  1. A good start would be to set a budget first. I have a Shimano Crucial 6'8" top water specific rod that should be here in a couple of days. The reviews on it were really good. It ran 160. Before that I was using a 7' micro Veritas. It runs 70-100
  2. See how smart this guy when the subject is about Abu Garcia????? In a serious note, this is good info
  3. I also forgot to add, that Bass Pro is having a special right now. With order online only, add coupon code VISIT20GC at check out and you get a free 20 dollar BP gift card too. That ends up bringing your total of the rod down to 79.99
  4. What kind of top water and what size of baits? If you wanting something to throw frogs in the slop with, a medium really wont work well. If your looking to throw poppers and small jerk baits, your medium will work great. i If I set myself a budget, I try and stay under it. That way, I can buy extra stuff like hooks, baits etc. Too stay under your budget and get a really good top water rod, give the Micro guide rods by Veritas a shot. I have the 7' Medium fast and that sucker is super super light. I would imagine that the 6'6" would even be lighter. Mine is super balanced with the Revo I have on it. I can throw just about anything with it. When it comes to throwing a small 1/4 Pop'R, it loads well, but is a bit to much rod for the bait. I switched to a glass 6'8" Medium/Medium fast for that, but for everything else, it works great. You're new here so I will let you know about this guy LMG above me......The guy is an absolute nut about anything Abu Garcia. When you see him say anything about Shimano products, hes really just full of it
  5. I don't see where he shot down any idea. I thought this was a discussion forum.
  6. Yep. Most of OSU's are in wrestling thoughn
  7. Also, I just bought two GL2 Gloomis rods off the fle market here for just over a bill a piece. Seller has one more 7'1" MH. That's a 200 plus rod with lifetime warranty
  8. Glad it's just that, an opinion. I have 4 Veritas rods. 2 are super sensitive and the other two are not so much. The lighter the action the more sensitive they are
  9. How bout the Paul Harvey Dodge!!!!!
  10. Yep! I will never get rid of mine. It's in a 4.7:1. Super slow for slow cranking and spinner baits. They are tanks.
  11. The Revo S is a different breed compared to the BP line. The Pro Qualifier is close at 99 dollars. You know only 30 bucks more and you can get an S.
  12. The MGX from Abu is designed for it. It will cast some of the lightest lures. Its pricey, but works well.
  13. No problem. If you subscribe to their email they send those out all the time. I am wanting the Gen 3 Revo Winch. I may hold off until spring for it too.
  14. 3rd gens? I found them for 180 plus shipping was the best. TW has 199 shipped
  15. Not to sound sappy, but my best purchase so far in the last year is this place. Ive learned more about bass fishing in the last year, than I have in the first 32
  16. You can find used PQ's for 50 ish and new ones for 100 from BP. If you order online and put in code VISIT20GC online, you can get a 20 dollar gift card for orders over 100 dollars. That makes your PQ before taxes and shipping 80 bucks. They have the PQ combo for 99 too right now. As for rods, the Veritas is a great rod. I have 4 of them. My 7' medium micro is my favorite right now. Don't look past the Berkley Shock rod for 40 bucks either. Its probably the best 40 dollar rod there is.
  17. I'm calling BS. You know it's an STX buhahahahah
  18. Oklahoma State has 51 titles! Not SECsucks but just wanted rub a little Big XII in there
  19. I'd get nervous at about 110 yards. But I had another idear......that would be a great way to make sure all your line was spooled nice and tight on your reel!!
  20. The PQ has more of a proven track record here and at BP.
  21. Bass Pro Tourney LTD combo. The reel was great. Still wish I had the reel. It was a combo that Bass Pro had on sale for 79.99. The rods were kinda so so but I thought what the heck. I got the 7' MH. I was practicing in the back yard with a 1/2 oz plug. I loaded the rod and it snapped before I ever made a cast. Took it back the same day. 2nd one did the same thing first cast in the back yard. The manager at the rod counter thought I was breaking them on purpose. Kinda acted like anass about it. Returned it and gave me a 3rd. I took said manager out into the parking lot with the new rod and the old reel. Tied the plug and said cast it. The look was udderly fregging priceless. Got my money back and a 10 dollar BP card to boot. Went back to BP for some hooks two days later. All 50 plus combos were off the racks. Note though. This was the only time I have had problems with BP rods.
