  1. Nice video/fish! I liked the camera angle. My eyes were glued to the computer screen waiting/watching for the strike.
  2. Sounds like a fun trip! My wife loves to fish with me but I'm not letting her anywhere near a baitcaster. That's a disaster waiting to happen.
  3. Happy birthday man and congrats on an some really nice fish! All I got on my birthday was a couple of 8-10 inch largemouth
  4. The lake/spillway is actually located at a fish hatchery and I found a website that lists the fish species. It only lists 3 sunfish. Bluegill, pumpkinseed, and green sunfish so I'm assuming it would be one of these. Being that its a fish hatchery, I would think they know what's in their waters.
  5. Cool...thanks man! Since I've only been at this for about a year it would feel really rewarding to catch a citation-worthy fish. Make me feel like I'm doing something right.
  6. Congrats...now lets see some pics!
  7. Nice man! I actually just went out when I got off work a couple hours ago. Me and a guy I work with had been wanting to try a pond out on this abandoned golf course. Weather was beautiful, we had a nice full moon, and this pond definitely looked like it should hold some big bass but we didn't get anything. I'm thinking there's nothing in there. Pond wasn't that big and we covered it really good. Gonna go out to one of my usual spots in a couple hours and hopefully pick up on the early morning topwater bite. Congrats on a good night fishing trip!
  8. Welcome to BR!
  9. Gotta watch them beavers. We had a thread on here a couple months back about a fisherman who was killed by one. Sure, if you keep your distance, they usually keep theirs but the have crazy sharp teeth and can really mess you up if they have a mind to.
  10. I'm having a hard time telling different sunfish species apart. A lot of them seem really similar. Can I get an ID on this one? I know its not the best pic.
  11. Hey guys...I got a question about the Maryland Angler Awards Program. The DNR website says that digital photos are acceptable if the fish is released. How does that work? Would I just take my camera into an Angler Award center or should I upload the pic to my computer and print it out or what? I don't have an entry or anything since I usually don't measure my fish but I know I caught a chain pickerel and maybe a largemouth this year that would have been pretty close to being eligible. Any of you guys ever get one of these? How does it work?

All I've seen is lights a couple times. The most unusual time was about a couple months ago. I was delivering a pizza and driving down a back road when something caught my eye. There was a bright orangey yellowish light in the sky. It was moving fast. Faster than any plane or helicopter I'd ever seen. At first I thought maybe a comet or meteor cuz it was sort of leaving a bit of a streak behind it but as I watched it it started to change directions rapidly zig-zagging around the sky. I pulled off the road to watch it for a bit but after 5 or 10 minutes I had to move on cuz I was working and had a pizza in my car getting cold. When I came back through the same area it was gone. Was it a UFO? I think it's a good possibility. To my knowledge, meteors/comets don't move like that and I would be very very surprised if it were just a plane or something like that.
  13. They stock the creek by my house every fall. I've done well with 1/8 oz. Roostertails and small crankbaits like the SK Bitsy Minnow. Never fished Powerbait but pretty much everyone else around here does. Ideal gear would be a light action rod and 2-4 pound line. But if you don't want to buy new gear just for one camping trip, there's no reason you cant use a medium rod and spool up some 4 pound line on one of your reels even if its rated for heavier line.
  14. I actually use both and switch it up between the 2. Personally I think that both of them sound funny. Seems like rather than a right way/wrong way its more of a personal preference/regional dialect.
  15. Thanks guys. I'm glad I was able to fish that lake. The last time I was there I ran into a guy that said in a few weeks the majority of the surface would probably be covered in moss to the point that it would be unfishable. I figured I'd end up leaving pretty much right after I got there but it was actually way clearer than the previous time. I'm thinking the guy may have just been a lake-Nazi and was trying to keep me away.
  16. Welcome to Bass Resource!
  17. I'm like 90-95% certain I caught the same fish twice this past april. About a week apart, same lure, same spot on a relatively small pond.
  18. Nice one! I need to fish buzzbaits more. Still looking for my first buzzbait fish.
  19. Right on...I've seen lights like that twice. The one time I was delivering a pizza and actually pulled off onto the side of the road for a couple minutes to watch them. Crazy stuff. The stationary lights I've seen 2 or 3 times but like I said, there's never anything to explain them away when I go back in the daylight. Not trying to hijack the thread though. Don't want this to turn into a UFO debate.
  20. Same here. They don't look like airplane of helicopter lights. Sometimes I try and dismiss them as maybe on some kind of tower/antenna but when I drive by in the daylight there's nothing there that could explain it.
  21. If your talking UFO's, I'm with ya. Never seen anything while fishing but I've seen some strange stuff in the sky a couple times.
