  1. ...for who has the nuttiest followers... http://www.videosift.com/video/Earth-First-Hippies-to-the-extreme
  2. I've argued this topic before and can't believe nobody else really questions this study. It is the same in the real world as an Exxon funding a study to prove burning oil doesn't cause pollution. I don't think I am being overly paranoid about it... Maybe the political season has me in more of a 'doubt everything you hear' mind frame than usual. Anyhow, sorry for the tone of my post earlier.
  3. It's OK to use a hook and drive it through a shiner in order to impale a bigger fish that you are probably going to just throw back, but using a mouse is somehow worse? Mice are vermin. I say try it. At worst you waste a couple of bucks and kill a mouse - something if you found in your house you'd set a trap for anyway...
  4. You can walk the dog with them too.
  5. Salad Spoon by Lunker City.
  6. You pretty much 100% missed the mark of what I was saying, but I give you a D+ for effort. Please don't vote this year... My point was, if anyone else didn't get it, was that one of the largest plastic worm producers employed a scientist to come up with an experiment that basically tells people to buy more plastic worms...Imagine that...
  7. There are a lot of people saying the Mann's 1minus bait. I have several and have never caught anything on them. Aside from that, I have had several of mine have break too, their lips have fallen off, or cracked down the center... I dunno, maybe I got a few from a bad batch, but this has been a bad luck bait for me...
  8. Yeah, I can't believe it is from eating crayfish, but I still don't discount a late spawn. In the spring I catch them with bloody tails and red mouths... You mention that it is hormonal, and a spawn is certainly a hormonal event... This is the first I've seen this behavior in the fall, and if not a true spawn, this might be a 'dry run' or false spawn for some younger fish, or since the temps are similar to spring temps right now, it might be an ill timed spawn. I haven't seen any beds, but the water is stained where I fish, and even in the spring around here I rarely see the beds. It is interesting. I'm gonna look for beds the next time I go.
  9. I like that! I'm gonna use that somewhere...
  10. I've been catching them with 'red lips' too. I've also caught more than a few that look like they're spawning again with bloody tails. Will they spawn a second time? I've heard it can happen, never really seen it until this year.
  11. I'm getting some of those Anacondas and the Rodents, their version of the beaver. They both look killer.
  12. Dr. Jones from Berkley/Pure Fishing INC who has an enormous monetary stake in plastic worms has done experiments on tanked bass and his results show that a plastic worm is the only bait that bass consistently "forget" about. -Fixed it... I will never believe this experiment based on two things: 1 - The experiment was funded by Berkley producer of power worms and gulp brands of plastic worms... 2 - I consistently catch in the same places with the same cranks excellent bass from dinks to 5-6 pounders.
  13. I started using them this year and have been very impressed. I'm usually a crankbait guy, but these beavers are no joke. I fish them weightless very tight to any structure. I fish from shore, so I don't get to pitch them like a lot of folks do. The beavers are perfect for skipping, btw, I can skip these better than any other bait.
  14. I have been slaying them on 3 cranks this so far this early fall: RC1.5 Blue back/chartreuse Megabass Griffon in a color called Crack Jungle (green back, clear sides, orange belly) Megabass Cycloe Black and Yellow. All are 0-4 foot divers and have caught 30 bass in the last 3 trips (dinks not included!) I also love the Bandit footloose and 100 series, I just can't put down my megabass baits yet...
  15. Yeah, same waters. Dunno, it produced this morning too. I gave the same color, same manufacturer 7.5 inch worm a try, and nothing. Guess it's 10 inchers from now on.
  16. Awesome advice, thanks. I have problems with the search feature on this board, it almost never finds anything for me, I have stopped trying. Sorry!
  17. I like both of these reels a lot, and want to buy one, but other than a few differences, cannot figure out why one is $60 (Megaforce) and the other is $200 (Viento). The Megaforce has a faster ratio, only has 2 less ballbearings, and holds more line. I can buy the Megaforce today, but have to save for the Viento... Is there that much difference? Should I get the megaforce and then use the extra cash for more lures that I won't use? Any advice you all have is appreciated! Megaforce: http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0049032122341a.shtml Viento: http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0036070120548a.shtml
  18. I did a search on Death Magnetic before I posted my own thread, and this one did not come up... Sorry for the duplicate... I like the album, and I hated load/reload/st anger, etc. It isn't golden age, but it is better than the Black album and anything after it. The Drums are too darn loud though. Lars sucks.
  19. My favorite is the Megabass Cyclone. A beautiful crankbait that produces numbers and quality. It might be the prettiest crank on the market.
  20. I guess that's better... but still, what a bunch of crud.
  21. I just got back from Disney, and it was torture... There are hundreds of ponds and lakes, and they are off limits to fishermen. I saw several bass in the main lake while waiting for the ferry. They were big and fat, and mocking me.
  22. I do not fish a plain old 7 inch ribbon tail worm much anymore, but every time I do lately, it's been frustrating. I catch nothing. I get bites, but its just bream pecking at the tail. Nobody else I fish with has problems getting fish on this lure, just me. So I switched to a 10 Culprit worm, and all of the sudden, I am doing great on them. I am doing nothing different, same colors, same t-rig with a screw in weight, same line size, same rod. does the 2.5 to 3 inches really make that much difference? Anyone else having this experience?
  23. Crankbaits!!!
  24. I fish small stained ponds all of the time, and I do not have a better producer than the Bandit cranks. The Footloose (0-1 foot diver), the 100 Series (2-5 foot) and the 200 (4-7 foot) are awesome little cranks. I have never had to tune them, they are inexpensive, and they come in a billion and a half colors. They rattle nicely, the wobble seductively, and are sturdy.
