  1. Several that really like are.. the Murphy signature, although I think it's just a touch too soft for the heavier baits. The Falcon weightless worm and the Loomis 802 topwater rod. If your on a budget the Denali jadewood crankbait rods work well if you don't mind the 7ft. length.
  2. norman flake, blue bandit, french pearl, pro table rock.
  3. I use a jig rod,MH Fast but I always change the hook ,the daichi death traps work well.I've heard the megabass outbarbs work well also. add the Gammy g stinger, they can be a pain if you pitch the spoons much because it's easy to catch a finger but they definitely help.
  4. The pics I've seen of the rock crawler look really good, some great craw patterns.. It's supposed to be a deeper bait than the wart. I've heard around 14 feet..
  5. I like the pre rapalas but the newer ones will still catch fish, I think the sound is the biggest difference. For awhile the paint on the new ones was horrible but it's gotten better, they have added some new colors this year that will be sold only at BPS . I believe Tim Hughes gave them the pattern's after some of his custom work. There is a green/blue craw, PBJ, phantom PBJ and I think a mossy craw.. The ones I've gotten look really good for a stock bait. Several years ago I paid 100 bucks for a dozen pre rapalas . I wish I had bought more with the way the prices continue to climb.
  6. I really like the Denali Jadewood crankbait rods in that price Range.. I throw the 843 mostly for midsize diving baits and squarebills. As a bonus the 843 and 842 make good jerkbait rods. If you looking for a rod for deep divers like the DD22,6XD ect. the Mojo big crankster is worth a look.
  7. Internal 2. external, whatever the bait and conditions dictate .
  8. Check out the Fliptail Lizard, it has a thicker body than the zoom's and Larew's..
  9. Maybe JM will bring back Champion,, I believe he had some interest in them some years back..
  10. Usually 10lb.sniper, although I've been using 11lb Defier also, really impressed with it.
  11. I'd rather be on it right now through march ,not much boat traffic.. Theres a A-rig bite ,stickbait bite and hopefully the wiggle wart will hang on for a few weeks yet..Nothing wrong with spring time but for the opportunity at bigger fish I'd take my chances for the next few months with a stickbait or the A-rig .There's some pretty good sticks in the local tournaments around here and not everyone's weighing a limit no matter the time of year..heck theres been times in team events my partner and I couldn't put together a limit between us and we have 50 years or so combined on it...just sayin...can be a fickle place.
  12. I wouldn't assume you'll catch 5 keepers a day on table rock no matter what you throw..It can be very difficult. I'd recommend you hire a guide for a half day or so, you'll learn more in a few hours than months on your own. If you decide to go that route pm me and I'll get you some names.
  13. Could be bad for Evinrude and Yamaha given the relationship BPS has with Mercury.
  14. Depending on how much you want to spend the loomis twr802 works really well for both applications.
  15. I use my wiggle wart rod which is a KisselKrafts 843cb for pointer 78's and the zara puppy.
  16. I'm with Ty, I had 6 lews at one time and have gone back to all Shimano and Daiwa. Nothing wrong with Lews it's just a preference of mine.. I don't care for dual braking and had the BB1 pro's I will say Lews has done a good job of marketing , and a lot of folks like them.
  17. I like flouro for crankbaits. As good as Tatsu is, I personally don't think it's necessary on a crankbait rod. I would go with Invizx or sniper.
  18. I believe the fat Senko has been around for awhile..As much as I like GYCB plastics the Z man is better on the Ned rig.
  19. You'll lose a few,I'd start with 2 anyway, that's why I like a hook I can straighten. If it gets stuck get past it with the trolling motor and pull it the opposite direction.
  20. yep, a senko or the zinker z cut in half on a 1/16 -1/1/8 oz mushroom head works good.. I put a drop of super glue to hold the bait.. I throw it on 6lb or what ever I would have rigged for a shakey head.
  21. I have a place on Table Rock so I'll give it a go or at least share what I've learned.. First 1 rig wont be enough they hang up pretty easily with 3 open hooks. I use the 5 wire style mostly , the flash mobs or the ones with the spinnerbait blades on the arms are fine but not nessesary. I use 1/4 oz ball heads on all the arms and cut the hooks off the 2 teasers . I've had trouble with the hitchhikers spinning the teasers. Table Rock tackle makes a nice rig for a reasonable price. I use swimbaits on all the arms, usually Keitech 3.8 s on the outsides and the 4.8 on the long arm. Swimmin fluke jr's and the LPO'S with the grub tail are good also Depending on the weather April may be on the back side of the A-rig bite . Last year we had fish up and on beds , I'd be ready with the redfin, wiggle wart , and shakey head... what part of the lake are you fishing ?
  22. Worm. zoom ol monster Creature. Brush hog Spinnerbait. War eagle Crankbyait. Wiggle wart Popper. Yellow magic Walker. super spook Jr. Jerk bait. Vision 110
  23. I use a NRX 853 for those weights, although a 1/2 oz is in the upper end of it's range I've never had a issue with it.. I also like the 803 around docks.
  24. On the 5 wire I want as long and heavy a rod as I can comfortably handle. I use a 7' 11'' x heavy swimbait rod. I personally don't care for braid so I use 25lb mono. I like to slow roll the rig deep and use 1/4 oz. heads even on the teasers .
