  1. I think the Yamamoto is a softer bait but I use the Chompers more. I don't think as a jig trailer, one would catch anymore fish than the other. Jewel also sells a version called the J tail that works well.
  2. I have way too many stickbait rods, but I bought one of the new generation Mojo's just for the heck of it. I've fished vision 110's ,pointers and Mcsticks on it as well as spook jr's and sammy's. Great little rod in the price range.
  3. I only use the the surgeons knot. I can tie it quickly in the wind, cold etc..
  4. I use 1/8 oz on all 5 arms . We can only use 3 hooks in Missouri so I cut the hooks off the top 2. I've found that balances the rig better than using hitch hikers. I always use a hook light enough to bend if the thing get hung up.
  5. I don't think the bait matters as much as being able to tell the fish that are aggressive enough to bite.. I fished a FLW event with a guy who spent 2 hours on a bedded fish that just wouldn't bite, and never did. Don't blame him, it was a dandy. I like some kind on lizard or creature bait. White is my favorite color because it's easier for me to see and contrast against the bed. I don't think color matters to the fish its just mad something is on its bed. With that said, I'm not a huge fan of pulling fish off the beds and running them 20 miles to a weigh in..just me.
  6. I never could fall in love with Dobyns, but that's not to say you wouldn't like them. Both are good rods . Just have to decide what works best for you. I would think the LTB is overdue for a update, Wouldn't be surprised it that happens. There's a bunch of good rods in that price range. The KLX comes to mind.
  7. The Expert was a great rod, I always liked it as well as the newer Cara's. My understanding was the cost to make them was just too high so the line got discontinued. I know of a guide here on Table Rock that has a few left but never lets his clients use them. That 6ft x fast would a sweet little finesse jig rod and probably walk a spook as well. That Shikari was a great blank I still have one of the old green cara's that used it. Sensitivity wise they are real close the GLX of that time. if your looking to match it, the Loomis 782 or 783 would be my choice. Might check with American Legacy and see if they have any that have been traded in.
  8. I use the 13lb. for my topwater and jerkbait rods ,also have it on a wiggle wart rod. You won't find a easier handling line, also ties a great knot. Little pricey but it's been worth it for me.
  9. Yes sunline.. My mistake.
  10. The stuff labeled flippin fc has the alternating stripes.. or at least mine does..I've never used the flippin flouro.
  11. I use the Flippin FC in the 16lb on all my football jig and c-rig rods. The green stripes really help with line watching. I don't think the memory is bad at all, maybe not as limp as sniper but it casts and handles well.. I always tie to a clear section.
  12. Could be worse.. To me, Beaver is tougher still.
  13. Love Bull Shoals. Even the holiday weekends aren't as crowded as Table rock..I've never seen it like was described above.. To me, it can fish pretty tough.
  14. The Balsa B and the Wiggle Wart.. I think the pre Rap wart market is safe from the lovino bait.
  15. You may want to look at the Falcon ccm 4-17. Great all around cranker for squarebills , warts , RK crawler ,Deep little N ect. A DD22 or 6 XD is too much for it however, Also makes a nice slab spoon and wobble head rod.
  16. Among the best. I have a dozen or so Cara's and Lowriders.., In general, they fish a bit more moderate than most and are really versatile, My favorites are the finesse Jig rod, Headturner ,Amistad, and weightless worm.
  17. For a all around jig I use the E&L weapon head. It comes through cover well, flips well. just a great all purpose head.
  18. Not sure if you could keep it under 55k but my first choice would be the Charger Elite .Followed by Phoenix.
  19. I throw 3/4 oz. spinnerbaits and Paddletails on a Powell Max 3d 734. For me , it's about the perfect length and has a great tip for those baits. I think you could get away with a 1oz. swimbait head but that would top it out.
  20. Same line of rods I was speaking of.
  21. Shimano bought G Loomis over 20 years ago. personally, I think There's been some pretty good rods from Loomis since then. The NRX comes to mind as well as the new GLX. I think you would have paid to replace a Dobyns also. The only model I have of the new IMX is the 802 TW .Its been a good walking bait rod and I also throw a fluke and a jerkbait on it. I have or have had a 783,843 and 844 in the older IMX and they are some great rods but I like the one new model I have just as well.
  22. I only use guys here in the Table Rock area ,but I think they understand the wart as well or better than anyone. Tim Hughes of Hughes Custom baits and Rob McGilvry of Fall Creek customs. A couple others would be Dave's custom baits and also Dwain Batey.
  23. I agree with Bluebasser, I'm not a fan of braid but for the ned it works great. I use 10lb. to a 6lb. leader.
  24. I use 10lb. sniper, 12lb. sniper and 16lb. flippin flouro.
