With the rise and fall of gas prices, how will this effect your fishing time on the water this year? Add that to the cost of tournaments...WOWser. Does anyone know how to get a gas station to sponsor product?...lol

Oh I enjoy fishing at night with a good topwater bait. You only know if they hit it when it pulls away from you. So setting the hook is a fun challenge. Most of the time with that they would end up setting it themselves.

Mine would be Muskegon Lake, here in Michigan. Found a nice honey hole of smallies. River run off from a Power Plant. Lots of bait fish brings these beauties up and out of the cold.... ;D

I cant do anything till melt down...lol or go down south to fish.

I will keep practicing with the bait caster, but will skip with an open face or a spincast reel for now...lol. Thanks for the tip with the tape.

Yep with age...lol He melts when he gets wet. We learned that when they say chance of rain is 20%...with our luck it will be 100% It always rains on us if there is a small chance of it...lol

if I had room in my house I would do just that JT...lol I can always use the practice of pitching.

I use it both ways. First throw it out there and fish it like a buzz bait, then toss it back and twitch it like a popper. Both ways will trigger a strike.

sorry forgot to tell you...it was a flooded field of timber, was just an awesome view with trees coming out of the water. Had to use a flat bottom boat that leaked so bad that is why we were only out for 2 hours. We scraped over some stumps too, but must have only been 3-5 feet deep.

Quick story about a farm pond. This pond was never fished before, and in 2 hours with just topwater bait we caught over 22 bass, not one under 2 pounds. The guy I fished with could not beleive the luck we were having...told him it wasn't luck, they were just hitting something they have not seen on here. Never had a day like that again...lol...he never invited me back.

Up here in Michigan, I would say it's too cold when there is ICE!!...lol. Can't put the boat in the ice. But for me personally, too cold is under 50...lol. Will fish in the cold anyways if there is a tournament, but will not go out of my way to just fish in the cold.

If i have put on suntan lotion, I will spray and then wipe my hands with BANG, so that it will not effect the way the bass will act around the bait. Just remember this....when in doubt, spray it out...lol

I will try anything once....lol...Tried the banjo, and the bionic minnow. Out fished my partner the first year I had the bionic minnow. Didn't have the patience to use the banjo minnow, but will still throw it every now and then. I do use the walking worm, and that is a good lure too. No matter what you try it's all in the confidence and presintation of the bait you are using.

Wll my season starts in September(not fishing) trying to get sponsors for the NBAA Youth Anglers, that I helped get started 4yrs ago. I hunt during the off season, for I too am in the north, and NO i do not get into the cold weather to sit on the ice and pull a fish through a tiny hole...lol. Use to love it when I was a kid though. Hit all the Fishing shows in Michigan. Buy up everything we used up the past season, and also will try new items, if something didn't work. Get my poles and reels out and check the eyelets, change the line, buy new hooks, oil up the reels. Before an event...lol.. Tritonman and I listen to Bass Aholic...lol. We arange everything on the boat so we are not running or stepping on anything of value. The very first event is when we flip to see who is up front fist, then we take turns the rest of the season.

I like to skip and found out the hard way...DO NOT USE a bait caster...lol that reel was done for the day...lol Saw an opportunity to throw a bait under some docks and forgot I had a bait caster in my hand and oop there it is....BACKLASH...lol

Oh goodie...lol...A subject I like to talk about....had to dig deep into the pages to find this one. I love to BASS fish, but I really enjoy the catch of the smallmouth over the largemouth bass. You know you have and awesome catch when you have to net a 2lb'er only cause it fights like a 5 pounder and you don't want to lose it. Tritonman and I came is 6th place out of 120+ boats with just 4 smallies 2 were over 4lbs, last year we caught 9 and had to cull out 4, had more total weight and only got 9th place...so we do enjoy the smallies more even though it didn't help us much. We will hit the same honey hole this year too.... ;D
