I've been back and forth for a few months on my swim jig rod. I finally had decided between 3 rods 745, 744 or 734. I throw a 1/2oz flip n swim jig with Havoc Subwoofer so it comes in at 3/4oz total. I mainly fish open water and get into some heavy brush and grass every once in awhile. I went away from jigs and XF tips and moved to fast tips. Since then my hook up ratio went way up. So I called and talked with Ron at Valley sports for a few then called and talked with Gary Dobyns for a good 30 minutes. Gary threw me for a loop and recommended the 735. Even over both DX series I was thinking of. He said it was the most popular swim jig rod he sells. Even told me if I didn't love it he'd buy it back as he could always use another on his boat lol. I have never really done any research on it but thought what the hell. So based off that, I dropped the hammer on one from Ron. I'm sitting here reading up on the 735. Everything I read tells me it's the go to frog rod. I don't see much for swim jigs. Then I can't believe it missed it, but the rod has an XF tip!!!!! Did I hear Gary wrong or get my numbers mixed up?

I know this should stupid but what does the regular rating on the Diawa Tatula rod mean? i see XF and F but have no clue on the regular. It is a moderate? I ask as I am looking for a rod for lipless cranks and I have a nice coupon at BP I'd like to use. Thanks

I'd call TW and see if it was a mistake. I like to just use my jerkbaits that don't suspend the best and add a lighter hook or two. That way they pull double duty.

I've been eyeballing them for awhike but the suspending models they do have took 3 dots to get it suspend. Our academy had about 3 colors only. They do look good and will come with good VMC hooks too.

Any idea when we might see more colors of tubes?

Swim jig for me personally. I am more accurate with a swim jig and they are more weedless than a crank. I feel for me, I can control a swim jig better around cover or in the nasty. With a crankbait, controlling your depth is much easier than with a swim jig. Crankbaits (rattle versions) put off more vibration and sound than a swim jig does.

Will it float or stand up on a shakey head?

What do they look like?

I would tie on a 1/2oz brush jig in dark green or a green jig with some gold in it along with matching craw. You can pitch or skip it. I prefer to pitch as I suck as skipping. I would also throw a swim jig and trailer matching whatever the main bait fish is.

Which is better dark or white meat on a turkey? You'll get about as many responses to that question as you would the above. What are you talking, spinning or casting? Whats your prefrence spilt cork/eva or full cork/eva? What length do you prefer? That would narrow some choices down. Basically what I am trying to say is there is no "best" drop shot rod. Everyone has their prefence on what they think is the best. For me, I don't fish dropshot every often so I just use my 7' MF Abu Cardinal combo for it.

I use it really heavy on the initial spool up then 2-3 squirts before I leave the house and 2-3 when I get home.

I am border line obsessive. I actually feel a tad depressed from April mid November when college bball season ends. I revolve my work and home schedule around KU basketball. I own more KU shirts, hats shorts and other KU stuff than any man should have. I have a specific song I blare before and after every game. My pregame superstitions would make you think less of me lol. I probably know more about KU bball history than I do about my fiance. I may not speak to anyone for a couple days after a loss. I can become down right unpleasant if we are playing like crap. Most of this comes from watching KU bball with my dad and cousin since I was old enough to walk. Dad has passed so my cousin and I go a little overboard to make up for my dad. If you can't support your team during a horrible loosing streak the same as you can after a NCAA National Championship win, your not a true fan!

Was this really necessary man? The guy asked about Tatsu and what people's opinion on it was. Not a suggestion to use another type of line. Not all fluoro lines are the same.

I hated the 20# after about a month. Had to much memory for me. I have some 12# spooled on my hair jig and tube set up that's been there for about 5 months now. Has some but nothing like the memory I had with 20# or the other fluoro's I've tried. I am pretty impressed with it so far.

Not enough that would make the bait sink that fast. I also stated in the original post that I tried several different bodies of water. 3 lakes, one super clear pond and another mud hole

Good deal. When I started using higher quality hard baits I noticed how well the spilt rings were.

I got ahold of Catherine and she sent me all the info to ship it back. Bad thing is they don't have my color in stock. They are going to replace it with a Pro Blue II. Kinda sucks as I really like the NC Ayu lol.

Mike with DVT can add a full for 50 dollars or so, but I don't know what it would do to the warranty. Either way you've got a really good stick!

It should be able to handle all of that very well. I'd love to go shorter around 7' but they don't make them with a full grip.
