  1. Hello and welcome back!
  2. Welcome! I'm in Maryland too. I live on the Eastern Shore now but I used to live in Middle River. Just out of curiosity, what bodies of water have you been fishing?
  3. Hello and welcome! As for articles, search through the ones on this site. They have one for just about everything. Feel free to post any questions you have in the appropriate forum. Everyone here is really good about helping out and sharing their bass fishing knowledge/wisdom.
  4. X's 2. If your brother is getting bites on moving baits, I'd put down the worm and tie on a crank or spinnerbait.
  5. Nice fish...I might give this a try.
  6. That's awesome man! You can tell he's thrilled to death about his fish. Congrats to you and your son!
  7. Welcome to BR!
  8. I know I'm bit late on this topic but that was a good read. Very cool!
  9. Multispecies days are always fun. Nice fish!
  10. I know what you mean about being out all day for only a couple of bites. Seems to be the story of my life. But hey, catching something is always better than catching nothing. Nice fish!
  11. Welcome to BR!
  12. For the most part, I take pics of everything I catch whether its big or small. I usually fish by myself so whenever I take a pic, I'm holding the fish in one hand and working the camera with the other. Sometimes it can be difficult because I can only stretch my fish arm out so far. I have pics of 12 inch fish that take up the entire frame. With pics like that it can be difficult to determine size so I usually try and get the pic with the lure still in the fishes mouth to give it some perspective. Everyone knows how big a KVD 1.5 is and if there's one hanging out of the fishes mouth, it makes it easy to figure the size of the fish. It doesn't particularly bother me when someone holds the fish out to the camera. They're usually only trying to take a good picture. Just don't lie about the size/weight.
  13. Nice looking fish....congrats on a good trip!
  14. Thanks for the input everyone. I think Ill just stick with the undressed for now and maybe pick up a feathered one sometime in the future.
  15. Hello and welcome!
  16. Here's the situation. I got my spinnerbait hung up the other day but I managed to pull it free. When I got it back in, there was a Mepps Aglia Long inline spinner hanging off the end of it. Nice big one perfectly sized for bass. The hook was rusted out but I replaced it no problem. However the original hook was feathered/dressed/whatever you wanna call it. My question is, do you think its worth going through the trouble to re-feather it myself or would I catch just as many fish with a naked hook? I don't have any experience tying dressings onto hooks but I did find a you tube video that seemed pretty helpful. Any tips or suggestions?
  17. Had myself a pickerel day today. My wife and I went out for bass and instead got 1 crappie and a handful of pickerel. I don't mind catching them but I'd at least like a bass or 2 thrown in there with em. The wife had the best one.
  18. I have 0 experience with vintage lures but I did recently find a modern Rapala Countdown Minnow on the bank last year and it said Ireland on the lip. I've actually wondered about that myself cuz all the other ones I've seen have said Finland. Just checked their website and it said they have factories in Finland, France, Ireland, Estonia, and China. Don't know if only certain lures are made at certain factories or what the deal is there but apparently they're still made in Ireland.
  19. This is my first spring bass fishing and I've been crushing them on spinnerbaits. Small ones have been catching more fish but larger ones have been catching bigger ones. I've been using sexy shad, white, red and chartreuse.
  20. I got married last month and the wife and I are hoping to take at least a 3 night trip to this little resort in the Poconos some time soon for honeymoon. Nice little cabin right on the lake (I think its called Lake Fairview) and each cabin has its own little aluminum boat you can use for fishing. They had some pictures on their website of fish caught by some of the guests and they looked really promising.
  21. I've been seeing a bit of surface activity as well. Not sure of the water temp though. Got a couple strikes on topwater this year but haven't been able to hook up.
