What Rod Best For Texas Rig Worm
- Good Finesse Baitcaster 1/8 - 3/16 Oz Baits
You could get away with a 50 size shimano, but I would look at upgrading the spool when possible. In really not familiar with the daiwa reels that could be capable of handling those weights.- Tungsten Worth The Expense?
One more vote for size. If it's under 3/16 I go lead as those small weights are also a small size despite being lead. Even then, I'm not positive that I have a higher number of caught fish because of smaller sized weights. I'll still throw lead weights 1/4 to 1/2oz and catch fish.- Wacky, Or Texasrig
I fish wacky rigs everywhere, including lots of grass. I've found that weightless plastics can be one of the best presentations to use around grass and algae as they will sit on top more than rigs that use a weight. Don't get me wrong, I have caught plenty of fish using jigs and t-rigs in vegetation, but when thats not working, or all I'm doing is pulling up salad each time I cast out, I will usually try something weightless to see if that 1. gets bites, and 2. doesn't cover my lure in weeds.- Wacky, Or Texasrig
Both are better. Depends on the situation and what the fish want. If you're oging ot fish a wacky rig around wood I would stronlgy recommend getting a weed guard. It helps a lot to prevent hang ups in my experience.- Dobyns 682C Question
Oh, and weightless plastics. Lots of weightless plastics.- Dobyns 682C Question
I had the champ 702c, and currently have the dx742c. I do use it for what you listed. In addition I'll throw small trigs, rage rigs, drop shots, and lipless cranks. I can't imagine that the 682c would be that much different.- How To Fish A Rage Rig
What Shane said.- What To Pair With A Shimano 50?
just got that same combo, except a 6'7 mh ***. Water just needs to soften up so I can try it out- What To Pair With A Shimano 50?
Pair it with whatever you want. All but one of my baitcasters is a 50 size. It may not be ideal for some special casses like deep diving cranks or swimbaits, but anything else it should be fine.- Another Texas Rig Hook Question
I fished with a guy that used these (or something very similar). We were fishing big worms and creature baits. I couldn't get a hook set to save my life. Neither could my friend. I think he hooked one. I switched up to Gammy EWG's and had much better hook ups.- Most Used Braid Color
Green I have some red too just cause it looks awesome on my aldebaran bfs- Yamamoto Fat Ika
I've thrown it on a number of different rods, including a Dobyns Dx 742c, 703sf, 744c, and 735c. I believe I've even seen Gary Dobyns talking about throwing the Ika on a 736c. It's one of my favorite soft plastics to throw. It has good weight and, IMO, is very versatile for a plastic that I fish weightless.- Mbs Or Cbs (Breaking Systems) ?
- Best Time To Use Craw Style Baits
Yes.- Dobyns Dx
I love my 742c. I have an aldebaran bfs on mine and can cast a weightless trick worm plenty far. My vote would be for either of the 2 power rods.- How To Fish A Roboworm?
shakey or DS is mostly how I use them- Jig Trailer
- Bait Companies?
Zoom and rage tail are mostly what I use- Yamamoto Fat Ika
4/0 ewg, weightless, backwards- Senko Setup Suggestions
Dx 742c or 703sf- Finesse Jig Rod
Personally I'd be looking at a medium heavy for jigs at 3/8oz. Once you add the trailer you're looking at the upper end of most medium power rods. I'm more comfortable with more rod for jigs at 3/8- Favorite Spinning Reel
Daiwa tierra- Need Help: Dx742 Or Dx702 Or...... Mojo
If you want a more versatile rod then go 742. I had it. Liked it. Sold it. I just didn't use it enough to justify having it. The 702 is very much a finesse rod. If you plan on a lot of 1/8 oz presentations, in mostly open water, go 702. If you want a little more versatility, go 742. if you're considering the dx, imo, the mojo shouldn't be in the picture.- Seagur Red Label Vs Vicious Fluro.
I've typically heard better reviews on the red label - Good Finesse Baitcaster 1/8 - 3/16 Oz Baits
