How to prevent rust from spreading on trailer
Hello, I have some rust issues on my trailer. It is a painted trailer. I know I should cut it out and have some iron welded. But I can't. Is there a product that will "encapsulate" the rust to prevent it from spreading? thanks Larry

3 Bank On-board Charger Recommendation
Both of my BPS chargers were junk. I am thrilled others had better luck but please do not suggest I imagined that both of my chargers failed in less then a year. The replacement Pro Mariner DID NOT GO DOWN THE SAME LINE. It is slightly different with slightly more power. Even the people at BPS admit they have a very high return rate. I understand that my Pro Mariner model is basically the same but so far I haven't had any problems. If you search the board here, you'll find many, many people have had poor sucess with the BPS and it is not imagined. Good Luck

3 Bank On-board Charger Recommendation
I had 2 of the XPS 3 bank chargers; both lasted less then a year. They upgraded me to the Pro Mariner model which is very similar (they make the XPS unit) and have not had a problem yet. Dual Pro is the way to go if you have some $. LB

TIPS ON FISHING SLOW IN THE WIND
My biggest problem is if I cast toward the shore, and if the wind is blowing the boat fairly quickly, I tend to drag and real the bait in too quickly. Larry

TIPS ON FISHING SLOW IN THE WIND
Hello, I need help. When it is windy, I have a hard time fishing plastics. I find it much easier throwing a spinnerbait or crankbait. But at times, I feel like I should be fishing plastics. Any tips on fishing plastics when its windy? I'm not worried about casting them, just fishing them properly. thanks Larry

adding scent to black spinnerbait/jig
Hello, As my previous post indicated, I will be fishing muddy/cold water this weekend. I am going to throw black/blue spinnerbaits and jigs. Which scent should I use for the spinnerbait- crawfish or shad? I assume I should use the crawfish for the jig. thanks Larry

SUGGESTIONS FOR BUSCH WILDLIFE
Thanks for the reply. I welcome any and all tips you may have. What lake would you suggest? I thought about just throwing a jig. I need to practice and if that is all I bring, it forces me to practice. Any specific spots on the lake? thanks again Larry

STRATEGY QUESTIONS FOR NEXT WEEK
Hello, I hope this is the correct forum for this question. I am going to Lake of the Ozarks next weekend. The forecast calls for showers at the beginning of the week and clearing up toward the end of the week when I will be there. I am guessing the rain will have the water fairly stained. I have heard they have been up shallow but hard to catch. The water has been in the low 40's and should warm up a few degrees as the temp is suppose to be in the 50's. SO, Do you think they will stay shallow? How will the rain effect things? Thanks for your thoughts. Larry

Bass Guide on Lake of the Ozarks
Can anyone reccomend a good guide at Lake O? I have used a few "tournament" fishermen in the past and they were horrible guides. They were worried about others on the lake seeing their honey holes. Didn't want to over fish their good spots. It was ridiculous. Thanks Larry

tips on using a jig on fairly open water
Hello, I am planning a trip in 3 weeks to Lake of the Ozarks. I assume the bass will be pre spawn. I do not have much experience using a jig but would like to try. I don't plan on doing any pitching into heavy cover. Do I fish the jig like I would a worm? Any tips are appreciated. Thanks Larry

GUIDE POSTS FOR BOAT TRAILER
Hello, I just ordered some of the PVC guide posts so I can see the trailer while backing up. My question for those who have used these, my trailer has the side bunks (which go the length of the trailer) will the brackets for the posts extend far enough away from the trailer so the posts go on the outside of the bunks? Hope this makes sense and thanks for your help Larry

Motor Guide Wireless
I have had the MG Wireless with built in transducer for about 7 months. Mixed results. The reason we bought one is we have a small front deck on our boat, so it works out very well since it has a small foot pedal and it is moveable. However, on the models with built in transducers, they have had issues with the nose cones cracking. They just recently fixed the issue as they re designed the nose cone with a different material. Time will tell. Also, the steering isn't exact. Since it is electric, sometimes its hard to go straight. Not too bad but takes some getting use to. The extra key fab does come in very handy when the person at the bow has to re tie; a 2nd person in teh rear of the boat can continue to fish using the key fab. If you don't have space issues on your front deck, I would go with a conventional model. good luck lb

KILL SWITCH
I have a 97 Evinrude 50 HP. It runs without the kill switch attached. I am sure this isn't normal. Any thoughts? thanks Larry

USING POWER TRIM ON OUTBOARD TO HOIST WIFE
Well, we made it back from the lake. My wife stepped onto the lower unit of the motor and ripped the transom completely off the boat. Just kidding. She actually chickened out all together so it was a non issue. My daughter had no problem climbing in the boat. You guys must have quite an image of my wife in your minds. I guess when one uses "hoist" and "wife" in the same sentence, it does create a certain image. thanks Larry

USING POWER TRIM ON OUTBOARD TO HOIST WIFE
Hello, Taking my family boating over the weekend. I have a 50HP Evinrude with a power trim. Can I use the power trim to "help" my wife get out of the water into the boat? She weights approx 170lbs. I was hoping she could put her feet on the lower unit; and I could raise the trim to help her get out of the water. thanks Larry

pros and cons of offset bow seat
Hello, I have a 17' alum bass boat which has a fairly small front deck. The front deck is alum and is solid. I am considering using an offset seat post to put my seat back a few inches. My current seat is just a straight post and a chair. Please note that due to extreme laziness, I spend practically all day fishing while sitting in the chair. No leaning seat for me. Are there any cons I should consider or is this a slam dunk and a good idea? thanks Larry
