  1. Pellets seem like cheating to me but i know the product is pretty good....and they are on the pricy side of the coin. Having never cooked on one, how long does one of those 20lb bags of pellets last?
  2. Right that is what i am saying, it is a possession issue and not necessarily that he went out and caught them all one day. By saying it is a possession limit i am saying that it isn't a daily limit issue but a possession limit.
  3. good looking fish!!
  4. They are hatchery trout so i doubt they taste any good anyways. The other thing is this is a possession limit problem really. Who is to say he didn't go out every day last year and keep his limit and then not eat them? I would bet many on here, myself included, are not aware of the possession limits for fish in most cases.
  5. I have ridden all these roads before so not a new route per se but definitely a new combination. A month from now the wind probably wouldn't have been a concern but right now, it definitely has an impact. It also doesn't help that i have not been eating much the past few days because i have been so busy and not wanting to take the time to eat. Sucking down a GU pack at mile marker 10 made a big difference.
  6. Why not get your scale certified then you will know if it is measuring light or not...also, just curious but how did you confirm it was weighing light?
  7. Seems to me that lump can have the same problems as a briquette and i'll take the consistency of a burning briquette over lump in any cook that is over an hour. here is a good article describing how they both are made. http://amazingribs.com/tips_and_technique/zen_of_charcoal.html
  8. Got out today and while i knew it was going to be windy, I didn't think it would be a headwind no matter which way i turned. I was able to get in 16.55 miles in an hour and 9 minutes averaging 14.2 MPH. definitely slower than my other rides but it was a different route as i was adjusting it as i went to try and dodge the wind and it had a few more hilly sections. I am not sure if this will work but here is a link to my workout log http://www.mapmyride.com/workout/570991081
  9. I totally see your point about the politics of it all but after being in the corporate world for a while now there are plenty of politics involved there and at the end of the day, I am making someone else money and not really making any difference in the grand scheme of things. I figure if i have to deal with BS i might as well be doing it while i can help to teach some kids. And even though I have no issues with common core standards, it is something i don't have to worry about as my state has not, and i doubt will, adopt the standards.
  10. Is burning gas any better? I don't really know so i was just curious. I know now that i have been using charcoal exclusively i can tell the difference in gas, even with a smoker box, versus charcoal. Personally for grilling i am not a huge fan of smoke woods but for BBQ i am all bout the smoke woods, usually fruit woods but mesquite is nice too.
  11. It's because no matter what people say about valuing the fish and the spawn their desire to win trumps the health of the fish. It is cut and dry in my mind. Either you intentionally fish for bedding bass or you don't. The situation is irrelevant.
  12. Well test complete...I have to retake it though. Well that would be the case if a 180 wasn't enough but since I only needed 143 to pass, I think I am good Thanks for all the well wishes guys
  13. looks like a smallie to me...congrats!!!
  14. Lactic acid build up is what you are referring too and it can kill the fish. I would venture a guess that since you are continuing to catch this fish and the fight is probably 15 seconds long she will be fine. Personally i would probably just leave her alone now that you caught her or maybe try different baits to see what she will go after but don't let her get hooked.
  15. Getting a little cabin fever since i haven't been n the bike in a week now....i am off tomorrow so after taking care of some stuff in the morning i should be able to ride for an hour or so tomorrow... Up to $215 in donations now too!!!
  16. The one i am taking is the elementary content knowledge one so it doesn't have all the theory and history of education pieces but that part i would do fine on given all the classes I am taking lol I just hope there aren't any specific dates in the history portion because while i know in what sequence things happened i am by no means a date guy.
  17. Thanks...i think this is the last set of tests for certification so once this is done it is all smooth sailing....well except the whole working and classes and family and training rides and oh yeah, fishing once in a while lol
  18. Well after passing my first two tests in the Praxis series and missing a total of two points and finishing up 15 credits towards my Master's degree it is time to take the second test....the Praxis II for elementary education content knowledge. I am feeling pretty good but i do have to admit after taking all the practice tests i could find and passing all those pretty easily I almost wonder if I am really not prepared...hopefully I get a passing score because they are changing the requirements as of July 1st where i would not only be out of the $115 i am spending to take this test but also I would have to take 5 separate tests instead of just the one that encompasses all the topics. Not a big fan of multiple choice tests in general as I do not feel that test your knowledge as well as other areas and I have tendency to overthink the answers but it is what it is...120 questions that i have 3 hours to complete and the scoring only counts right answers, not wrong ones so guessing is completely appropriate. Anyways just thought i would share....
  19. The only problem with the fish is that as soon as they get good, they dismantle the team. Stanton is a beast and the only player i would take over him in all of the big leagues is Trout.
  20. They are a notoriously slow starting team and the older guys are doing ok and i really like Asche at third but time will tell.....if they can get a decent bullpen performance here and there they will be in the hunt or i could also see a fire sale around the break too....
  21. I am a ram mount guy myself. The socket and ball system is top notch and allows almost unlimited flexibility in how the rod is positioned. I had a scotty mount on my first kayak and after about two trips i said forget this and it was never used again. The other thing to consider is if you really need a rod holder. I have two flush mounts and two ram mounts and the flush mounts get used sometimes and the same goes for the ram mounts. the one thing i do like about the ram mounts is I can have them pretty much parallel to the boat if i am fishing near overhanging trees or going through tight spots on a river.
  22. Braves aren't even that good really but may win the NL east by default...it is killing me watching the phillies and their atrocious bullpen with it's nearly 5 ERA and i think 7 or 8 losses...they get half of those as wins and they are right in the thick of things.
  23. Well i was out of town all last week and rode the stationary bike in the hotel...talk about boring. Then being out of town put me behind in school work so the past two nights i was up till 2am doing that but I should be able to sneak a ride in tomorrow. I am going to have to get my light up and going i think because riding in the daytime hours is going to be challenge with my schedule, the fiancé's schedule and watching our soon to be 4 year old. I guess i could get up really early and ride before work too but i never seem to do as well riding that early. I have also added in an additional goal....for my 38th birthday in october, since i should be in pretty good shape preparing for this ride in early september, i am going to try and ride the entire skyline drive. it is over 100 miles and hilly as crap but it would be a blast to do and be able to say i did it in one day instead of most who do it in two. thanks for checking in, I truly do appreciate it.
  24. The bigger question is will anyone know that the world has ended or if they do realize it, who will they have to tell before they go too...
  25. I thought that was common knowledge I had my 22.5" kettle going with appetizers and sides and my 22.5" smokey mountain cooker going with a pork butt, ribs and baked beans this past sunday....can't beat having dueling webers
