  1. what boat do you have but what they said before me is the truth. Also look at the weight distribution of you and your items in the boat. Imagine a centerline on your boat and try and keep the heaviest stuff centered or at least balance. I notice a tendency for my boat to drift when i don't have the same amount of rods in the rod holders on each side. above all else though is practice and using the drifting to your advantage.
  2. i always find it funny how people can get a judgement of weight when it got away....
  3. I like the rage blade but it has a tendency to ride up the water column on retrieve. I just picked up a few of the Chatterbait freedoms from z-man and they look killer....
  4. 1-You are casting the line not the lure on the end so having a longer rod makes it easier to pull up line. There are also lots of ways to cast without having the length of the rod get in the way but like others, i have a shorter rod for mountain streams. 2-I am not a fan of slow action cane rods myself...i'll take graphite 3-depending on the species and cover, drag is not needed. Most reels you can also palm the spool as it spins to create drag. All that being said, when you get into a carp or something big, it is nice to have the reel to bring the fish in with. I rarely use the reel to bring in fish because i couldn't strip them in but it is more so I can get the line out of my way. 4-I prefer a floater for 95% of the situations i fish but those 5% dictate a sink tip or even a full sinking line. If i feel like i need a sinking line though i generally go with conventional gear as casting a sinking line all day is kind of tedious.
  5. hunting and running true are not mutually exclusive. If you tune a crank bait to run a specific direction, it will always run that direction. A crank bait that hunts has an erratic motion that stays in a straight path but is not the same consistent wobble the entire time.
  6. he is the best ever, period. Dude is amazing and has been not only competitive but winning. To me this post is a total troll because the "legend" KVD finally won a tournament in the exact situations that were pointed out in other threads about his demise and this is an attempt to tarnish the best of all time.
  7. I just picked up some of the Zoom paddle tail swim baits and they are pretty nice. I think there are a lot of good ones out there though
  8. That was done a long time ago because the GM was a moron lol He was basically doing everything he could to not spend money.
  9. not true at all. The diameter of the line is more important to getting depth than the flotation of the line.
  10. OKC is tough and I hope they win too....
  11. 6 or 8lb diamater braid for me.
  12. where your rain gear if going out saturday....gonna be a rainy one i believe.
  13. Too many....and Tankie had a fetish for drafting overseas or injured players. I am glad that clown is gone. the only moves that he made that i can give him credit for IF they actually turn out to be a piece of the contending team puzzle are trading Jrue for Noel and getting Saric. Other than that, anyone could have done what he did, assuming of course they like losing and have no respect for the integrity of the game.
  14. Well even though Tankie is no longer destroying my Sixers, they at least got the first pick in the draft. Now if they can just quadruple their win total they will be in the playoff conversation.....and i hate the celtics with what Ainge has done to build that team, not suck and still get a top pick in the draft. I just hope that the lakers, celtics and sixers all being the top three picks brings back to life the rivalries i grew up watching.
  15. taking 3 minutes to find the regs on a website is a whole lot less of a pain than driving out there and finding out you wasted your time or getting a ticket though
  16. down here in central VA most of the electric only lakes allow boats with motors as long as they are trimmed up and some want you to disconnect the gas tank. So I guess the answer is it depends. Just go on the DGIF website and look at the lakes you want to fish and see the specific rules on the lake specific pages.
  17. i actually like screw lock hooks on my buzz frogs. When i made the switch, it seems to have helped my hookup percentage. I know it seems like sacrilege but if you actually look away from the bait once you make the cast it helps in waiting to set the hook.
  18. If i am understanding you correctly, you are going to have bigger problems than running into obstacles since you will be running with your trolling motor submerged.... not to mention 10' of difference in transducer location is not going to be able give you time to react
  19. look at patterns you want to tie and get those materials. Personally i would get hooks more than anything else.
  20. anywhere from 2-7 rods, my crate with whatever can fit in it, pliers, digital scale, bump board, scissors, maybe food, always something to drink and depending on the weather, rain gear and headlamp.
  21. wheres @bigbill when you need him....
  22. Yak Attack anchor trolley is the one to go with. The leverlock feature is worth the price of admission in and of itself. I also use rivets and marine grade silicone and have no issues with leaking. Your anchor trolley shouldn't be under the water line anyways so even if you skimp on the silicone, you will probably still be ok.
  23. only true if it is a simple interest loan and the interest rate is low. My current vehicle i didn't put any money down because the interest rate was less than 2% and the money i had in investments that i would have used to make the payment is making more money than i would have saved with a down payment...pay extra each month and i should have it paid off a year early and not touch my reserve money...win win in my eyes.
  24. Last time i went to Bass Pro and saw the high end Nitros on display and monthly payments that were ridiculously low i decided to look at the fine print. It was being financed for 12 years, thanks but no thanks.
