  1. I used to live in Ashburn Village, then I moved and my sister lived there for a while, so I fished those lakes a lot... Since then, I have been run off several times, but this is the first I've heard of an arrest... That totally sucks. That sports pavilion pond has some nice fish in it. 5 and 6 pounders, and this was two or three years ago.
  2. Make sure you have a PFD, the game wardens like to ticket there. I have gotten a ticket and seen many being written out.
  3. I know right where it is, I used to fish there a lot, but not recently. At GF park, if you are willing to do a bit of walking, there is some good fishing pretty far down past where the old lock was cut into the rock. It is a pretty good hike, but we used to pull a lot of smallmouth ot of there.
  4. I fish the main river, but in the spring, when the river is high, I do very well at the base of the waterfall when the water is just below the rock platform at the base of the waterfall.
  5. It has been years since I tried Great Falls Park, I already went to lunch today, so I will have to check it out another... Last time I went it was only a couple bucks to get in, how much is it now?
  6. Evening around where I am starts a pretty good topwater bite. I like buzzbaits and walk the dog baits, and always keep a Cane Toad nearby which can be topwater or subsurface...
  7. I work in McLean, and after work hop over to Scott's Run to fish where it hits the Potomac. I am looking for a spot to hit during my lunch hour... Scott's run has a 20 minute hike to get to the river, so that's out... Anyone know of any good ponds or streams to hit in the McLean area without a hike?
  8. I fish the Potomac at Scott's Run a lot, I work nearby in Mclean, so it is one of the easier spots to access. The hike is tough... But once you get to the river and the sun starts setting, I don't know that there is a prettier spot to fish anywhere...At least I haven't found it yet... Plus the river is loaded with smallmouth there... I do really well with Case Plastic Senko Knockoffs in their 3 inch version, small lizards, and countdown rapalas.
  9. Spinnerbait, Green White with tandem willow blades.
  10. I also agree on burning a crankbait... I have an old Poes Cedar Crank, a big ugly clunky thing. The only way I catch fish on it is if I see a fish in shallow water, cast past it, and crank it fast in a bee-line for the bass. Sometimes they run away, sometimes they attack back...
  11. Gambler has some great soft plastics. I have not tried the Sweebo yet, but will. I have been using the Gambler Giggy Sticks and Big Sticks for the shaky rig. They crush for me.
  12. I like the look of the Red Eye Shads, but I have not noticed them being any different in the water. I catch about as much on the the diamond shad, also by SK, but I catch more than both on the cheap-o Lews Speed Trap.
  13. Got them on Saturday, very cool looking. I didn't get to use them yet, but will try and get out some tomorrow. Thanks Bobby and Dana!
  14. I dunno about the mutant, but that bait called the Honcho looks very nice...
  15. Cultiva Rippin' Minnow?
  16. No, that's cool, I was just confused on where we were currently...
  17. At this point, what lure exactly are we trying to figure out? The Grass Rat looking one?
  18. I think that if you are using a web based email address (hotmail or yahoo) it is getting rejected. I used my work email and it got thru... Thanks to Bobby and Dana for the great offer! I can't wait to try them out...
  19. Email sent! Buy I got the delivery failure too.
  20. Weightless finesse style worm. I like Bass Assassin's 'Charm Assassin'.
  21. Never mind, I think... After a google search, found this: <couldn't get the link to work, just do your own google search...>
  22. I see Gander, BPS and Cabelas putting pretty much all of their Bagley Balsa lures on clearance. I also spend too much time on ebay, and see that some ebay store owners are saying that the new bagleys are all going to be plastic. They are also getting rid of their Lee Sisson lines of baits. Is it just a general move by manufacturers away from wood lures, or is Bagley in trouble?
  23. I kayak fish Lake Fredrick several times a month because it is close. It is very tough fishing but there are some very big fish in the lake. In the spring Bandit 200s and 300s and Rapala DTs work OK. In the summer the weeds are amazingly long and the water gets very clear. I only catch fish on trick worms and senkos worked very very slowly, and sometimes in the middle of the week on DTs. I want to give Ikas and Lake Fork Shads a try this year. I have heard that the drop shot technique works well here, but from a Kayak that is pretty much impossible.
  24. Great Affordable Lures: Bandit 100 Chartreuse/Pearl Rebel Wee Frog Natural Color Terminator Green and White Spinnerbait Sizmic Toad Pumpkin w/ Pearl Belly Zoom Trick Worm Banana Seed or Pumpkin Seed Lake Fork Live Magic Shad Lunker City Salad Spoon Green Pumpkin (for the scum and slop up top) Expensive ones you should be able to find on Ebay for a good price: Bagley B2 Shallow runner Bagley Bulgin' B Lucky Craft RC shallow runner Catching Concepts Cranks (awesome baits) Cavitron Buzz Bait Black
  25. I have not had any great success with the Megabait Charlie. It is kind of stiff in the water, and they fall apart. Mine crumbled from the inside out, kind of dry rotted I guess. You would do better with the Lake Fork Live Magic Shad for a cheap swimbait.
