Heavy monofilament anchor line
Seems like a lot of line to need for fishing from a kayak. I know many recommend 3+ times the water depth but i have found in my kayak that 2 is plenty in most instances. As far as using a fishing line for it, i have no idea but i wouldn't think it would be that durable long term and may be an issue when trying to retrieve a stuck anchor.

Durable flukes?
If i find myself getting down to the last few, i have rigged them upside down and sideways to get a little more life out of them. you can also bite off the chewed up part at the nose and continue fishing them.

Durable flukes?
if i am catching fish then i am not s concerned with them being chewed up. Unless i am catching pickerel, i have found flukes to last quite a few fish. I primarily use zoom but also use stankxbait and yum houdini shads. they are all about the same as far as durability goes.

Are soft jerk baits good as a Multi-Species Lure?
any bait that mimics a dying baitfish will work with multiple species. On a fluke i have caught largemouth, smallmouth, sunnies, crappies, pickerel, bowfin, catfish and small stripers.

Jeep got some new shoes....
I have always been a Jeep fan since my first 1971 wagoneer I had in college about 20 years ago. My previous Jeep i sold when my son was about two be born because, well a 2 door wrangler isn't the easiest vehicle to get a car seat in and out of, not to mention pretty drafty. I then bought a Subaru and when that motor blew a little over three years ago i had to go take look at Wranglers again. After trying my hardest to make a car seat work i decided to compromise and get a 4-door version. Well for three years I did nothing to it other than adding a rack to haul my kayak around. After the odometer passed 60k miles the tires are in need of replacement so that's what I did Here she wa the day i got her back in may 2013... And here she is today Big improvement in my mind and while it still is primarily a grocery getter and kid hauler, it doesn't look like it as much anymore at least. I know the new JKs get a lot of hate from jeep purists but it is awful nice to be able to put flat fenders on and clear 35's. My old YJ i put 4" of lift and barely cleared 33's..

Braid For Moving Baits
I have thought about the shock leader aspect too but i can't help but think that stretch in such a short piece of line isn't going to make that much difference but I do know it is all about confidence and if using a flouro leader makes you feel more confident than I am all for it....

Just Doesn't Matter
I don't think anyone thinks that at all. Some people just like to spend their money on higher end gear. If they have the money to do so and it gives them as much enjoyment as anyone else then who really cares. On a related note, i bought my son his first real fishing rod and it is a zebco 33 and it is surprisingly nice. Hopefully he can feel the tug of a fish on it for the first time this weekend when i take him out on the kayak

Braid For Moving Baits
I like braid for crank baits as i can use a smaller diameter line to get them deeper and not sacrifice strength. I do have a moderate action rod though which helps as far as give goes. Also 15lb braid is going be pretty thin and i know on my bait casters i don't go lower than 20lb because of the handling characteristics and cast ability.

What species of trout?
The golden i caught didn't have that red gill plate at all but it wasn't spawning time either. I think the top one is a greenback after some more searching.
-
What species of trout?
definitely not a golden as they are only native to another area and they look completely different. The both look like colorado river cutthroats to me but the top one could be the greenback.

It's going down tonight! Warriors v Cavs
Lebron is amazing...plain and simple. Curry is a one trick pony and can't carry a team.

Left Hand Retrieve VS Right Hand Retrieve
I crank with my left hand on casting, spinning and fly reels. Just makes sense to me but that is the nice thing, there is no hard and fast rule about what you should do.

Carp on fly?
I have caught my fair share of carp on my 4wt but it will take a long time and you will lose some. It is the only fish i have caught on the fly rod to take me into my backing and do so multiple times on the same fish. Carp are some of the most finicky fish to catch in my opinion. I have never tried the chumming method but i know it is commonplace in the carp world. I would usually just wait till i see some rooting around and feeding. When they are actively feeding they aren't as hard to catch but they do spook super easily and light tippets and smaller flies are required. My best success has been on what basically looks like a small crayfish looking fly. You gotta lead them and just let it sit there and hope it crosses their path. Now, if you happen to find the feeding on top get ready for a fun day cause that is fast and furious action. I got into a pod of feeding carp and it was one after another.

Night Bassing ~ A-Jay's Version
tonight will be my first foray into night fishing in a few years and i am looking forward to it. It is an electric only lake which is nice and usually doesn't have many people on it. I am hoping the clear skies stay and i will be able to limit the use of external lighting. I'll be sure to post up some pics of my hawgs that i hope to catch

Best Current Big Man Kayak ?
Balance has nothing to do with weight capacity though and that is more of a kayak version of "trimming" the boat though. if you are in the boat's top third of overall weight al the moving of the seat isn't going to help. I weigh about 195 and in the ATAK i get water in the scuppers when standing so i would imagine that an extra 100lbs you would have water at your feet the entire time. Just another thing to consider...

Time of day/conditions to throw a frog?
The other thing to consider is that i am pretty sure he is form Mexico and maybe English isn't his first language
-
Time of day/conditions to throw a frog?
i have one tied on all the time once water temps go up to around 65. I also throw them all day long if the cover dictates it, grass mats, lilly pads, reeds etc....they all can produce. The best time to throw one is whenever you want, you never know when you will stumble on to a hot time and not realize it till it is too late.

Best Current Big Man Kayak ?
Also look at the hybrid boats as they have a large capacity and are super stable. The native Ultimates have a nicer seat than the captain's perch on the wildy commanders which for a big guy, I am sure is a priority as well.

Well, I think I may have found a new boat. :)
come on man...gotta give us more info than that!!!

kayakers, how do you transport your boat?
roto molded is believed to be stronger but also heavier and more durable and cheaper. Thermoformed is a little different and you can tell because they look shiny, almost like fiberglass. It is lighter, not as durable (allegedly) but also a lot more expensive. Then of course there are the carbon fiber and fiberglass boats which are even lighter but less durable when it comes to taking the abuse that fishing puts on a boat. Roto molded boats basically will continue to scratch till you break through where the other materials will crack.... I have seen people with thermoformed boats praise their durability though so who knows lol
