  1. I think the line you use is not that big of a deal. I would say that when you learn to use a baitcaster (I'm doing it right now) is make sure you have your magnetic brakes and what not set up properly....
  2. Im learning on 65# braid... I honestly haven't had any issues with my line or reel yet, no backlashes or anything!!!!
  3. I have caughten several double digit fish.... In my case the decimal point is in a different spot....
  4. So far I have went out twice just fishing from shore practicing fishing with a baitcaster... I like it... I will use it for topwater, jigs, and texas rigging...
  5. New to texas rigging but I like the concept... I want to add this tactic to my fishing arsenal, any fav baits you guys have... My thoughts were the culprit incredit craw, rage craw, rage thumper, rage anaconda.... Also the setup I plan on using is a 7' medium with a 6:3:1 reel 65lbs braid... How does that sound?
  6. Before reading your post Nev I was going to say that my neighbor said he has caughten walleye in the merrimack... He said in a river ecosystem if you find walleye pike will most likely be close....
  7. Bucktails are certainly a produtive bait... In my opinion if your fishing a river for stripers than sometype of swimming plug is best... There is no need to spend $20 on a Rapala even though they produce just the same as the $10 (I think) daiwa saltpro minnow... And When fishing rivers (The Cape Cod Canal in my case) I use a 7' 6" rod and throw any type of topwater plug, swimming plug, bucktail...... For a heavy Jig head like a 2oz or 3oz with a 10"-14" eel like trialer I use a Rod ranging from 8' to 10'.... Hope it helps...
  8. May 9th, Lake Winnipesaukee... First high school fishing tournament in NH!
  9. Weightless soft plastics... Slugos are my favorite, excellent action.
  10. Just a thought... Usually the ice melts on the perimeter of the pond/lake first so I would assume that it would be warmer in the shallower areas... Yet when it gets colder in the fall bass will go deep so im not to sure...
  11. Just invested in some Rage Tail baits... Anacondas and thumpers, next are the craws and lobsters...

  25. When I look at bobber stoppers and things to peg the weight online I can't see how they work... If I purchase them are they easy to figure out, from the pictures on BPS and what not I have no idea how to use them or what they are supposed to look like...
