  1. My second choice after the Mega bass has always been the McStick. After that, Pointers and Rogues.
  2. I fish it a lot.. Pretty much with a steady retrieve, The advantage it has over a buzzbait is that when one takes a swat at it you can just kill it without it sinking.. And the fact that you can cast the thing a country mile.
  3. I have a couple I really like for 1.5's, wiggle warts Rk crawlers ect. A falcon cara medium cranker and a MHX 843 blend.. The cara McCelland jerkbait rod also makes a nice smaller crankbait and pop r rod.
  4. ...A 4 power dobyns is softer than a 5...just like loomis,Falcon ect.
  5. Who uses the higher number for a lower power ? I must have missed that...Lews has a Mag bass 1 and 2 but those are model numbers.
  6. I throw the ned a bunch and on several different rods..The lews custom drop shot rod works really well and is in that price range.
  7. The Falcon Cara and KLX .
  8. I use the 7ft.4 power Cara cranker for wiggle warts, rk crawlers ect...great rod. Could probably handle a deep little n ,but any more I'd step up a power.
  9. Although it pushes your budget a bit. I think the cara Amistad is one of the best 1/2 oz.+ jig and T-rig rods going... light ,plenty sensitive and a bunch of power.. Also might want to look at the Kistler KLX.
  10. I've been using it for a few weeks now.. I have the 12lb. on 3 of my jig rods and so far I like it. I don't think it's quite as manageable as sniper and it's a bit larger in diameter. The good news is it ties a good knot and seems to hold up well. Also it's cheaper and it's on a 225yd spool vs 200 for sniper so I can spool 3 reels off of it..
  11. Just one, I'd have to go with pro blue..
  12. I continue to be amazed at how well the little deal catches fish.. We had 22 on it in a couple hours on Table Rock yesterday morning... The best advice I can give is that you can't fish it too slow. I pretty much dead stick it.. or drag it a few inches and let it soak. . I've had days were they would bite it on the hop like a jig, but for me the majority of bites come with it on the bottom.
  13. Although I would almost rather blank casting than resorting to droppin on them, the lews drop shot rod at 129 is a good choice. I use it mostly for a ned rig. But its plenty sensitive and has a perfect tip for the drop shot.
  14. Probably 80% of the Jigs I use are Ernest Langley's. They are hand tied but I would still buy them if he used a collar. Great quality and colors..
  15. I live on Table Rock and if I were looking to hire a guide I would go with Bill Babler , Pete Wenners or Eric Olliverson. . Should be a good jerkbait and A-rig bite goin on..It's never a bad Idea to drag a football jig around here and swim a grub. Maybe some wiggle wart action also. The water temps will be a factor. What part of the lake are you wanting to fish ? If you want to catch some brownies I would be looking in the dam area.. I agree 100% with bluebasser, cold and nasty is Table Rock weather..
  16. I fish both and really like the tatula and the BB1. I would stick with the pro. The externally adjustable breaking is really nice when changing baits or the wind kicks up.
  17. I have a MHX crankbait rod built by Kissel Krafts on the 843 blend blank..Great wiggle wart and 1.5 rod , will handle a deep little N.. I've been very impressed by it., More so than some rods I paid much more for.
  18. I have the 853 in nrx and I think its petfect for 3/8 . I have no problems dragging a 1/2 oz football head with it either. Also have the 894 in glx ,and to me its too tight for 3/8.
  19. I grew up fishing the older baitcasters that were made by Shimano and Ryobi. Even still have one of the Lews branded spinning reels that were made by Abu but I've never seen one with a green hue..Interesting, I believe there was a short time where Zebco owned the name so maybe during that time..
  20. When were Lews ever green ?
  21. Mine stays in the slip year round but always covered and on a lift.. Really convenient .If I decide at 4 am to head out for a few hours I just peel the cover off and drop lift down...
  22. I'd pick march as well but I live there and and can pick and choose my days..The A Rig will get bit into April but that will be the back side of it..the wart bite should be on ,as well as dragging a jig or shaky head..As bluebasser said the ned rig has been solid.. There will be fish on the beds in April ,I fished the FLW there and we were bed fishing in May. Although I like to fish the river, the kimberling city area would be a good choice.
  23. I fished them as a kid. Back then, the abu's were more popular but the lews were always nice with a smaller profile.. They were made by shimano and ryobi as I recall. And there my have been a third manufacturer.. They were nice in the day but no comparison to the Shimano's and Daiwa's I use today..
  24. I would third Tim Hughes... There's a few trout in the White River system so I'm sure he knows what one should look like.
