  1. That's exactly where I went... Great people indeed, like I said can't wait to get back down there.... Love smallie fishing in the housatonic... ~By the way those trout were caught in the shepaug... Do you know where that is? My gramp lives right on the river.
  2. Didn't get to try flyfishing this weekend. My friend did but didn't get any, we found a very nice hole in a stream that is like 15 yards across maximum. Only 2 minute walk from my gramps house, excited to get back down there in the spring... ~We did stop in a fly shop down their and he showed us a picture of a 22" brownie he caught in the same stream... ~I'm definatley going to start targeting trout more often, besides stripers and freshwater bass....
  3. Nice job Tuckahoe, and nice job SirSnook.... Today I was targeting brown trout in small streams and we came out with some decent ones...
  4. Deciduous Leopard....lol
  5. My friend and I fished a small stream with some small Rapalas and came out with some decent brownies...
  6. Only if there was a girl my age who liked fishing.... LOL
  7. I couldn't agree more this summer I took one of my best friends who has never fished before... He didn't end up catching a thing, next time we go he will be the only one with a rod...
  8. Me and a friend are going to ct for some trout, maybe we will be lucky and get a smallie because they are very abundant in the river we will be fishing...
  9. Im already asking for A LOT for christmas so I will have to talk to my dad...My mom will easily turn it down LOL... ~I'll get back to you...
  10. Im going for trout this weekend aswell... First time trying fly fishing with my friend...
  11. If I didn't want reels that weren't what I posted than I wouldn't have started the topic in the first place... Great info, my dad has a shimano baitrunner that he uses for stripers and it casts incredibly smooth. I also want an Okuma reel I want to try, I think its the Okuma Avenger B its only like $40. A decent inshore striper reel I use at the cape cod canal is a quantum blue runner which has an okay drag but definatley gets the job done for $40... ~If anyone could answer this question it would be great.... When it comes to reels are there specific traits you look for in a real for lets say cranking, or weightless worm fising, jigging?
  12. Sweeeeeet fish!!!
  13. Hey guys just wanted some input on some decent spinning reels you guys like. Im already looking at getting the pfleuger president and the quantum antix.... Any of you use these or tried them before? And what other ones would you suggest? ~Thanks
  14. Those look great, I especially like the last two...
  15. We did throw some smaller bucktails and what not but only caught a small schoolie... ~Surprised we were not gettig hits with them!
  16. I like to texas rig them, use any ball jighead, and sometimes during spawn just throw them weightless....
  17. Just clarifying, I wasn't the one who caught the 26 pounder....
  18. Today was the first day this month fishing the canal. There are bigger fish in there now the largest today was a 26pounder, my largest of the day would have been 32"+ but it got off about 10 yards away from me. My dad and I did manage to land 18 ranging from 18"-27"... Not sure how long these bigger stripers will be in the canal for so if your close by definatley give it a go... It will be worth your while, bigger fish have been nailing eel like soft plastics on 3-4oz jig heads... Personally I have had some fun with some topwater fish, and my most productive lure I have been throwing this fall is a suspending Daiwa Salt Pro Minnow in any flashy silver color, this is a good alternative to a rapala x-raps or crystal minnows(they will hit any of these). They are a few bucks cheaper and they get the job done equally as well if not better. I think the rattle in the bait really gets the fish going compared to the x-rap. The bigger fish i missed today came on one of the Salt Pro's... ~Get out there and give it a go! Good Luck!
  19. Bigger fish are in the canal... Hooked up with a 32"+ striper and landed a 27" along with a bunch of schoolies. People have started to catch some 25lbs+ bass in there...... I would go there soon before they are gone, not to much longer IMO.
  20. Drove about an hour to get to a lake.... Got on the lake... We realized we forgot our fishing poles...
  21. Sorry format is weird (copy and pasted).
