Never seen the recon. I am wanting to get another Veritas Winch 6'8 medium, but every place that has them in stock, I can't find one that doesn't have some flaw in it. The 4 at BP were taken down after I showed the mgr. the QC of them lately is getting out of hand

I figured. It hurts to say this, but the Shimano Crucial I bought is a sweet sexy rod. Black with white writing, EVA spilt with 100% full exposed fugi reel seat and fugi guides. And pretty d**n light too. I love that thing. The warranty is perfect too If I didn't find two Gloomis GL2's for 109 a piece the other day, I would have gotten two more.

Are you wanting it for the color along with the quality of the rod?

Is this reel for pitching and flipping only or are you going to use it for other things? Reason I ask, is several guys I know love the SX mag break only for flipping and pitching only. Lots of drag and very strong. I'm with T, I really can't stand a mag only reel for all around casting. To go along with T, the STX is a great reel. I have two gen 2's and they are tanks. There are still several gen 2's out there for 160 new.

Whats the lightest bait you've thrown with the 100 and had good results?

Whats the warranty with Powell and with the store your buying it from? I have used 10-20 casts a few different Ethos rods from Academy. They are good rods, Sensitivity is fair. Its not my Loomis or Crucial, but they are good rods. Plus Academy has a no hassle return policy on them. Any Academy, any place, as long as you have your receipt. I cant speak of the Powell, as I have never even seen one, but after being on these boards for awhile, I have noticed the majority of people who own them here, have nothing but good things to say about them.

We had a low but I was at that game. Road games are a different world. OU was the better team that day. Keep in mind we beat the tar out of OU in Lawrence this year too. OSU'S on fire but were out for blood. O and the Koolaid tastes much better than Krugers

What power rod do you have it paired with if you don't mind me asking? Also what's the lightest bait you've thrown with great distance?

I am thinking about adding a uber light weight reel to the arsenal in about 6 months. This will be for very light spinner baits, little cranks, drop shot, small tubes etc. I prefer bait casters over spinning and will be using some light weight line with this reel too. I've narrowed it down to two reels. Mainly because I like these two brands and I can work on them if need be. I'd be interested in hearing the pros and cons in both if you've used or own them. I've heard some people talk about the core needing to be the 50 size to use for finesse baits. Is this true or will the 100 work just as good? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for jumping on this. My question was actually geared to using Megastrike on a Strike King coffee tube when sliding a weight inside the tube for lube and to make these finicky Oklahoma bass hold on just a tad longer. Your videos have got me dang near sold on it. Attracting the fish is my job, I just want the little buggers to hold on a sec longer Thanks again for jumping in!

Agreed but with JJ's I can notice a big difference in how long the fish will hold the tube before spitting it out. The videos on Megastrike have got me sold. I should hopefully have some to try these days off

I got to thinking about something last night. When is using fish attractant on your plastics, to much? I love steak and I love sushi. But on the same bite, not so much. I use alot of Strike King Plastics, mainly for the coffee scent. I love it and have great results, but like to put JJ's or other Attractants on them too. When does using it mean to much?

Not that I've read. I have a fishing partner that puts it on everything and has never said anything about it.

Always jigs for me followed up by tubes.
