  1. Do you guys have any factory rods in the rotation? I have 2. One that I like very much and will probably always keep but I go into the store and handle a few rods and meh None do it for me. I know you guys said it was addiction but I didn't know there was no turning back.
  2. Yup have a few like this and the current/flow dictates if they are viable or not. TELL NO ONE!!!
  3. I have thought about this before. I did not break it down by fish caught but by time/days on the water (d**n skunk) For me personally I am happy with my cost to days ratio and in the end that's all that matters.
  4. One late summer night a year or two ago. I witnessed the most outrageous feeding frenzy I have ever seem. It was at the mouth of a creek and literally ever second there was a fish busting the surface. They were everywhere. I threw the book at them but came up empty handed. Sorry I can't be more help but wanted to share the frustration.
  5. I would just ask why red? It's pretty close to green I think on the color spectrum. For example I'm red and green color blind. That said I really like using yellow and have not had single problem with it bleeding. Only fading over time and becoming dis colored from murky water.
  6. Please whatever you do. Do not use white with a chartreuse tail.
  7. No bass but it's a start. About 2 inches of visibility on the Mohawk and some strong current make for some tough fishing.
  8. I use two different rods for a spook jr and the puppy. Ml or light spinning rods for the puppy. Medium or medium heavy for the jrs and above. Though I have been known to throw the jr on a ml spinning rod though not ideal for me.
  9. I think your going to have to change your YouTube setting as well. Video says it's private. Pretty impressive. The reel sounds like its humming good.
  10. Figured I'd update the completed rod. Rainshadow RX7 781 spin jig blank. For a light power this blank has some power in the butt. I'm going to use it for a variety of light weight lures. The all important balance point. Stainless k series alconites with 4.5 runners Handle taped up Please pardon my feet lol.
  11. They say revenge is a dish best served cold. Also there is a saying the best revenge is living well. Sounds like you stood up for yourself. Hopefully the kid will think twice about messing with you since he now knows he's going to get a couple of lumps too. I'd leave it alone at this point.
  12. Polarized Foster Grants have never let me down $20 at rite aid.
  13. I might get flamed but I was not a big fan of using my 50e for bigger lures namly 3/8 and above spinnerbaits. Bigger top waters or worms etc not a problem but spinnerbaits like I said something about it wasn't working for me. I got a Calcutta and reeling in spinner baits with that is butter.
  14. I throw flukes on a ml spinning rod and a medium heavy bait casting rod. I spent a lot of time trying to find the "perfect" fluke rod and soon realized the perfect rod is the one appropriate for the cover and lack there of, I'm fishing.
  15. I don't think you would have a problem with braid I'd probably go 30/40 depending on the reel. I have an imx 783 and use 12 big game I use it for spinnerbaits and larger top waters mainly super spooks.
  16. If you like to river fish I would suggest a 6'6-7'0 medium light spinning rod or a spinning rod with a 1/8-3/8oz lure rating.
  17. Happy National Beer Day!!! But it's a little early don't ya think
  18. Thanks for the replies guys. Some good food for thought.
  19. I've been using braid with a leader for going on 3 seasons now. I use suffix mono in 6,8, and 10 pound tests. It seemingly works well for me I catch fish. My question is would there be a noticeable difference (sensitivity) if I switched out to some type of fluorocarbon ? My mind tells me no since the leader is only about 5-6 feet but I'm looking for opinions from those that have used both mono and Fluro as leader material.
  20. Looks and sounds like a great birthday with friends, with a few great fish thrown in. Not much better than that.
  21. I like to use 1/0 gamakatsu offset worm hooks for 3-4 inch minnow type baits.
  22. I like the rubberized cork the best then the plastic. Just my opinion.
  23. YouTube is your friend. It's a fairly easy job. The Fuji tip top kits will probably work but if you wanted to get technical you can take a pair of vernier calibers and measure about 1/2-3/4 of an inch below the very top of the rod and get the tip diameter. They are sold in 64th's of an inch. Then measure the guide ring they are sold in millimeters and buy a guide close to that size. I'd buy one guide smaller and larger than what(tip diameter) you get just to be on the safe side. It also doesn't hurt to have a few spares on hand.
