about the lake, the weather, water temps and depths, lures used, lures lost, fish caught on what lures and lots of information on the big fish caught and what stage the fish are in. This helps me contain the bait monkey and buy lures that work and of course has helped me catch more fish. I have an idea of what lures/pattern works in different seasons on different lakes its nice thing to have. I simply created a doc in google drive and update my logs as soon as fishing is done, I can update it via my phone, tablet and or PC/Laptop from just about anywhere.

Abu Garcia Veritas?
I really enjoy my Veritas more sensitive and comfortable to me then my St Croix Premiers, however quality control is an issue. I sent a rod back due to cracked epoxy around the guides but the second one has been perfect. In my opinion they feel like a more expensive rod, light & sensitive but I wonder if there are better in its price range. I have heard good things about Shimano rods, I want to give one of these a try as well.

Flukes
I like using them on a size 1-2 gammy wide gap finesse hook, nosed hooked and twitched them like a jerkbait and or walk the dog with it. I just like watching the action of the lure and start of fast and slow down to a dying minnow/shad.

Best Scent?
I use JJs not so much for the scent but more for the dye (Dual Purpose), I want to try mega strike but I just don't see the need with most of my plastics heavy loaded with salt or coffee anyway.. I did see clear JJs work once as a scent in the spring, tossed a lizard loaded with JJs right next to a Bass and he approached it and sucked it up after he smelled it, I don't think the fish was active and really didn't think he would hit it, I believe JJs played a factor in catching him.. So for me I am still not sold on scents yet...

How Do You Guys Fish The Summer?
If there is good vegetation I start there, later in the day will slow down and use wacky rig and or jigs. The fish can and will be shallow in summer, Bass do not always go deep in some lakes, look for oxygen, cooler water temps and prey items this can be found in the shallows as well. Lilly pads in my area is a killer place to start..

Casting A Spro Bronzeye
Key things with a frog are line, hookset, rod and reel. Line you need braid period don’t use anything else, you need no stretch in the line. When the fish explodes on the lure and you feel the weight of the fish set the hook. Reel up the slack point the rod towards the fish and bring up the rod to 12 oClock. When that fish hits the frog chances are it’s time to set the hook, give it a few seconds sometimes just a second. The more practice the better judge you will be as to when to set the hook. Rod to me is 7ft MH with a fast action. Reel something with a high speed to bring in that fish quick.. I like to bend the hooks out slightly watch Ish’s video on youtube on how to do this it improves hookup ratios.

Flw And Bass Differances
FLW website has full episodes as does there smartphone app, the app contains less episodes then the website, fyi.. Personally I like them both, but I enjoy the FLW more because they have college fishing which I think is awesome.

What Can I Do With An Ugly Stick Ultralight?
I gave mine to my 4yro son, we caught loads of panfish on it.. I will echo another, bass fishing with this rod is hard to get good hooksets, but it can be done just much better tools to do so..

Gycb Hard Baits
I love my GYCB, the company stated they wanted to bring Japanese quality baits with out the high price. They look great and I defiantly want to try some, however to me it seems odd that they offer a high quality soft-plastic at a premium price but these high quality hard-baits at a cheap price, I guess this is what you do when you bring a new product to the market I just hope they work well and stay at this price range.

Frog Fishing - How Long Is It?
Wow some really good guesses, personally if I saw that pic would guess maybe 16-17, but she was 20" she was over the 4# mark. The problem is like some have mentioned no reference point however I am holding her out as far as I can which I normally do in shots and she barely fits in the frame. The only give away is her eye notice how big they are, but your right I could have small hands, but in this case I do not have small hands. Also at this angle it appears that my hands could not fit in her mouth but I had my whole hand in her mouth because she swallowed my frog. Best fighting fish I have ever had, I cant recall how she hit it was that fast but I knew she was big, I never really struggled with a bass before but the amount of weeds she had me caught up in was a mess, however once she broke free and it was still allot of weight I knew she was really big. My largest fish ever in this lake and my second largest fish of the year. Its hard to tell in the photo but about 40 yards out there is a small hole and that is where 3 other fish came from including this girl. What a fun day but sadly I lost my frog ..

Do You Struggle?
Two thoughts come to mind with this statement " Trying to fish jigs up hill from shore" one would be fish position and two would be snags but from reading many of WRB's posts I believe its more about fish positioning. Bass are more likely to be looking into the shallow water from the deep then from the shallow end to the deep, the deep is the escape route, whether its competing with other fish for food or it feels threaten.

Frog Fishing - How Long Is It?
Hello, Went frog fishing on Sunday and sadly for my frog the bass loved it. Something a bit different I am curious to see what everyone's thoughts are on how long this bass is, I measured so I know and have an idea of the weight but that's not really important I want to start a fun post, who doesn't like guessing games? I will say that this was the thickest lilly pads that I have ever fished, using a stradic reel/St Croix Premier Rod with 10# NanoFill and wow could I cast this frog.
