  1. I have a Kissel Krafts built on the MHX CB843 blend. Wendy at KK tells me it originally belonged to Matt Arey when he was sponsored by them. In any case, its a great 1.5 and wiggle wart rod. I also throw deep little N's on it as well. It casts a 3/8 oz. bait great. I own a bunch of crank sticks and I like it as well as any.
  2. Chompers or Yamamoto. Actually the the BPS house brand isn't bad either. Salt and pepper or grey with red or black flake pretty much covers it around here.
  3. I'm a big fan of the weightless worm rod.. I throw trick worms, senkos and flukes on it. Around here it's probably better known for being one of the best jerkbait rods on the planet.
  4. I don't get too carried away with jig heads. Just a plain ball head will work fine. Anywhere from a 1/8 to 1/4 oz. depending on the size of the swimbait and the wind.
  5. Any time you kink flouro it weakens it. Tatsu included.
  6. The new ARK invoker is also good at $150. Otherwise, a Falcon Cara or Powell Max 3D are always solid choices.
  7. Yep, Tatsu is the best. Other than that it depends on the application. For stcikbaits and crankbaits I like invisx. I like the stretch and it casts and handles great. On my jig rods it"s sniper and shooter. I think sniper handles better in the lighter weights than shooter.
  8. In that range I would look at the Powell max3d. Also the new ARK rods , The Invoker series is $150.
  9. Yep, If I ever left Table Rock it would be for the Theodosia/Pontiac area.
  10. As I remember Table Rock was over 930 in 2008. All the flood gates were open , was really something to see Table Rock dumps into Taneycomo which in turn dumps into bull shoals. It was a little scary running with all the debris in the water but the picnic table bite was great.
  11. I wouldn't have a problem throwing any of those on the 723.
  12. I've never fished the st.croix, I do own a 723. I usually throw a spinner bait or Buzz bait on it but it's a nice 3/8 oz. Jig rod as well.I think it would handle 1/2 oz . For 3/4 I'd step up to the 734.
  13. To me ,the 873 is faster and more powerful than the 844, The MBR is more of a all purpose taper. The 894 feels stronger to me than the 854 , not sure why, maybe the length.
  14. I like the 854 for 3/8oz. I never could like the 894, just personal preference. I think the CRR 873 is the best of the bunch . In my hands it fishes about a 4 1/2 power. By the time you put a trailer on a 3/8 oz. jig your pretty close to 1/2 oz but I think it's best with 1/2 -3/4oz football heads.
  15. The Predator is a really good copy of the old wart. You can buy them as blanks or from custom painters.
  16. Trick worm and speed craw mostly. BassX 3/16 head.
  17. The new warts are pretty good . Tim Hughes has shared some of his custom paint schemes with BPS and they are great around here. You might want to try the skirmish a10 or the luck e strike g5. Both run really well , I believe Dwain Batey is painting the a10. Honestly I throw the Rk crawler more than the wart these days.
  18. I think Falcon is equal to anything thats out there. I have a dozen or so along with a couple NRX'S . Falcon really shines when it comes to jig rods and jerkbait rods. Although the discontinued shoal cranker was a great wiggle wart rod. I don't just fish for fun but to try to put a couple bucks in my pocket, if I thought a boat full of NRX'S would help me do that I would. Fact is I don't think I can catch a fish on one that I wouldn't catch on a Cara.
  19. I throw most of those baits on a Falcon Cara Amistad. It's a bit more than $200, but worth the difference. Also a great c-rig rod. For the wobblehead I like something a bit softer.
  20. I throw the loon color most. Like blue says, I'm not sure color matters much . I throw it on a Falcon Amistad and flouro.
  21. I've used the 8 and 10lb. quite a bit on my stickbait and wiggle wart rods . Also used it on a spinning rod to swim a grub. Maxima is a good solid line, Handles pretty well and tough.
  22. I like the Falcon McClelland signature stickbait rod.. Also makes a great Pop R and yellow magic rod. also smaller walking baits the a sammy or spook jr.
  23. I throw nothing but War Eagle. Usually purple herring or mouse. I like the gold/nickel willows or painted blades with a cole slaw skirt if its dingy. I really like the screamin eagle model , which is a 1/2oz. bait on a 1/4 oz. frame. I personally never throw braid on a bait caster. I can't see a advantage to a leader for a spinnerbait. seems like a point of failure you don't need. I like a little wind and clouds for the blade.
  24. Yep, Today's mid priced stuff is so good I don't think you need any more. Heck ,guys are making a living with average equipment. .I think it's the Indian not the arrow.
  25. The Falcon Mike McClleland signature is a outstanding stickbait/topwater rod. I throw vision 110's , Mcsticks and pointers on it . Also yellow magics and spook jr.s It is not a buzzbait rod however. when it comes to stickbait rods Falcon has always had it figured out. The signature, jerkbait special and the weightless worm rod are all great.
