  1. bruiser baits rad shad, best out there imo do wish they had a few more colors though
  2. two different rods for me..... i wouldn't use a cranking rod for topwater.
  3. +1000000000000000 my thoughts on it exactly also about the question on drop shot using braid, in my experience drop shot is generally done on taught line where braid would be acceptable. Also yes u can really tell the difference on slack line bites. First time i felt it it startled me because i had never felt it before
  4. redbuds blooming means crappie are on nest.
  5. Can I ask why? I have an energy that's is twenty years old and still works great though I no longer use it. I have a smoke that currently use and is a fantastic reel.
  6. i generally dont recommend shimano rods, they are just not my cup of tea. having said that i have a claurus cranking rod and really like it. its a shorter medium but does very well for what i use it for.
  7. umm brush hog, ribbontail worm, brush hog, 10" worm, brush hog, space monkey, and did i mention a brush hog?
  8. i actual just found a couple of different hooks to match the tubes. even though they both may be 3/0 for example some have a shorter shank that will work the the smaller body tubes.
  9. i slayed them last fall through early winter here, but really have never tried them before then so...............
  10. People use to use the small rapala floating minnows all the time.......
  11. They seem to run true to power IMO. If u need a mh get one of those, if u need an h Get one of those.
  12. go with the carbonlite, love mine
  13. U have to order the kistler klx straight from them and it is by far and away best rod in that category. Research them a little, they are getting rave reviews. If u don't want to do that I would actually lean towards a bps carbonlite. Got a couple and they are super senstive especially for the money. I have heard good things about powell never fished one. Duckett feels good in the stores but again never fished one. Another one that doesn't get thrown around a lot is a quantum smoke. Guy I fish with has one and it seems really nice.
  14. i hooked my personal best last year. got it in and thought man that is a decent fish. stuck it on my scale and and it said 5.4. thought uhmmmm looks bigger than that to me. threw it back and went on. couple days later i got to thinking about it and went and grabbed my scale. im in hvac and have VERY accurate scales used for freon. stuck some stuff on the scale until it weighed 5.4. then moved it over to the freon scales...........7.4. point being check your scales because they arent always right either!
  15. A rods weight is basically a "guide" saying that the rod was designed to optimally through a certain amount of weight. Most people will occasional go over, usually not even realizing it. No big deal 99% of the time. Too much over and u can break the rod. On the opposite side when the weight is under the rod won't "load" correctly on the back swing and the lure can't be thrown as far. Part of throwing with a baitcaster is getting the rod to load up and sling shot the bait. I wouldn't worry about the 1/4 baits and just use them realizing it may be difficult to throw them as far as a heavier bait. Before u head out somewhere practice with something heavier so u can get a feel for how the rod and reel works because it will be much more difficult with lighter lures.
  16. Tubes and tiny brush hogs.
  17. I don't personally care for the skeet rods, I would go for the bps.
  18. i use sunline shooter now. love it. i also use some invisx because its soft and supple. its not quit as abrasion resitant though.
  19. Don't have a pic but about 3" or 4"
  20. Who watched the finale? What did u think? Carl has gone off the deep end!
  21. Ahhhh!!! I miss read the rules, thought there was an actual fee.In that case I'm all in!
  22. I'm interested but u didn't say how much the entry fee was?
  23. Yeah.... not right. Some are built in the same 3rd party plant which is why u see similarities. They are built to each company's own specs.
