  1. I am assuming it had a set screw to hold it in place? Last time I did my brakes I noticed my car has a set screw to hold the rotor in place and after one decided it didn't want to come off I said screw it, they don't really need to be replaced so I just used them again but I know next time I will have to get them off.
  2. I used them a few years ago for a pair of costas and they work but are not as good as the original for me but they are solid. I recently got a pair of plastic lens costas on clouseout at Sierra after using a pair of natives for a few years who i think were bought out by costa and I couldn't believe the difference. That green mirror copper base lens is so nice.
  3. Rocks and Texas rigs don't mix well but football heads do and so do confidence baits draggin heads.
  4. I don't fish conventional as much as the fly rod but this year when chasing largemouth I have and swim jigs have been key. If you have vegetation you can notrol the depth and feel the bait ticking the top or working through it more easily. They also work great coming through Lilly Pads in a more finesse type fashion and then you can stop and drop it in holes. Fantastic bait that is about as versatile as they come. I do agree with @A-Jay that the trailer makes a difference. Two trips ago they wanted a fat keitech 3.5" and last time out they wanted a twin tail menace grub in 4" rigged vertically.
  5. Nah they are good vehicles. I have noticed it is usually people who have heard they are problematic but haven't had one themselves. I know on my current vehicle I have spent more on repairs than I did on my wrangler and that included me being stupid and messing up the transmission and getting it replaced with a rebuilt one.
  6. of course he did because he was paying homage to the Fly Fishing Legend Bob Clouser who lives and guides there I didn't know that is what he won it on by the way but cool stuff for sure...i might go up there next week after seeing this.
  7. The one constant in river smallmouth fishing is there is no constant. So many things factor in to smallmouth feeding and movement which is why time on the river is the best teacher. Water levels, temperature, CFS, clarity etc....all factor in and what works one day may not work on another. I am no expert but I have noticed that the spots small fish congregate won't hold bigger fish. Bigger fish have the prime lies in a river system. They didn't get large on accident.
  8. This is true but it is also kind of common sense to me if there is a line of people to go as fast as possible. Now the people who decide to take their kids and swim and play on the boat ramp are always even more mind boggling to me but that isn't kayakers lol
  9. I grill year round but this year hasn't been anything spectacular. The usual burgers, sausages, hot dogs steaks, chicken vegetables etc...I haven't even used my smoker muych either but this summer blew by. I taught summer school like usual and then we had some car and house repairs that took up some time and on teh 22nd I report back for next school year. It all was kind of a blur really
  10. river aided trips don't count for mileage lol and that they do....kayakers are the absolute worst on ramps both recreational and fishing.
  11. https://www.sierra.com/rush-creek-creations-driftwood-rod-rack-3625x1475~p~94jnp/?filterString=fishing~d~14%2F I have one pf these and it does a nice job and takes up very little real estate in teh garage.
  12. Nope haven't met anyone on the forum in person nor fished with any. Not necesarrily opposed to it but my schedule doesn't dictate much planning for fishing trips so I go when I can go. Like tomorrow for example I am heading out and figured that out about 15 minutes ago Usually when I fish with people it is more like we are on the same lake and might check in with each other when we catch something but rarely are we within earshot of each other
  13. @Fallser you have some amazing skills, great looking flies as always
  14. it was 98 before the heat index the last couple days and of course I had work to do outside and couldn't keep enough fluids in me but it is what it is. A "cold" front moved through today so the high is in the low 80s. If you asked me yesterday i would be all for the fall but as of today, nah I am cool with the fall starting like normal.
  15. Lightweight trailer with a max payload of like 500lbs or so. Perfect set up for this but I have been thinking of going truck next and getting rid of the trailer. It is pretty convenient though.
  16. 2012 mini cooper countryman ALL4s. Bought it with about 60k miles on it and now it is at 132 and mechanically it has been fine even though I did have to replace the turbo in it recently which was not a fun experience. It gets me where I need to go and is able to tow my kayak trailer with ease
  17. One thing I have learned from watching Pawn Stars and Antiques Roadshow is to never clean up anything old and potentially of value as that vaklue drops a lot. Other than that, you need to find someone who is familiar with the sword in the Masons and go from there
  18. I am pretty sure every state that has fresh and saltwater has two different licenses, at least the 8 or so I have visited that have both do.
  19. I only buy to replace stuff, this month it was jigs last month it was nothing, month before that, nothing, month before that some tying stuff.
  20. Works fine. The majority of fishing specific kayaks have a high enough seat that you can pop them almost perpimdicular to the water or you can stand up and do it just like you would on the deck of a boat. On a side note, I have found slow pulls work better around me than more aggressive jerks do anyways.
  21. Yeah it is kind of a unicorn today where you have top products and top service and he has definitely done just that.
  22. I agree here and never go heavier than 40lb but that is only because it works better on my bait casters. Spinning reels I usually go with 20lb or sometimes 30lb. One thing braid doesn't have is abrasion resistance and that thin braid jsut feels like it would snap easily.
  23. I am sure you will figure it out but the few times I have went "punching" i wasn't sore. Only time I am sore from fihsing nowadays is after a long day of fishing mountain streams.
  24. I did get the fogy sampler pack as well. I throw bladed jigs once in a while but last two trips out the swim jig bite has been on and I am thinking a bladed jig will be too. Hopefully I can give it a try here in the next couple days.
  25. The past 3+ years or so I have probably been fly-fishing 99% of my trips. This year I have done a little more conventional fishing due to weather conditions and my limited time getting out. Anyways, I went out this past week and realized my jig box was low so I went to where I always do, Siebert Outdoors. I placed my order of around 20 or so jigs to fill up my box and they arrived today and I honestly forgot just how high quality his jigs are. Anyone looking to add some jigs give them a shot and I don't think you will be disappointed.
