  1. There is a local guide here on Table Rock that sells a brand of rod called Razr. The 7ft. medium power casting rod is probably the best Wiggle wart ,Rock crawler, 3xd and small squarebill rod I've ever used . The thing loads and casts the wart great. Also make a nice stickbait rod like the Mcstick and vision 110. It's the only rod of that brand I own and honestly I get a good discount on other brands but that thing is really good. It's the casting rod not crankbait specific. I think they are around $ 225.
  2. Nice fish, and you know how to pick a great breed of dog.
  3. The best money you will ever spend will be on a guide.. Table Rock doesn't spit out many big fish. I did hear the big bass deal was won with one around 7.5 on a Rock Crawler caught up the James river.
  4. The redfin has always been popular as a wake bait on Table Rock. The problem is you may buy 6 to get one that wakes well. The drill is.. the hooks need to be replaced, the back one with a feathered treble. Then add about 3 suspend dots in front of the joint for starters. If it wakes great, if not its onto the next one . Some guys try to heat the bill and bend it down some but I've ruined a few using that method. Chrome/blue or Black and Smokey Joe seem to work the best for me.
  5. I ran a xr6 for years....great running motor, pain to cold start.. Everyone has a method for starting one, sometimes it works sometimes not. Mine was, trim it level, prime it, hold the enricher in for a count of 10 and spin it. Once it spits give it some throttle and try it again. That usually did it. Once it warms you won't hear the starter the rest of the day. Personally I'll never own another carbed motor again .
  6. I dunno, where did you end up ? The cost of gas running around may have been more than the shipping. Did you try bps on the landing ?
  7. I'm looking at a new one this year. I really like the charger/champion 210. But.. I think I'll wait and see what they have to offer. Looks like the new plant in Flippin is just about ready to go.
  8. For me a shakey head is a finesse deal. Spinning rod, 6lb. line
  9. Up to 1/2oz. Denali Lithium 883 ,Tatula 8:1 and 10 or 12 lb. Sniper.. 5/8 and 3/4 oz. the 884.
  10. I think the 6th sense crush is about as good of a plastic squarebill as any. Great paint and hardware. If you want to try a balsa bait check the black label or WEC.
  11. Yep, Jack is a great guy. It's nice to have a great local tackle shop without fighting Branson traffic to get to bps.
  12. I'm not as picky about line for moving baits. For jigs on Table Rock I use 10 or 12lb. sniper. Yeah, It's going to be more up front but it lasts well. If it gets worn after a few months just turn it around.. Go see the guys at Ozark Extreme outdoors in Kimberling City.
  13. I'd call Eric Olliverson (Erics elite guide service), Bill Babler, Pete wenners, or as blue metioned, Eric Prey.
  14. As you probably know Table Rock isn't exactly known for a deep crankbait bite. It's more of a squarebill ,Wart, Rk Crawler deal. If your looking to try it , the end of May/early June time frame seems to be about the best. And then I would be looking up the rivers. The 5 and 6 XD, will work along with the DD22 and Deep little N, in the Normans I like the lavender shad color. Among the guys that are really good at it the Fat Free shad has always been popular.. The citrus shad color is a good starting point. If you have some that you'd like painted get in touch with Tim Hughes. When it comes to crankbait colors on Table Rock he is one of, if not the best.
  15. If your staying in Branson ,State Park Marina on Table Rock is pretty close. They rent boats, but I wouldn't get on that part of the lake in a jon boat. March is a good time to be on Table Rock but honestly by the time you rent a boat and buy fuel you can about get a 4 hour trip with a guide. I can get you some names if you decide to go that way but I would make a reservation soon. Taneycomo is a different story but you have to be aware of power generation. The trout fishing is great and there's also a decent bass population. For bass I would stay below the Branson Landing area around Roark creek or the gold mine. There is a public fishing dock at Cooper creek. You might want to check with Lilly's Landing about a boat if you fish Taney.
  16. Gary Loomis was gone from Loomis/Shimano long before micro's became popular. G Loomis has never been a "me too " type of deal. Heck, it took them 10 years to introduce a split grip.
  17. It really depends what rig you throw most often. I throw the graduate school with 5 1/8 oz. heads . We can only have 3 hooks so I just cut the hooks off the 2 lower teasers. That's a pretty heavy deal and I throw it on a x heavy swimbait rod or a Enigma flippin stick . My guess is the heavy /fast.. I don't think you will have any trouble loading either one.
  18. That 6ft 7 medium is a great stickbait rod.. I have one in the Muse blk. I wouldn't hesitate to throw a Yellow Magic or 1.5 squarebill on it.. If you ever come across the old Falcon weightless worm rod grab it. One of the best stickbait rods ever. The McClelland signature rod in the Cara series is about the same rod.
  19. The 110's I throw on a Denali Attax 7ft. Heavy..Just a great action for the plopper. It will handle the 130 size also.
  20. The Daiwa Tatula Ehrler all purpose makes a great spinnerbait rod also a good buzzbait rod. I'm not a Dobyns guy so I can't comment on the other choice. After 40 odd years of throwing a spinnerbait I've gotten to where I like a longer rod than the traditional shorter rods we used to use.. I see no disadvantage to a 7ft plus rod .
  21. I throw them on a casting rod with 10 lb. Flouro. The swivel works well. Also if you need it to sink faster just use a nail weight .
  22. My next one will be a Ultrex as well..The dealer should be able to set you up with the proper length for the boat you choose.
  23. I like the old Larew Salt Craw. The thing falls slow and holds up well. Some local guys have one called the HI def craw that really looks good. They are a hand painted soft bait and they have designed a jig head just to rig with them . I haven't had a lot of time with them yet but they look promising.
  24. The Denali Lithium 883 or 884.. 1/2 oz. and a speedcraw is about as far as I would push the 3 power. If you drag 1/2 oz. and heavier and bigger worms then the 884. I fished loomis for years ,IMX, GLX and NRX, still own a few. The lithium is equal, to or a little better the IMX in sensitivity .
