  1. I've heard that Cliff Pace did buy Ed Chambers equipment. The Black Label Wreck sure looks like a WEC.
  2. The Gamma co poly is really good.
  3. Dodge guy, You should make a pilgrimage to Lews headquarters , You may be overcome with emotion, and maybe I take it for granted since I drive past it all the time. I did fish them for awhile when they had a good tournament rewards program but they weren't anything special. Then you could drive down 44 to hwy 65 a few miles to the BPS headquarters and visit all the BPS rods you can stand.
  4. I never use anything heavier than 10 , sometimes 8. If the rod is going to be used only as a stickbait rod I would go ahead and put the 10 on it. You can save the 15. If your in this area, the stickbait bite will hang around for a while yet but it will be fading.
  5. The Lowriders have always been a shade of brown. some more reddish, the newer ones look like the originals. I have a older Cara crankbait rod that used the shakairi blank that is green. I've heard the Cara is coming back. If so , it will be interesting to see where it falls in the line up. I'd guess above the Expert.
  6. The LTB is the one I use also. I have a Curado 70 on mine and it handles great... You should come to Table Rock and Bull Shoals, we have the best stickbait fisherman on the planet. I like to try different rods but to be honest one of the best sticks on Table Rock uses a rod I personally wouldn't use to prop up a Tomato plant. It's the Indian not the arrow.
  7. The 110+1s no harder to fish than the standard 110,McStick, Pointer ect. The Falcon weightless worm rod makes a great stickbait rod. Another great one is the St.Croix Topwater rod, I personally like the tip better on the xf than the f that's labeled a jerkbait rod. IMO the 844 is a lot of rod for a stickbait, I could see the 783/843 kinda, but the old 782 IMX was a good one.
  8. On Table Rock, depending on water clarity and cloud cover, the Spro McStick in blue bandit and Norman flake. The Vision 110 and 110+ in pro blue, Tennessee shad and French pearl and good Ol' Table Rock shad in dirty water.
  9. If you can find a Curado E5 reasonable they are about as good as it gets. The prices the E series reels are bringing is surprising but they are great.
  10. The ol' Missouri short arm. Jewel has one as does Zorro but you don't see them like years ago.
  11. I live on Table Rock and really I can't see much use for poles other than bed fishing . In April there should be some fish up. If we get our traditional spring rains there should be some water in the bushes which will help the topwater bite and usually gives us a bit of a flipping deal. Personally I like the James river.
  12. I'm a fan of the long discontinued RC series and pick them up when I can. Does anyone know if there is anything in the current line up that replaced that series under a different name ? The RTO perhaps ?
  13. They are both pre rapala. The suspending ones usually don't bring as much. They are both painters , I'd think you could get 20 bucks or so for each for them.
  14. The DC can be set to where you don't need to thumb the spool at all. I would take the side to side play out of the spool and give it another 1/8 turn or so. It seems there's a point where the spool can get to tight for the DC system to charge. I have several of both the DC and the K . I don't think there's a ton of difference in distance between them but I usually cast at structure or some target rather than just heave it . The DC will never blow up during the cast but I usually thumb it out of habit when the bait hits the water. 50lb. Braid should be easy. Remember , a wheelbarrow has too many moving parts for some folks.
  15. Walking a spook isn't the art form at once was, with today's Baits and really The Spook since they move the line ties are much easier to walk, but whatever works
  16. Another thing to remember is back in the day bass boats didn't have casting decks the seats were on pedestals and sat down in the boat. Most guys used actually fish sitting down that necessitated a short rod , today a five and a half foot Rod I think would be more of a hindrance than a help walking a spook.
  17. I think Mr. Campbell fishes a spook on a pistol grip because that's what they had in the day and the shorter length. If you've ever seen him fish one he palms the reel , and pulls the rod tip to the side. He doesn't hold the grip .
  18. Having been around Table Rock about 40 years now I have some thoughts. We started out by buying a condo and in Branson and owned it for about 7 years or so, the condos you'll find are concentrated in Branson, Branson West, and Kimberling City all pretty busy part of the lake. After Labor Day we pretty much get the lake back but during the summer months that area is definitely katie-bar-the-door you can get out a few hours in the morning but the pleasure boats will run you off by 10 or so. Some homeowners associations allow rentals some don't so you'll have to check on that. I really don't think that's the best area to be in but if you want a condo you don't have much choice. We ended up selling ours and bought a RV and rent a yearly spot up the James River arm and it's considerably quieter and I like the fishing a little better, but your don't have the restaurants and shopping like you do in Branson. Another thing remember is we still have a pretty good winter. Some of the feeder Creeks freeze over and we get snow Table Rock is a beautiful place but if you're looking to escape the winter you won't do it there. Its probably not as long as you're used to but none the less it gets cold . I like the RV deal a little better but it's not as comfortable as a condo overall the cost is about the same when I retire we will build permanent home down there. if I can help in any way let me know
  19. I use Pigsticker , a Local guy here on Table Rock. The quick 5 football head is really good as is the Powell jig. Great quality and reasonably priced.
  20. I doubt ol Johnny has any interest in owning a bait company. It's much easier for BPS to squeeze their suppliers than make baits. I did hear that Spro recently told BPS to kick rocks. As I sit in my recliner I can see Gene Larews old place . He's been gone since around 1985, great man. Larew baits has just used his name for many years.
  21. I agree with the old All Star TWS. They bring 100 bucks or more on the used market but they are really good.. Not a bad squarebill rod either . You want the Houston made model.
  22. From Disney your about 16 miles to Toho. Might call Mark or Cody at big Toho marina and set something up. Unless your sold on Okeechobee.
  23. People seem to equate the old glass rods with today's crankbait rods. Those old Fenwick lunker Stiks were absolute boards if you got them in a higher power and perfectly capable of setting the hook. Rather than try to find something new I would look for an old Fenwick lunker Stik or the old gold colored glass blanks something around 665 or 664.
  24. Seems fine. I use old Citica E on mine and it's right in front of the reel nut.
  25. You wont see them on TW only direct from Witch Doctor. I have the 6ft 10 MH . It's a great spinnerbait rod but I also use it for walking baits and stick baits like the Mcstick and Vision 110. It's a graphite/glass blend blank. Great craftmanship.
