  1. Post back your results. Maybe at least the rain and storms will be quite during the morning hours. You don't have to stray very far from Goat island to catch nice fish either!!!
  2. I found the answer on another forum already. Boat is 16ft exact.
  3. Anyone know the official listed length on this boat. I just purchased one over the 4th and the current registration card is unreadable. There is a considerable difference in registration cost for boats 16 ft and over compared to soy 15' 11". Just trying to find the coorect lenght as Google is not helping.
  4. Just added boat #3 to the stable. 1995 16ft alumicraft with 1999 50hp Johnson. Custom painted by previous owner who is a bodyshop repairman. Very very nice camo job.
  5. I have to agree with the O.P on this. I have (had) 6 Shimano reels and all have broken. They were not the top of the line but not bottom barrell either. I have 10 Garcia Ambassadors that cost much less with some being over 20 yrs old. All still work like they did when new!! I have many other brands also including BPS and they have all outperformed Shimano. I have the same luck with Sony electronics also however so others mileage may vary.
  6. Just added another one to the stable today. 95 Alumicraft Angler with a 99 Johnson 50. Custom painted by the previous owner who is an autobody repairmen by trade. Very high quality paint job that basically sold the boat for me.
  7. Wayne is spot on about the auto switch. Go with electronic if possible. My 21 ft Stratos stayed airborne more than not and I constantly broke the bilge pump switches and they were almost impossible to get to. Finally went to electronic after talking with a friend and end of problem up until I sold the boat several years later. That was the one and only boat out of 25 I have owned that ever had auto bilges.
  8. Well after nearly a year of looking I just bought this for $3500. 1996 Alumicraft with 50hp Johnson. The owner standing by the boat is a bodyman and painted the entire boat camo at the body shop he works at serveral years ago. Very nice and thorough paint job that I thought was factory until he told me. Much rather just spend 3500 now instead of 15-20K on a new one like I was planning. Now to bring it home tomorrow after the banks open (need to take him some more cash) and start the modifications!!!!
  9. Not nearly enough
  10. I just got a new fish cleaning board and it came with a metal stone of sorts that is suppose to remove the fish odor from your hands. I have seen them on TV before but haven't tried it yet to see if it works. Called Wonder Bar.
  11. Nice catch!!! Been doing the same this year. First time bream fishing in nearly 30 years and having a blast. Our local agency lake is full of big bluegills and redears.
  12. Why I have to love my little baby bass hunter. Wheels built in!!!! This little boat is heavy for what it is however even empty.
  13. Forecast here in Tenn is showing 100+ continuing all week through next Sun at least. If we don't get some rain here soon fishing want matter unless fish can survive living in dust :sad10:
  14. I am left handed so luckily not necessary for me to switch
  15. Try the channel edges and especially the stump flats on either side. The rock ledges seem to produce better numbers for me but the flats are usually where the big ones are, especially Smallies seem to be at night.
  16. Big ice chest full of ice and water. Dip a big white towel in the water and rap it around your neck. Repeat as needed!!
  17. What Roadwarrior said. You won't find many people fishing the river below the dam at night. I would recommend fishing the Yellow Creek area of the lake at night. Black jigs or spinners equal large smallmouth and largemouth from stateline ramp on down the Tom Bigby and out to the mouth of Yellow Creek. Just be prepared for large wakes sneaking up without warning from yachts and barges. Also be careful of idiots sitting out in the middle of the lake with no lights on!!
  18. The Express was a very nice boat just no storage. The Crestliners were the Storm models which are the same as the Lowe Stryker. I have owned two Lowe bassboats over the years plus three other brands so trust me these were not up to par with past boats. I was hoping to look at a Crestliner 17Vt they showed in stock but apparently it had already been sold. Going to look more at the Lowe 175 Stingers as they have a lot of storage and a nearby dealer has much better prices than I was thinking they went for. The town of approx 100K that I live in has lost all of our boat dealers over the last few years so it is a pain just to go look at new boats now. ! hour drive to the nearest one:-((
  19. I went and looked at the new Express in person today. Was not impressed to say the least. Only one storage compartment and a small rod locker. Also looked at 2 new Crestliners and the quality of the interiors, especially the carpet jagged edges everywhere, was very disappointed. The search continues!!! I plan on this being my last ever boat purchase hopefully so I want to at least get it right!
  20. I keep my boat and camper under a metal carport on my large side lot next to my house. Never want to have to pay someone else storage fees plus it's nice to not have to go elsewhere just to get my property in able to use it. Locked up with as many heavy chains and padlocks as I can get on it also since I am not in the very best area.
  21. You will love that Lowe!! I have owned several Lowe bass boats over the years and IMHO are one of the best boats out there. Been through many situations of rough weather where we shouldn't have made it back yet the Lowe got us home safely!
  22. My ride. She ain't much but she gets the job done and gets me out on the water after a ten year hiatus due to health issues. 2011 Tracker 1542 jon with 2012 Merc 20 hp 4 stroke.
  23. LOL there are times I wish I hadn't started back fishing. Decision making is no longer my strong point for some reason as I have gotten older.
  24. Following this topic as I have had the same problems over the years. Most every product I tried either did not work or turned the Alum. white. Polishing will not bring the finish back to original after it turns white.
