  1. I lose claws on pretty much all the beaver type baits except for the Zoom Super Hog. The Sweet Beavers and the GCBY Flappin' Hog are so salty that the plastic becomes very brittle, even watterlogged and tears up. Each one is a stellar fish catcher though. The Perfect Plastic Rodent is similarly fragile. I have lost appendages on both the Pit Boss and the Fighting Frog (currently my favorite creature/beaver bait), though the bass do not seem to mind. If you have a bottle of Mend-it and a couple of pulled apart baits, cut off appendages from one and merge them into one complete bait when you get home, it'll save some money.
  2. It does look pretty neat, but I imagine it will begin to get expensive with lost worms and weights.
  3. I fish in a pond infested with turtles and around this time of year there are small half dollar sized hatchlings all over the place. I know some bass have to be slurping down some turtles. Can't wait to buy some of these.
  4. I've always wondered why there wasn't ever a tiny turtle lure. Whenever I asked, I was always told that bass won't eat turtles. I guess we'll see. New Product - Bombshell Turtle. What do you think? If nothing else, they look neat.
  5. You posted to save people some money on a bait that I and bass_fanatic consider less than great. In the same spirit as your saving money theme, we proposed saving even more money by not buying the bait altogether. If you look at it from that perspective we're on the same page. But really, like weedsnagger said, message boards are to share info, not just the info you like, but all info.
  6. BS on that. The poster had a contrary opinion to yours. Just as you are free to shill for a company, somebody else is just as free to say the bait isn't worth it. And I happen to agree with Bass_Fanatic, these baits are not all that great. I would recommend everyone steer clear of the H2Os and buy a couple of the KVD1.5s or RC1.5s.
  7. I will jump on the bandwagon and say Zoom Baby Brush hog is the best for me in terms of durability and catching fish. I would also add that the Zoom Super Hog is nearly as good. Same length as the Baby Brush Hog, but it is a bit thicker and has a more beaverlike tail. The only creature bait that catches more for me is the GCBY Flappin' Hog, but they fall apart if just you look at them funny...
  8. To paraphrase Quint from Jaws... You're gonna need a bigger tackle box...
  9. My 6 yo cleans up with a lunker city Helgie on a jig head. Another good one is a white grub on a jighead. Bass, sunfish, even a catfish last week. When the topwater bite is on, I give him a rage toad. He has a blast.
  10. MEND-IT MEND-IT A THOUSAND TIMES MEND-IT!!!
  11. I wouldn't worry too much about color in water that dirty, I would concentrate more on vibration. Colorado or Indiana bladed spinnerbait, a wake bait, a buzzbait, a rattletrap, etc. A big Anaconda or Thumper worm might work too.
  12. I'm on my third bottle of mend it. I have only ever gotten the plastic bottle stuff. Each bottle has lasted me at least 6 months before becoming very thick and eventually solidifying. Usually though I have already used 80% of the bottle by that time. I don't care, I will keep buying Mend-It. It has saved hundreds just on repaired Senkos and Sweet Beavers alone. That is well worth the price of a fraction of the bottle solidifying. I have heard a little acetone will re-liquify the congealed Mend-It, but have not tried it yet.
  13. Interesting post. I save all of my torn up plastics and fix them with Mend-it. I rarely have a bait that is 'un-savable'. Whenever possible I retrieve any baits from the water as well. If I find one that isn't mine, I keep it too, repair it and use it again. Before mend it, I used a soldering iron... Good luck.
  14. There's a new type of site out there, you might not be familiar with it because they only just thought it up. It's called a 'search engine'. Brand new concept. Introducing 'Google' ;)
  15. i have herd ov them their good bates you shud by sum moor
  16. Haven't even seen the Luck E version yet. Another lure on the list to grab 5 of...
  17. I had previously 'panned' the KVD1.5, perhaps unfairly comparing it to the RC1.5, but need to change my position on it. Reason being, I've been fishing with the KVD1.5 in some snaggy areas where I didn't want to risk my RC and it has produced in spades... I have ten quality fish (and many more dinks) in two days on the KVD lure and almost as important, I haven't lost a single lure, it comes through the brush like a CHAMP. While I still think I cannot feel its action as well as I can other lures, there is no denying that this bait flat out catches fish, and I recant all of my previous negative statements. I still haven't witnessed the hunting ability, but right now, who cares, I'm catching fish.
  18. Terminator Green & White Spinnerbait Lucky Craft RC1.5 Blue back over chartreuse Zoom Trickworm Junebug, Green Pumpkin, or Bananaseed.
  19. I don't get bitten too often for some reason, but my kids get devoured when we go out. Avon Skin So Soft works very well, isn't dangerous to kids (Deet), and smells nice. Have your wife or girlfriend pick a bottle up.
  20. Junebug and Black Shad.
  21. Weightless trick worm, t-rigged or wacky.
  22. I shore fish almost exclusively, and bring 4 rods and my BPS Stalker bag filled to the brim with an assortment of just about everything. Most of it I never use by my OCD doesn't allow me to cull from the bag any lures I think I might need... I always have a spinnerbait rigged, a crankbait (usually an RC1.5), and two soft plastics. For the plastics I normally start with a baby brush hog t-rigged, and a trickworm weightless. If the Spinnerbait or Crankbait are working, I fish exclusively with those, and use the trickworm to cast to fish I missed a strike on. The brush hog I use to clean up a spot, sometimes getting a shy fish that didn't want the spinnerbait.
  23. I know how you feel and feel your pain. I cannot get a nibble on a jig of any size. I tried to commit to a jig last year, and fished about a dozen times with nothing but a jig. Twelve wasted trips. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.
  24. I would go out on a limb and throw the hollow body swimbait again.
