  1. You can add a Flouro or mono leader. I use 20lb braid with 10lb flouro, some guys like the extra stretch mono gives them. Both of them will help the bait run deeper.
  2. A simple backpack can make bank fishing a lot more enjoyable. I have all of my tackle, tools, first aid, rain gear all in one convenient place. Makes getting to the secret spot a whole lot easier. I also bring two rods .
  3. Shaky head, drop shot and Carolina rig, if I can use them as effectively as my spinner baits and T-rigs I will be happy.
  4. Bassmaster is the only one I'm subscribed to, as a matter of fact I just finished reading the March issue .
  5. That's why I live in the southeast.............Southeast Michigan that is.
  6. I'll take a couple of 45 degree weeks, just to start getting into the swing of things. We had a early spring last year and then a hard freeze. Killed all of the apple and cherry crops. So I'm looking for a more gradual increase in temps this year. Don't get me wrong 60's would be great, just not now. Plus here in Michigan we can't even legally fish for Bass until April.
  7. I use straight braid on top waters, because it floats. Braid with a flouro leader on everything else.
  8. By reading the opinions of the many members on this and other fine forums. After all they have the same goals as I, to catch fish every time we have the opportunity.
  9. I know attractants work for catching bass, and now I know they also catch basketball junkies. LOL
  10. A lure that could cast, hook and reel it self in would be revolutionary, it also would be the end of my fishing days! Hope that day never comes.
  11. For those of us not on the mailing list. The BPS Spring classic is now on line @bass pro.com
  12. Last year for me, by far the rage tail 7" thumper. Of course last year was my first year really bass fishing. I've picked up several types of worms and creature baits for this upcoming season based off of these forums. Netbait, Culprit, GY senko's, and of course Rage tail are the brands I've picked up.
  13. I picked up 39 items for .25 cents ea., a lot of those were generic hooks and other terminal tackle. However I did get 8 packs of 3/0 gami's, two rebel poppers, 3 cotton cordell super spots, two arkie jigs, and 5 packs of luck e strike 4" worms. They have a new manager at the store. She told me that they had more to mark down in the up coming weeks, she also added they wouldn't all be for 25 cents!!
  14. My fishing buddies know they will have an extra limit if I go with them. If I'm catching em, I'm not cleaning em, and I'm not eating em. They know I just go to fish!!
  15. Braid with flouro leaders when needed.
  16. I was told by another member of this forum to put it on everything. I purchased some megestrike in Jan. and that member said that it will do two things for hard baits and spinner/buzzbaits. It will help them go through cover easier and the fish will hold on the bait for a longer time giving you extra time to set the hook. So as soon as things thaw up here in Mi., I am going to be putting megastrike on everything whether it is scented or not and see if it makes a difference.
  17. Using straight braid on topwater, braid with 3ft flouro leader for the rest of my limited setups. Using less drag on reels and one step down on rod recommendations gives me the stretch affect of mono or co-poly with the added savings of using braid for more than one season.
  18. All I know is the majority of my plastics have scent in them and I've caught fish on all of them. The ones without will have megastrike on them this year.
  19. Ditto on the megastrike, still debating on the JJ's.
  20. Not sure about the purse, however I picked up a nice Gander book bag @ the goodwill for $1.99. Holds everything I need for a safe and productive day on the bank or on the water. Diaper bags are also great if you can find one in a neutral color!!
  21. Watermelon red, and pumpkin seed were my go to last year. I added black and motor oil for this year, we'll see how those work.
  22. Megastrike strikeback spinnerbait, Culprit fat maxx worms, Stanley vibra shaft spinnerbait.
  23. A regular pair of Fiskars works fine for me.
  24. All of my spinnerbaits that I used last year had trailer hooks on them. Every fish I caught was on the main hook not the trailer.(the trailer hook did catch my thumb on more than one occasion as I tried to get the main hook out of the fish) So all of my new spinnerbaits for this year will not have a trailer hook, might experiment with a trailer instead.
