drop shot hooks
Try the gamakatsu glo bug hooks, in a numer 2. These are super strong, super sharp, and are awesome for worms and minnows. The are about 4.00 for 25 pack. Been using them for years with excellent results.

Cold Front!!! Finesse Tactics Please!
Dropshot, splitshot, football head grub drug along the bottom. Very good techniques for cold front fish. Small baits and worms. Also, using baits like the Lucky Craft Staysee 90sp, using a sweep of the rod, then letting it sit there for 4 or 5 seconds, repeat. This is an excellent presentation.

Diawa Crankbaits..
I have a bunch of Japanese Daiwa baits new in the package, and they are excellent baits. JUst can't use that many of them. Finish and hooks are great. Do not hesitate to buy Daiwa, as it is top notch gear.

Drop Shot uses
I beg to differ on it not being a search bait. Look up the swimshot, and it is an excellent search bait. Put on a bigger profile bait, and then search the weed edges, constantly reeling the bait back with twitches imparted in the rod tip. Awesome on the weed edges for smallies, or on the deep flats. Sure you could use a Carolina Rig, but this is just a bit different, and keeps the bait as high out of the water column as you want (adjust the length of the drop). Just my 2 cents....

Drop Shot - Usable from the bank?
Dropshot (downshot) was originally used in Japan (for bass fishing), from the shore, because a lot of the japanese people had no boat, but fish for bass. A very heavy weight was used for the increased casting distance, and did not impede the angler from feeling the fish bite.

There is a rumor going around that trutungsten is going under
I have had tungsten weights produced before, and the expensive part of the tungsten weights is the shipping. They are so dense, that any size of shipment is big$$$$.

two big smallies caught on leave how much do they weigh?
Top fish 3.2, bottom is 3.6.....

Meet the Seahawks- support CAST
How was the event? I asked my kids to go, and they decided that their friends B-Day party would rate higher on the fun factor, so we did not make it this year. Looks like they changed their format, even though last year was a lot of fun, probably better for getting donations the way that it is set up now.

Wenatchee fishing
The Wenatchee Pool can be really tough for bass. We have caught them there, but not in any great numbers. Ended up going to the next pool down and did well. Oh, and if it is a nice weekend, check out the sandbar that is just down the hill from the ampitheater......WOW

lake whatcom
Remember that there are also fish down in the lower part of the lake that spawn a bit later. Harder to find, but they are not as beat up as some of the other areas (North).

Sportsman's Warehouse
I really like the Sportsmans Warehouse in Tri-Cities. They carry a lot of bass gear, rods, ect, and have some good prices on their tackle. Nice to see a stor that has so much, but you are right about the managers. If you get a good manager that is a bass fisherman, he will get in the good stuff........

drop-shot hook
Look into these hooks for dropshot.... they are Gamakatsu (good), they are strong (good) they are cheap (25 for 5 dollars), and they catch fish (good!) Now, the largest size is a number 2, but it has been fine for me, as I have been dropshotting with them for over 5 years. They are called Glo-Bug hooks. Look them up, and yuo will find one of the best drop shot hooks around....

tackle price increases
Please remember that all fishing tackle is taxed from 3% to 10% excise tax, and if it is from out of the country, then it is another 9%. So there is tax before it gets to you. Now that the price of petroleum products is going up, there is even more reason to increase the price. So, the tackle company needs to make money, but so does the manufactures rep (6-10%), and then the ma and paw tackle shop needs at least 35% to 40% to keep the lights on......So that is a lot of the reason the costs are so high.......

drop shot for spawn
I have been fortunate enough to have been able to fish with a Japanese pro about 6 or 7 years ago, when dropshot was actually called downshot. This is what we were doing to catch SO many fish right behind other guys. It works so well, but now that he is down south, fishing on the tour, his methods have changed. He does have it rigged up, and does throw it, along with 4 other techniques to get the bedding fish to bite. It is amazing to watch. Really puts you in your place to see how a pro can figure out EXactly if the fish will bite, what they will bite, and what they need to do to get it to bite....hop it, deadstick, crash it, etc. I guess after seeing and catching thousands of fish, then they can shortcut the means and methods that the weekend angler goes thru.
