I do the same as ski213. Never had a problem. Leave engine in down position at home also. If your not going to use the boat through the winter, drain lower unit fluid, and replace. This will also let you know if you have a leak, and if you do, you have all winter to fix it. One less thing to do in the spring.

Went to silver lake yesterday, one at 15", rapala jointed in shad. The trees where pretty though! Water temp 18°c.

Thank you slonezp. Trying to learn new techniques. Went to Highland silver lake today. Nada. Chatterbait, buzzbait, jointed rapala, 10" worm, swimbait. Points, pockets, ledges, grass lines, laydowns. Temp has dropped 5° since Friday. Anyone recommend any good reads or videos on ledge/ deep water? Deep for this lake is 20' by the d**n.

How do you work the swim Jig? Do you use trailers?

Highland silver lake: anyone fished it? Getting skunked their lately. Trick worm, floating worm, traps, cranks, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, you name it. About ready to resort to c4.

I was their end of last week. They where not biting on spinnerbaits(both 1arm and 3 arm), 2.5 square bills, jigs, flukes, crankbaits (various), traps, t rigged craws. Used various colors of all of above. The shad where spawning on the riprap.

Kaskaskia River?? Thinking about it, would put in at new athens. Is there enough water in it? Debating between there and carlyle, wind will decide!

bankbeater89: Was out at carlyle last wednesday with my dad, managed to find deep water off of riprap! By the rental units around hazlet. real good dropoffs there. Caught a 16" largemouth, two channels, and a white bass there. All on a small crankbait that I found. Got snagged on it! Will have to try the points next time.
