  1. I need to check mine out. We had 3 brand new stores open up this year too.
  2. All my life I've been primarily a jig fisherman. Every jig I have owned or used in the past had one or two rattles on them. I had really good luck all my life using them. With that said, last year after joining this site, I got turned on to North Star Jigs. I bought and still have a bunch of the Pro Series that had rattles on them. When I got low, I bought more. Never actually noticed they didn't come with rattles anymore. I just threw on a trailer, dipped it and went to town. Until I realized they didn't have rattles, I had been catching fish for weeks on them. I can't say that I noticed any difference with or without them now. Now that's just my experience with them. Others may and will be different.
  3. I figured it had been awhile. Thanks for all the info
  4. How much line is on the reel? There should be around 1/32-1/16 of an inch down from the beveled edge of the spool sides.
  5. What about the Srike king Series 4 and 2.5 squarebills? They seem kinda heavy for a medium
  6. For me it's everything but cranking and spinner baits. I only have two reels in 6 gear because Abu doesn't make the S in a 7 gear.
  7. Yepper, I get big fish, and North Star gets 1/4 of my paycheck lol
  8. I don't totally agree with him on that. The Veritas is a great rod. Fantastic rod and Abu has the market covered on 100 dollar rods IMO. However their quality control flat out sucks.I was trying to find a decent 7' Winch on Friday to make my top water rod. 7 total rods I looked at. All same models and all same length and power. All 7 had something wrong with them. I would say that's its Bass Pro and their customers doing it, but more and more I hear of the same coming from all over. I know Abu/Pure fishing will take care if them, but it kinda sucks. Again the Veritas, when perfect, rocks out like a kegger and strippers. I agree with him on the Sellus rods. They are over priced at 50-60 but they are still a good rod. The Clarus (which I ended up getting) was very very nice. Balanced well with my Revo S and looks great. Life time warranty too. If Abu could some how get the guide issue under control, they could easily charge 140-160 for the Veritas and it would sell. Abu will come out with a newer model in a couple of years, and hopefully all the bugs are worked out. As for the Verdict, the designers need to be slapped. I've never felt a more un balanced rod in my life. That retracting handle messing up accounts for 99% of the negative reviews. So far I'm on my 2nd Shimano rod and I'm very happy. Their QC seems much better in store.
  9. I can't speak for Lews, but I have them on 2 Curado's and a Chronarch with the paddles. It looks kinda different, but works. They stay put too.
  10. If Kelly from Duke can keep his game up all tourney, they have a shot to take it. However two back to back 30 plus games for KU's Johnson and McLemore, have us sitting at an almost guaranteed #1 seed. Remember Johnson was instrumental in taking us to the show last year. In regards to Zona, we get tips shoved down our throat on a daily basis from pros. Mainly buy this do this with this gear and you'll win tournaments etc. Biggest reason I like Zona, is its a break from tips tips and more tips to win win and more win. Brings back why I got into this sport in the first place for fun, to mess up and laugh about it. I've never fished a tourney and would like to but only for fun and bragging rights maybe. I couldn't imagine taking the sport I love and making it all commercial like. As for snow, we got a whopping 2" total over a week. Lots of rain though which we needed something had. We're still considered in a drought.
  11. That action and power would make a great top water PopR rod and a great rod for walking the dog type lures. Smaller ones though. Might make a good jerk bait rod as well.
  12. Up until last year, the only crank bait I had ever used was the Bomber 4A. I've been a jig guy most of my life and never fished anything else much. I got turned on to square bill crank baits after moving to the Oklahoma City area last year. We have really shallow waters and I'm stuck on shore. I was cleaning and arranging tackle during the KU beat down of WVU and noticed that I have around 40 now of various sizes, weights etc. When did square bills become popular, or invented? Thanks
  13. I find it funny that when anyone mentions his name you stop in with a negative comment. I love haters!
  14. Full Metal Jacket Heartbreak Ridge The Last Samuri
  15. 7' H with burner reel for jigs. That will cover everything jig wise for me. Can also use as a swim bait rod, frog rod and flipping. 7' MH with burner reel for for plastics. That will cover Tubes, Texas rigs, small jigs, top water and jerk baits 7' MH moderate for cranks. This would cover all cranking for me.
  16. Maybe it was an Alabama fan. Miles only way of sticking it to the Tide lol
  17. You should see all the Ravens gear at the local Walmart in Oklahoma. It's kinda pathetic.
  18. You betcha it does. I started fishing soft jerk baits this year after watching Bassresource's video on it. Neglected to use a swivel. I seriously thought my Revo S just went belly up. Backlashed every cast. I had micro guides so it was even worse. Had a buddy tell me what I was doing wrong. Stripped the line, used a barrel swivel and no more twist. To the OP, I had thick Bermuda grass. Every bait I throw on the grass in practice, twists up really good. Throw on a barrel swivel and strip the line. Chances are its compromised.
  19. I bought my 2nd Revo S last week but got a Shimano rod instead. Life sucks lol
  20. Sweet. Glad you had a good time. Autographs are always cool. And to "reason" didn't your mom just call you for dinner?
  21. That's what I was leading too. Don't forget endorsement deals too lol
  22. You too? Lol. I am lucky to survive 1 outing with a jig. Hence why I have to buy so many. I am notorious for finding the nastiest hole and pitching a jig in it.
