  1. Valid point, I didn't think about a tree line, no tress just small stones you can see people on the bank for 100s of yards..
  2. I am on the bank they went in front of me after I just caught a fish, how I am I too close? If I can roll cast into there kayak they can see me, plus I am 6'8" kinda or hard not to see me. Point is its been getting worse and there is no education on educate in these situation because these devices are so cheap and available, covid is certainly to blame for this, plus lack of lakes close to me is 50 minutes away//
  3. Go another way instead of right over the spot I just caught a fish, I wasn't fishing out of my boat, this was from the bank, most people went other way or a great distance from me. I could roll cast into the kayaks
  4. Roland martins helicopter lure Banjo minnow A-rigs BBZ 8" trout or 10"? For some time Bill dances spiting image, but years ago put a feather hook on the back and its now my goto lure in summer, that I can can walk it. Only caught a few on whopper plopper but in person seen it work wonders, just not me, lol I am sure more will come up....
  5. Susky has a few spill over dams which has taken life, several every year. The water spilling over creates a underwater whirlpool affect that keep you underwater, life jackets wont help, in fact there was a tree the size of a truck stuck under one for almost a year until flooding took it away, just kept spinning... River is very low for this time of year, the suksy was used in logging back in 1800s and has man made log dams that at the time controlled the logs going down the river. Now if you hit one consider your lower unit gone, rocks low water conditions, rocks galore.. The river could be 500 yards wide but only an inch deep the whole way across, very deceiving.
  6. For me lots more pressure and not fishing pressure, but boating pressure, kayaks, paddle boarding, etc. Because they don't fish they have no clue that they just spoked everything on the spot that I just caught a fish, but hey lets just paddle right over it(deeper grass flat) This weekend had 5 kayaks do this two of which were fishing which is sad(should know better), and they were older then me, what do you do(?), I caught 4 nice ones and just packed up and left. In this sense I think the fish might be harder simply because of the amount of people on the water.
  7. I typically neve have my sonar on so its hard to say, the pros says it can so when shallow I don't use them. Pros are making comments about FF pings and they stay 100' of the school of bass.. For me the trolling motor is the biggest culprit, carp are extremally sensitive to trolling motor noise. When bass are grouped up with carp on a calm day 30-40' carp will spook with the trolling motor which in turn spook the bass...
  8. Planning on making the investment into FF sonar, since my boat has Lowrance I am leaning towards HDS12 and Active target 2.0. With that also said local dealerships are all Lowrance.. What is the average installer cost is for this type of system, hourly?
  9. In watching this event and how that bass can be seen but not caught you would think scents would play. I fell for the Bait Fuel scent, I haven't had it work for me but jeez you think they be drowning there baits in this stuff and or something similar, thoughts?
  10. Was a Shimano die hard all my life until I spent over 100$ on the green model and it failed my while fishing in the rain due to a rubber ring they use. Stradics rock but they should for the price! The presidents are heavier but again the price! Switch to the president own 10 of them, had them in the water multiple times, saltwater a few times never failed and after each season I tear them down, clean and grease and they work amazing!
  11. Carp break the surface for three reasons I know of, clean there gills typically from mud, get a gulp of oxygen, spawning which you when know when that happens no bass with be near that process. When I target SMB chasing carp it will be just that, typically a single carp or a small group 2-3 forging, I can see the carp, I never see them breaching the surface when fishing this pattern. With that said try it and see what happens, at the very least go over to the are and see what it looks like, I would "assume" its a muddy and not a good area for SMB.
  12. My favorite jerkbait past few years has been the 6 sense Provoke, price is right and hooks are awesome and best of all the package is correct when it say suspends or floats. Also a fan of Rapala shadow rap series, hooks decent but what the package states it will do, float, suspend, sink. Strike king makes a good deep diving crankbait as well. I wouldn't worry about size right way, I like jerkbaits with 3 sets of hooks but if your baitfish are smaller maybe go with a smaller size, I catch 10" LMB on larger jerkbaits all the time so for me size doesn't seem to matter. Match the colors of forage in the water you fish. General rule Suspending is good in cooler water/summer and fall Sinking fall season/summer Floating summer/fall But bass don't always read the same books we do so experiment.
  13. Jerkbait Wacky -worm Jig Chatterbait
  14. If your fishing without electronics on a large body of water using a drop shot as a search bait doesn't make sense to me. Small body of water, sure I do it, just not in a stump field, grass I will use a buba shot or mojo rig. In a stump field rather use a jerkbait that cant snag the stump field and if I see fish I will change to a wacky rig and cast to each stump.
  15. At least the guys sharing where just that, I couldn't find any more detail than what was provided. I have heard Bass fishing in Japan is tough and maybe having all those electronics is the norm to be competitive? Five FF sonars, I cant even get one lol. We have had so many amazing techniques come out of Japan this could just be the beginning to thew wave of electronics.
  16. Watching Ben for sometime and the man understands fishing and how to target and catch big bass. Cant wait to see how he continues and what he does in the classic.
  17. Randomly watching without sound why on earth is the leader right next to another angler, enough that the other angler pushes off using his competitors powerpowles, what am I not hearing/missing! What place is the other guy in??
  18. The lighter the leader strength the more wraps I use. For 6# I will do 28 wraps, 8# 26 and 10# 24 wraps. Make sure that the floro tag line are prallel with the braided main line and using a hitch knot make sure you tie two opposing knots. Tighten the knot by pulling the main line and leader fairly tight to make sure nothing slips, then cut the floro tag as close to the knot as you can. Tie at least 4 more opposing hitch knots using tag end and then cut the tag end, pull the leader and mainline half as much to bring in your tag line that you wrapped 4 times. Confusing as hell to read but watch salt strong videos on tying so you can see the whole process.
  19. In the Susquehanna River shallow water to me is less then a 1'. Typically big fish are loners when not in a feeding mood, however I have notice many times a wolfpack of 2-3 large smallies 16" plus together while in a feeding mode, typically lagging behind a large carp forging and stirring up small prey items or in a bait funnel area with current.
  20. Ben is one of the few utubers that impresses me, I been wanting him to try some higher level events and he is impressing me again! Plus 6sense baits flat work, caught several big bass on the swim jig and jerkbaits. Its not just big bass, he catches huge trout as well, guy has got the juice!
  21. My electronics are on the low end, I would love to use them more but I fish smaller lakes and the river so not very useful in those bodies of water. I would say I use them maybe 10% of the time I am out on the water, manly to make sure I am not too shallow or to find grass.. With that said I want FF sonar and would hope to use it daily, but really I just want to fish, well catch lol..
  22. I didn't see mention what types of bodies of water you will be fishing so assuming its not the great lakes sizes I would buy aluminum. I own a G3 19' and I with my motor trimmed I don't get blown around any more than the fiberglass fellows. I have also ridden in, ranger, triton, skeeter, lowe, nitro, crestliner and bass tracker and while the fiberglass is faster I would put my deck space and stability up against any other the similar size fibers glass. The smaller aluminum tend to get blown around and anything over 19' seems to handle the wind better. So if you leaning towards a smaller length boat fiberglass will certainly be more stable.
  23. Susqy has loads of leopard frogs and believe me SMB eat the heck out of these things, as do LMB.. These frogs do not get very large and especially the tadpoles feed many bass.
  24. Technology is here to stay and will continually evolve. As I have mentioned on Randy's Bs tube channel a few times; what is the difference between his team doing an on the water lesson or paying for his GPS coordinates vs livescope, none! Convincing my wife to allow me to purchase, this is my problem, I spend enough on fishing so I am not complaining but its my next large purchase. To see how a fish reacts in its own environment to my attempts at catching it would be the best teacher I could have up till this point. To gain confidence in certain baits would be another huge plus!
  25. Hello, We are staying on the ocean side, with a golf course fairly close. Gators a concern on these ponds? Jason
