  1. I for one, can't wait for the games to start and I don't even have a dog in the race.....well except anyone who is playing New England of course.
  2. I too am interested i this type of information. I just hope anyone who has information isn't just what they heard but has some sort of concrete source for the data.
  3. Along the same theme.... http://nesn.com/2014/01/new-york-city-store-selling-new-england-patriots-afc-champion-shirts-day-before-game-photo/
  4. Swap out to a heavier hook or use suspend dots....i usually swap out hooks on my baits anyways so it makes it easy to get them to suspend perfect.
  5. I have caught fish on flukes in the dead of winter so go for it. They are different baits to me used in different types of situations. I like throwing hard jerk baits over places that are not as cover oriented. I chuck them on flats., ledges, over rocks, points etc...they usually suspend and can stay in the strike zone a little longer. I throw flukes in areas where having a more weedless presentation is an advantage and i am not stopping the bait for that long as they will sink and not suspend as the hard jerk baits do. Bottom line is go out, have some fun and try it because i do not think there is a more versatile bait out there than a jerk bait, of either the soft or hard variety.
  6. Retailers make out too....it is part of the cost of doing business and a 3% charge per purchase is very high unless yo hare using a company like square etc...which is basically a middleman.
  7. Your experience is by far the exception and not the norm. Bulk spools of line will last a long time if stored out of the sun and there are limited temperature changes but on a spool this is not the case. Also mono absorbs water which breaks it down over time as well. There is no way i would ever use monofilament line for more than about a month if i was fishing regularly. I also do not think people doubt monos strength but it is more the amount of stretch in mono which is what turns many to other types of line depending on the presentation.
  8. That is the first i have heard of that one....and pretty cool too might i add.
  9. I am real patient with the kids but adults....i give the basics and help out however i can but to fully get joy i beleive you need to have that "aha" moment on your own. Now when teaching to fly cast i am extremely patient as i know it can take a littel while before it clicks in your head and body and it works.
  10. I am probably in the minority here but i throw all my cranks on straight braid on my crankbait specific rod. I use 8lb diameter PP super slick. As far as the leader is concerned i can't imagine a leader making a differnece as far as depth of the crank goes but i could be wrong. I do know that when i went down to the smaller diameter braid i was getting deeper with my cranks. I tried 6lb diameter but it wasn't behaving on my reel so i switched back toe the 8lb diameter. To get a crank deep you really need to use the smallest diamter line you can to limit resistance.
  11. yes, original post edited I will also add to never close a credit card that has no fees assocaited with it. It is better to let it sit and not use it rather than close it out. Length of credit history, average age of accounts and availble credit are significant parts of what makes up your credit score.
  12. Just get a cash back card and you can use it wherever you want. I know AMEX has a good one right and i am personally using the capital one quicksilver card. I use it to pay for daycare each month and other normal expenses and the rewards add up pretty fast. I also like i can log in to one spot and then handle my credit card or rewards and have options of sednign me a chcek, doanting to charity (i think) or applying it to my bill. So far so good....
  13. Quick answer is no, braid has no stretch which results in greater sensitivity. It is also more durable and lasts multiple seasons. People like leaders because they don't want to cut into their braid and they worry about the more visible braid affecting their catch rate.
  14. Just curious but what is the top in fly fishing?
  15. I am surprised any boards are still around for that long...meaning most of the message boards i frequent seem to archive and update every 3-4 years.
  16. I think this thread should be renamed to "the thread that won't ever die"
  17. woohoo!!!
  18. this is exactly what i do and it works like a charm
  19. it would be nice on a kayak hull so i don't get that scum line that develops over the season...other than that i would want to see what the behaviors are on products. Meaning would it make the boat seat slippery etc...i could see it on more uses outside of fishing though like fenderwells, under car mud flaps etc...
  20. That would have made me go ballistic.... So what did they do with everyone's tourney fees for the day, give them back? I know if I had been involved and was on the non-winner side i would have walked right up to you and given you my entry fee and said good job.
  21. it works for carp too...
  22. Do we have an update on your decision? I may have missed it in the bowels of this thread
  23. Charge batteries at home....problem solved. Yeah you have to take them with you when you go but it isn't the end of the world and is something you can manage until you find a more suitable storage location.
  24. funny but not something i would do given the hook set scenario....
  25. I wonder how the scalper fans even get tickets in bulk anymore...they make it a PITA to even get tickets. it does kind of suck that a fan who is looking to make a road trip is basically forced to go secondary market
