  4. If your new to using baitcasters, watch a couple of videos on how to set them up properly and how to cast them. I recently bought my first one and it took some getting used to coming from only using a spinning reel. There are videos on this site on this subject as well as several other lures/techniques.
  5. Some nice fish there!

  12. From what I understand, any keel weighted hook should be more than sufficient. I've had success using the Rage Rig with the Shellcrackers but you didn't list those. For the Eel-liminator, you'd be better off C-rigging it or going weightless on a 4/0 EWG hook. Those are the only 2 Rage Tail baits I've fished. I dunno if you've seen this or not but it's from the Rage Tail site. It has rigging info for pretty much all of their plastics. https://www.ragetail.com/the-rage-rig/
  13. Made me angry cuz the bluegill shouldn't have been in the puddle in the first place. The only way I see that it could have got there is that someone put it there. Thanks for the kudos guys. I always try and help out local wildlife in distress when I can.
  14. Never personally caught one on a jig but I've caught them on just about everything else so I don't see why not. Like others have said, they'll bite pretty much anything. Seems like I'm catching 2 pickerel for every bass I catch lately.

  17. Wow Speedbead...that thing is crazy fat!
  18. Went out from about 9 this morning til about 2. Didn't catch anything but whatever. That's not so unusual. But when I walked back to my car I saw this little guy flopping around in a 5 inch deep mud puddle. Now he wasn't there when I left the lake at dark the night before and I didn't notice him there when I first arrived. The only other people there were 2 guys from DNR inspecting the dam. I can't imagine the DNR guys would do something like this but I mean, like I said, there wasn't anyone else there. I thought maybe an osprey got him and dropped him or something but I didn't see any wounds from a beak or talons and what are the odds that with all the dry ground, this fish is gonna land in the 3 foot diameter puddle? Also it was a good 10 or 12 feet above the creek level so its not like it was flooded out or anything. I dunno. It just kind or irked me. Anyway, I put him back in the creek. He swam kind of weird at first. Swimming on this side and jumping out of the water a lot. I guess maybe his equilibrium was messed up from laying in the puddle for however long he was there. But after a bit he was swimming right and snuggled his face into a rock at the shoreline to recuperate. I also saved a little baby turtle who was baking (not basking. literally baking) in the noon day sun and probably wouldn't have lasted much longer if I hadn't scooped him up.
  19. I am by no means an expert and I'm sure others will chime in but I'll offer my 2 cents. The general rule of thumb is bigger hooks for bigger baits. 1/0 should be sufficient for your 3 inch senkos. For your 6 inch salamanders, I'd say you could go up to 3/0 or 4/0 offset. For the Super Flukes, I'd go 4/0 EWG. For the senkos and salamanders, I'd use the regular offset hooks. The baits are more slender and you don't need the Extra Wide Gap for the bait to collapse into. Go EWG for the flukes cuz they're thicker. And if it's a choice between Eagle Claw or Gamakatsu, definitely go with the Gammies. I don't really have any experience with trick worms or whacky rigs so I can't speak to that.
  20. I sometimes have that problem cuz my wireless internet is garbage. If I hardwire my laptop directly to the modem, it works fine. You could try that if you want but since you say you don't have problems on other sites, this is probably not your problem. The majority of the videos on this site are on YouTube. Just go there and search 'bassresource' and you should be able to find his channel. That guys got some really helpful videos.
