Not sure how this is any different than spinning. I feather the line and close the bail manually on my spinning with my non casting hand so to set the hook with spinning as it hits the water is probably more secure in my case, on the spinning set up. As far as the OP question. It depends on the techniques you want to use. I have a few MH/F rods but some are more towards the M side than the MH side. I use those for my chatter baits and spinnerbaits (not a technique i use often) and for hard jerk baits mainly. I have thought about using it for weightless soft plastics but i don't like my hand position when working those baits, probably because I am so used to using my spinning gear for that purpose. I do use my lighter MH/F rods for heavier shaky heads and smaller square bills though and it works well.

All good advice on here. I prefer my spinning rod for small shaky heads, weightless soft plastics and hard jerk baits and it does a nice job. The key, even more so than a BC set up, is balance. As the weight of the reel being under the rod does change the characteristics of the rod. Also, as far as accuracy goes, people always say they aren't accurate but I can promise you they weren't accurate with their BC the first time either. You can feather the line with your off hand to change the trajectory and minimize splash as well but it will take practice. Line management can be an issue but I run braid on almost all of my spinning setups and the line twist issue goes away then. Wind knots occasionally but no twist to worry about. My current spinning setups are stradics, FJ and Ci4+ paired with shimano curado spinning rods. Good value and not break the bank expensive. I also like the fury rods mentioned earlier. Lots of good options out there and you can't really go wrong in 100-150 price range. Have fun....

Clowney is a classless piece of trash who loves cheap shots. He should have been penalized at the very least for his cheap shot that put wentz out. Classic Pete Carrol stuff though as he is a dirty coach and allows this stuff to happen. That being said, they are gonna get creamed by Green Bay. The Eagles with a 40 year old back up QB and practice squad players all over the field still had a chance to win and I have no doubt that if Wentz didn't get knocked out by a cheap shot, they blow them out. I do like Wilson and he is a baller for sure. Now I am pulling for KC...I'd like to see the walrus get over the hump.

I don't have experience with the Daiwa but all my spinning reels are Stradic either the Ci4+ or the standard version. While I don't have the current models, the ones i have that are a few years old give me no reason to replace them any time soon. They perform well with minimal maintenance and have yet to give me any issues with heavy use.

at 8 years old you are gonna be tight in any kayak really, even those designed for two people. I would recommend getting two kayaks, one for you and one for him. He will learn how to paddle on his own and have fun doing it and it will allow you to fish more. If you don't want to get two, then i would also agree that a canoe may be the better option for fishing except maybe the jackson big tuna.

yeah they have changed up everything to air midweight and thermal weight now. Silkweight was the best stuff out there for next to skin.

I have done particularly well fishing through stickups and any type of wood cover. I usually walk it a few times and let it sit for a while then repeat.

I always have a frog tied on and have caught some big bass in open water with them too. The jig thing I just got into this year really and it has been very good to me. Definitely looking to refine that part of my fishing this next season.

Nah, i haven't done the tournament thing in a while. Also not a huge fan of KBF in general for lots of reasons. I do like the idea of local tournaments though and have thought about doing some when they roll through here.

heavyweight stuff is not what you want in super cold weather. You want layers that trap air between the shell (wind blocking) and the moisture wicking layer against your skin. It also provides the most flexibility should conditions change suddenly.

he speaks truth....I have capilene that is at least 15 years old and it still performs as well as day one. I wore the midnight just yesterday actually.. I prefer the silk weight as my next to skin layer over the lightweight myself. it is all about layering and trapping air.

Find a place you can paddle them both or some other options and go from there. What you can stand in and what others can stand in are vastly different. I am 5'11 195 and could stand in my tarpon and fish but i know others couldn't. Also standing isn't as much of a big deal as it used ot be before the advent of raised seats.

Foles did nothing special at all in both the Atlanta and Minnesota Games really. The defense bailed him out against Atlanta and in Minnesota they only allowed 7 points. He did play well in the super bowl obviously. Did you happen to not notice what he did all year long? He was the most dominant QB in the game that season until he was injured. Foles had zero playoff success prior to that run so to say that he couldn't have done it is comical really. As far as the Cowboys are concerned, they didn't self destruct at all. They couldn't beat a team with a winning record, plain and simple. They beat up on cupcakes, much like the patriots did, early in the season. When they faced teams that could play, they got smoked and it exposed them as frauds. I think the Cowboys only had one win against a team with a winning record all season. Baltimore is a tough team all around. NFC is wide open.

And the Eagles overcome injuries galore and still manage to win the division with guys who were on the practice squad last week. They will beat whoever they play next week. I also hope this season has put to rest any talk about Wentz not being a winner and the Eagles should have kept Foles nonsense. Wentz did more with less than any QB in Eagles history for sure and set a few NFL and team records in the process. It is also nice to see the Cowboys self destruct yet again, as is the norm and lose when they have all the talent on paper in the world but can't win. All great advice. I hurt my back when i was 19 or 20 dunking a basketball. I didn't know how severe until i finally got it checked out a few years later. Turns out i had micro fractures in the fused vertebrae that caused all kinds of other problems. Pain management for me was key and still lis as I have yet to get surgery. One thing that has helped me out a lot is keeping my hamstrings loose as it relieves some added pressure on my lower back. I am scared to get surgery, too many horror stories out there, but i do get it checked out every few years just to make sure I am not doing more damage.
