  1. Powell endurance on sale or a falcon bucoo are couple others to look at.
  2. I've done it twice in the same day with a kvd 1.5.
  3. I prefer fast action rods when using braid and XF if using any other line.
  4. The ch50mg is great reel but its not the work horse the D.
  5. I use 2 centrifugal brakes with lures 3/8 oz and heaver and use 1 brake when using anything less then 3/8 oz. Then fine tune the mag brake depending on the wind.
  6. Chronarch D is one of shimanos best reels. They are solid workhorses.
  7. They are really tough to bend but I usually bend them up so there is barely daylight between the hook and the bait. It doesn't take much maybe a 1/16"-1/8" This is on spro popping frogs. They are just as weedless after the bending as they are before hollow body frogs usually always land hook points up because of the weight is on the belly of the bait. It easily doubled my hook up ratio.
  8. Minn Kota's they are better in the grass and are quieter but the motorguide has a better foot pedal. They both are great trolling motors but after having both I choose minn kota especially because I fish in a lot of grass.
  9. +1 If there is no dead hydrilla around they most likely came in and "mowed" it.
  10. Yamaha! The 70hp Yamaha is a beast.
  11. Is it gone or did the water rise and now its under the surface. I've never seen heavy rain kill hydrilla before on the ponds I fish.
  12. I doubt the next world record LMB will come out of FL. They grow to fast and have to short of a life span because of the warm water.

I like to use small twitches so it spits and sputters and sort of walk the dog with it. I have better luck doing this then just plugging it along.
  14. It feels like you got punched really hard in the shoulder the day after. Its not bad at all.
  15. What ever you get make sure it is variable speed. I have a 5 speed trolling motor now and it sucks 4 is to slow most of the time and 5 is way to fast it will be the last 5 speed TM I will ever own.
  16. Its a small mouth. Small mouth are brown in color and largemouth are a green color.
  17. Do away with the leader. I have never used a leader with braid some people swear you need and others like me think its a waste. My dad always used a leader then after a month of comparing numbers I had caught more fish and bigger fish not using a leader.
  18. I use the same hooks on my 1.0's
  19. In the original post he clearly says he like the veritas because its easier to see against dark backgrounds. Then he asked about other colored rods. I didnt read any of his previous post but when I read the first post I understood it as he wants a bright rod because its easier to see.
  20. Out of the rods you mentions the ducketts with the regular guides would be my first choice. Alot of people on the other forum speak very highly of them. I only have one its my pond fishing rod so it gets used alot and beat up trekking throught the woods. Its held up pretty good so far. I have no experience with any of the others.
  21. +1 The OP is color blind he has a good reason for wanting a colored rod. Its not about the fish seeing the rod its easier for him to see the rod.
  22. Bend the hooks out a little so they are just off the body of the frog. There hasnt been a frog I've used that didnt need some sort of bending of the hooks to fine tune them.I use spro popping frogs most of the time.
  23. The only rods that I have that are more senisitive are my dobyns champs and cara t-7. They are right on par with my powell endurance rods. Most rods in that price range will be very close in sensitivity so close that one person will find rod A more sensitive and the other person will think that rod B is more sensitive.
  24. If the price is right you dont need a warranty. Diesels cost as much as what most rod companies charge for their replacement program.
