  1. It is just part of the game. I lighter weight would be my suggestion though you may sacrifice casting distance.
  2. I probably would not. As mentioned above you never know if you are a dealing with a crazed person with a weapon. It is one thing if it was your own property they were littering on.
  3. Upon quick glance at the 1st pic with the darker green and the red decorative piece I was thinking part of a Christmas tree, but then I realized I am a few weeks out of season.
  4. Thanks for the follow up. My arsenal is going to get a bit overhauled in 2017 in favor of a few more SV reels.
  5. Places like the TackleTrap would have it in stock.
  6. Daiwa uses purple to indicate XHS or extra high speed gearing. I agree, us OCD folks can't take the fact that it should all be purple but the handle retainers can be purchased easily for under $10.
  7. I see, thanks Ripp'n. For $40-50 more I may just get the Zillion SV TW. I was hoping this Tat SV would be around or just over $200.
  8. Where are you guys finding the price point of this reel being around $250ish?
  9. Put me down for the 7:3.1 flavor. Hello new frogging reel.
  10. The JDM MGL is one of the better reels I have ever used. Considering getting another but also interested in trying some new Daiwa SV reels.
  11. Well you have the Chronarch 50e and the 200e. Then you have the Curado 200i and 70i? What reels are you comparing. IMO the Curado 70i is a very nice reel and much better than the 200i and the breaking profile is also improvement. Are you wanting something for more of a jig and plastic reel, something for lighter baits, or something with more line capacity and for tossing baits over a 1/2 oz?
  12. Not 100% sure what reels we are talking about. Are you talking about the US Casitas or the JDM Casitas MGL? Also are you talking about the older or standard Tatula or the Tatula CT?
  13. Jigs and plastics would be mine and that was how I cut my teeth bass fishing.
  14. I like the original Megastrike and Smelly Jelly in the baitfish scent.
  15. If it is best with money being of absolutely no concern it is Daiwa and Shimano. I have since sold off or given away every BPS, Lews, Okuma, and Quantum casting reel that I had. They have so many upgrades, turning parts, plus the resell value is much, much better. Just my opinion and I know guys that like their BPS, Lews, and Abu's but for low profile casting I was never that impressed with these.
  16. First ever? If so, you sir have more will power than me. I think I have about every color of their shirts from spending too much with them. I am usually good for 2-3 orders from them a year sometimes more. We are probably on a first name basis
  17. A gear set from a 51 series reel will be fine however you can't use a 200 sized reel. You may able to source the 7:7.1 gears from the JDM Brenious in Japan. I have used both of the above gear speed upgrades with no problem.
  18. I agree with the above comments. The Rodent is also a much softer plastic. Meaning it will tend to tear a bit easier. The action is also far more subtle or what some would call more of a dead action meaning it is great to add more of a bulk profile to a jig but there isn't a lot of movement from the appendages. These are great for lethargic fish or cold water periods. The Rage bug is made of a more firm plastic and tends to last longer. The appendages kick like your typical rage baits. I do like this one more when fish are active. Both make equally good texas rigged baits or jig trailers but the difference lie in the action of the baits and soft/firm plastic the baits are made of.
  19. I would have substituted USC for Washington and Penn State for Ohio State.
  20. That is nice quality hair jig! I hope they catch you some good fish.
  21. I like the titanium terminators, hidden weight northstars, and war ealgles.
  22. Congrats? Is that the right word here? Lol! That sure is an ugly fish to about everyone but mother drum. At any rate that one is massive and a PB is a PB so congrats my friend!
  23. I am the same way. I just keep an extra spool of all purpose mono line with me and make them up as needed. It is just a heavier sinker, a swivel, and a bead for the most part. They are a pain to tie due to time (similar to a drop shot) but I use them so rarely that I don't bother to tie them up in advance.
  24. Assuming we are talking about a casting rod and reel? What do you have in mind for a budget for either or both? For what you have described a reel like the Shimano Curado 70 or a Daiwa reel like the Tatula CT would be a good choices. For rods their are a lot of great rods out there but I have been moving more to custom built rods. A lot of folks like St Croix due to the warranty.
  25. Thanks for the info. I may end up buying all 3 and keeping the one I like best.
