Got my new Motorguide TR109L yesterday. My wife, son and I installed it this afternoon. It's a 36v motor. In the box was this wire with a 50 amp breaker......what's it used for with a 36v motor? I already have breaker installed near my batteries. Nothing in the manual about it.

Arrived today......will get it on the boat Tuesday or Wednesday after work. Anxious to get back to the cable steer.

Go to the agency that issues the title.......they will have a process of filing for lost title. I would do this before I posted it for sale......just so the selling process goes smoothly.

Get a buddy to help you......just always better to someone available if things go a little sideways. If it doesn't go sideways then it's just easier with people. I change out my impeller every other year.

Yes...I was not only unimpressed with their decision to not stand behind their quick release bracket.....I was beside myself. I will never buy another one from them. I bought a quick release bracket for a minnkota from I think skeeter boats.....modified it and it works perfectly so far. I had one my other boat for a year.......I was really on the fence when I bought this one.....but decided to try again, so I bought another xi5. I might hang on to it for a while and make sure I'm not being hypersensitive to the noise....but I don't think so. I was always saying I want to go back to cable steer everytime we were out on my old boat.

On the 'Baked Potato Classic' road trip 2 weeks ago.......I suffered the birds nest fiasco once on day 2. Just cut it out after 10 minutes of struggling with it and respooled when I got back to my room. Then it happened again on the last day near the end of the day. Cut it out and respooled it again yesterday. I just count that as the cost of doing business. Don't sweat the small stuff. Just like I accept I'm gonna loose lures.....if I'm not throwing where I'll get get hung up, then I'm not fishing where da fish are.

It's very noisy to me.......I'm not sure how much it bothers the fish.......but the steering motor just sounds loud to me. Like I said......I'll miss the pinpoint (anchor lock) and the cruise control and may end up regretting going back to the cable steer......but right now I'm making the right decision.......if only because it sound noisy to me.

My last interaction with Motorguide regarding their quick mount did not go well for me. I was fishing for the first time using my xi5 on the road trip and while I'm on my deck fishing my remote falls to the deck.....the plastic part where the lanyard attaches has just fallen away! I submitted an email Tuesday afternoon asking if I could purchase a replacement remote cover. No email to my response as of yet..............but when I get home this afternoon (Thursday) I find a box containing a new remote for my xi5 from Motorguide ! Pretty great in my opinion.

Thanks! I appreciate the reminder. I was gonna hit the lake this weekend and didn't even think about the anitbiotics thing. I'm currently taking them after a dental procedure last week. Guess I might just stay home this weekend.

when you say smartcraft gauge do you mean one of the gauges or a set of gauges? I currently have speedo, tach, water pressure and trim gauges. Do I need to add one or replace one to get the temp?

Some say atleast every 2 years. I replace mine every year.......small expense to help avoid a big expense!

Decided on the road trip that I'm not happy with Motorguide xi5.....so I ordered my Motorguide Tour 109L today. The xi5 is a very good motor with a lot of cool features. But just is not right for me.....so after I get the new motor I'll be selling my new (fished with for 2 days) Xi5. I am sure I'll miss the pinpoint (anchor lock), the auto pilot and the ability control the motor regardless of where I'm at in the boat. Oh well........I'll probably live to regret my decision.

Interesting...............I've never understood why the helm was on the right side of the boat........in the USA, that is.

Took me a few times of un-hitching my boat to learn how to operate the doo-hickey. Now....don't even have to think about it anymore! BTW.......never any shame in asking about something you do not know about.......it is when you DON'T ask that greatly increase the likelyhood of problems arising!

I agree.....While that has held true on other lakes that I have fished......it didn't seem to apply to Toledo Bend. While it may have kept a boat or two off the water,there were still what I would call a lot boats!

Weather----from sunny and pretty warm to rainy (down pour in my book) all day and everything in between. Mostly cloudy/overcast with just 1 very wet day. Resort is nice with a restaurant....just check the hours on it......closed on Monday and didn't open until 11 most days except Friday, Saturday and Sunday opened at 7. Food was good.....big Mommas seafood local eatery)!was very good. That is one big lake.....I only fished in housen and 6 mile and didn't even begin to exhaust those! If you like grass then this is the lake for you. I don't have any vegetation on my home lake so it was nice to learn some things about that...(thanks Jerry) The attendees were fantastic......great folks..very friendly...very sharing....very generous...absolutely very wonderful people. Wow this was a great Road Trip......I wish you all could have been there. It was just like the other 2 road trips that I've attended minus the number of people, tackle the storm raffle, soirée , burger dinner, Cajun/bbq dinner and banquet. But we still ate every meal together and hung out together at the end of the day........it was just like the other road trips that I've attended......so the spirit was there as always.....so as far as I'm concerned you can just drop the 'unofficial'........it was the road trip!
